People gathered once more to make visible their dissatisfaction of the FBI's raids on anti-war activists on September 24, 2010 in Minneapolis and Chicago. I had taken two sets of two posters I had produced in 1991 in protest of the Gulf War. I placed them in one of the piles of posters. A woman selected the Martin Luther King Jr. quote, and I managed to capture a few shots as she held it once for me, and for a few shots by others.

Dawn raids saw officers in Oldham execute six drugs warrants as part of a crackdown on drug dealing in the district.

At around 6.15am this morning (Thursday 2 July 2020), officers from GMP’s Oldham division raided an address on Chamber Road, Coppice, and at five properties in the Glodwick area.

The action comes after concerns were raised in the community regarding the dealing of drugs in the area.

Neighbourhood Inspector Steve Prescott, of GMP’s Oldham division, said: “We hope that today’s operation demonstrates not only how keen we are to tackle drugs across the district and the Force, but also our endeavours to listen to community concerns and to act upon them.

“Today’s action is a significant part of tackling the issues around drugs that we see too often in our societies and the devastating impact they can have on individuals, their families and loved ones as well as the wider community.

“This action will have caused a huge amount of disruption for the criminals who seek to infiltrate these substances onto our streets and degrade the quality of life for so many.

“Anyone with concerns about the dealing of such drugs in their area should not hesitate to contact police; safe in the knowledge that we are prepared to strike back against those who operate in this destructive and illegal industry.”

Raids were carried out this morning, Tuesday 16 March 2021, at 18 addresses in Wigan.

The raids were led by officers from GMP's Wigan district, Specialist Operations, Serious and Organised Crime Group and Challenger Teams from across the force.

Superintendent Mark Kenny of GMP’s Wigan District said: “GMP is committed to clamping down on drugs and the hugely detrimental impact they have on our communities. Today's operation highlights that, and means that individuals who have blighted their community have been arrested.

"Illegal drugs and, the organised criminal gangs who seek to control their supply, have a corrosive effect on our communities and attract further criminality to the areas they operate. Today's operation follows a long and complex investigation which will continue over the coming days.

"I would ask that if anyone has concerns about drug dealing or crime where they live, that they report it to us on 101 or 999 if it’s an emergency, or you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. You can also give us information via LiveChat on our website at www.gmp.police.uk.”
