I’m enjoying my flower garden this year. I’m new to gardening where flowers are concerned. Until we moved to Norfolk, I devoted my spare time to my allotment. Most likely I’ll end up with a mix of flowers, fruit and vegetables in both garden and allotment. Here’s a rose from the garden, with rain drops, for submission to the group ‘Looking Close....On Friday’. Ironically we’ve had very little rain here so far this year.

with all the rainy days we experienced in May, it was easy to take such photo. I post it today for the group Looking close on Friday.
bon vendredi ( le 24 c'est la fête des Québecois- je partagrai une autre photo symbolique du Québec)
We had the necessary rain last night and this morning. Everything looks so beautiful and I love the smell of wet earth.
The theme for “Looking Close on Friday” for the 24th of June is “raindrops or dewdrops”. Luckily, it is winter where I live, and not only is it the coldest winter since 1947, but it has also been raining quite a lot, so I have had many things to photograph covered in raindrops, and ample choice of images for this theme.
Of course, “raindrops on roses”, the opening one of Fräulein Maria’s favourite things in “The Sound of Music” is the most obvious choice, and it was mine using a magenta rose until the other day when I went to hand deliver a birthday card. As I was walking back, there was a break in the rainclouds and showers long enough to give me some sunshine and blue skies, and I walked past a garden full of bright purple and magenta salvias. A raindrop glinting in the sunlight on the tip of a purple salvia caught my eye, and as I always carry my little camera with me, I stopped to photograph it. This image, complete with its sparkle, was the result! The vibrant colour in the bloom is very striking, and the way it is covered in raindrops, makes this salvia a bejewelled beauty. Looking at this, I can well understand why raindrops on roses, or any other flowers may well be one of Fräulein Maria’s favourite things. I hope it is one of yours too, and that it makes you smile!

Looking Close... on Friday: Raindrops or Drewdrops
I was losing hope of getting a picture for this week's theme, but on Wednesday, it started raining. I got to the park as fast as I could. By that time, the rain had stopped and the sun was shining, but I managed to get a few of the remaining raindrops, lit by the evening sun.
