Hijo de Bardock, nace en el año 737 con el nombre de Kakarotto. Es enviado al planeta Tierra para conquistarla, poco antes de la destrucción de su planeta natal a manos del tirano Freeza.

Cuando aterrizó en La Tierra, un anciano habitante de las montañas llamado Son Gohan encuentra a Kakarotto cerca de un cráter que fue formado en el suelo por una pequeña nave espacial en la que éste fue enviado. Al principio, el bebé que el anciano encontró era muy rebelde, pero un día el bebé cae accidentalmente por un acantilado y se golpea muy gravemente en la cabeza causándole amnesia, debido a eso se volvió noble, y al paso de los años comienza a aprender artes marciales. Una noche, al ver la luna llena, se convierte en Ōzaru y accidentalmente mata a Son Gohan, pero al no tener conciencia en esa forma cuando despierta no encuentra al anciano y continua su vida creyendo que la Sì Xīngqiú es él.

La historia comienza cuando Bulma llega donde Gokū buscando la Sì Xīngqiú, pero debido a que el joven no quiere entregarle el artefacto la ingeniosa joven lo convence para que la acompañe en el viaje para reunir las siete Dragon Balls.[5] En el camino conoce a otros personajes como Oolong, Yamcha, Chichi y Kame Sen'nin, algunos de ellos se alían a Gokū o tienen otro papel en el futuro de la serie. Gokū y sus compañeros consiguen seis de las Dragon Balls, pero estas son robadas por Pilaf y sus secuaces, quienes tienen la séptima e invocan a Shenlong, pero Oolong se interpone y pide unas bragas. Una vez cumplido el deseo los artefactos se dispersan por el mundo y se convierten en piedra por un año, por lo que Gokū decide ir a entrenar con Kame Sen'nin.

Luego del entrenamiento participa junto a Krilin, otro alumno del anciano, en el 21º Tenkaichi Budōkai donde se enfrenta a Giran, Namu y Jackie Chun, Gokū vence a los dos primeros pero es vencido por Jackie. Una vez terminado el torneo Gokū parte a entrenar solo y buscar la Sì Xīngqiú, pero se encuentra con varios oficiales del Ejército Red Ribbon que también estan buscando las Dragon Balls. Después de conseguir tres Dragon Balls que no son la que esta buscando Gokū llega a la Tierra Sagrada de Karin donde conoce a Upa y a Bora quienes tienen la Sì Xīngqiú pero se niegan a dársela al ejército. El ejército envía a Tao Pai Pai a asesinar a Gokū es vencido, aun así en la pelea el asesino mata a Bora y Gokū decide reunir las siete Dragon Balls para revivirlo. Para ello el joven ataca la base del ejército y recupera las 2 Dragon Balls que ellos consiguieron.[18] Para encontrar la última Dragon Ball tiene que recurrir a Uranai Baba y vencer a sus cinco guerreros, a los cuales vence con ayuda de sus amigos. Gracias a la ayuda de la adivina encuentra a Pilaf y lo vence, logrando obtener las siete Dragon Balls e invocar al dragón para revivir a Bora.

Tres años mas tarde Gokū participa en la vigésimo segunda edición del torneo donde se enfrenta a su amigo Krilin, a quien logra vencer, y a Ten Shin Han, quien logra vencer al protagonista en un combate muy parejo. Después del torneo Krilin es asesinado por un engendro de Piccolo Daimaō, Gokū intenta vengar a su amigo pero es vencido. El joven decide ir a pedirle ayuda a Karin, quien le da el Chōshinsui, gracias a esto Gokū logra enfrentarse a Piccolo y vencerlo. Para poder resucitar a sus amigos fallecidos Gokū sube donde Karin, quien lo envia con Kamisama y Mr. Popo, quienes reviven a Shenlong, y él a su vez a toda la gente asesinada por Piccolo. Después de esto, se queda a entrenar allí por 3 años.

Pasados los 3 años de entrenamiento Gokū baja de la torre para participar en el 23º Tenkaichi Budōkai. En el torneo se enfrenta primero a Chichi, quien buscaba al joven para que cumpliera su promesa de contraer matrimonio con ella; en el segundo combate vence con Ten Shin Han, contra quien había perdido antes; y en la final se enfrenta a Ma Junior, quien en realidad es Piccolo, destruyendo el campo. Finalmente lo derrota, pero le perdona la vida y se convierte por primera vez en el ganador del Tenkaichi Budōkai. Luego del torneo se celebra su matrimonio con Chichi.

Cuatro años después del nacimiento de su primogénito, Son Gohan, Gokū lleva al niño a Kame House, allí se enfrenta a su hermano Raditz, quien le revela su origen Saiyajin y secuestra a Gohan. Raditz es mucho más poderoso que él, por lo que Gokū debe aliarse con Piccolo para tratar de vencerlo. Sin embargo no son suficientemente poderosos para derrotarlo, y aun con una intervención del pequeño Gohan, que despierta su poder oculto por unos momentos, no logran derrotar a Raditz. Finalmente, en un intento de desesperación, Gokū decide sacrificarse al sujetar a Raditz por la espalda y Piccolo termina con la vida de ambos al dispararles su técnica especial llamada Makankosappo. Antes de morir Raditz les advierte de otros Sayajin más fuertes que vendrán aproximadamente un año después.

En el otro mundo Gokū es enviado a entrenar con Kaiō del Norte. Con un año por delante para entrenar, Gokū comienza a correr por el camino de la serpiente, el cual le habían advertido, era muy largo. Llega luego de medio año de correr con poco descanso al final de este camino que parecía interminable y divisa un pequeño planeta que pertenece a Kaiō Sama. Allí comienza su duro entrenamiento, bajo la fuerte gravedad que es 10 veces mayor que la de la tierra. Al haber pasado el año, Gokū es revivido con las Dragon Balls, pero llega muy tarde y ya han muerto Yamcha, Chaozu, Ten Shin Han y Piccolo. Con suerte logra salvar a Gohan, enviándole su Nube voladora para salvarlo de que Nappa lo pise. Gokū vence fácilmente a Nappa, a quien Vegeta mata por incompetente. Con mucha dificultad Gokū logra vencer a Vegeta pero le perdona la vida y este escapa, y Gokū con todo su cuerpo roto queda hospitalizado mientras Karin cosecha más Senzu.

La muerte de Piccolo ha hecho que las Dragon Balls de la tierra desaparecieran, por lo que deben ir al planeta Namek a buscar a los congéneres de Piccolo. En la búsqueda de estas esferas de Namek parten Bulma, Gohan y Krilin. Al llegar comienza la búsqueda de las Dragon Balls pero descubren que hay fuerzas malignas en el planeta que también están en la búsqueda de los artefactos. Estas fuerzas malignas eran Freeza y sus hombres, y además de ellos, también el recientemente recuperado Vegeta. Después de recuperarse, Gokū parte en una nueva nave construida por el Dr. Brief, la cual cuenta con distintos niveles de gravedad para que se entrene mientras viaja. Gokū llega a Namek en medio de la batalla de Vegeta, Gohan y Krilin contra las Fuerzas Especiales Ginyū. Luego de haber entrenado en una gravedad 100 veces mayor a la de la tierra, derrota fácilmente a Recoome, Jheese y Burter, pero al enfrentarse contra el Capitán Ginyū sufre la pérdida de su cuerpo tras soportar la técnica del capitán, llamada "Cambio" la cual consiste en el intercambio de cuerpos con el contrincante. Gokū se encuentra en graves problemas, ya que queda atrapado en otro cuerpo. Se desata una batalla entre Ginyū, Gohan, Vegeta y Krilin en la cual Ginyū es derrotado, y como el cuerpo que estaba usando no funcionaba como había esperado, realiza su técnica para quedarse con el cuerpo de Vegeta, pero Gokū se interpone y logra volver a la normalidad. Posteriormente lo intenta de nuevo, y Gokū lanza una rana para que se interponga entre los dos contrincantes, de modo que Ginyū se convierte en rana. Tras esta intensa batalla, Gokū termina gravemente herido y es internado en el centro médico de la nave de Freeza.

Cuando Gokū despierta, ya recuperado, Freeza ya ha alcanzado su cuarta forma y está a punto de matar a Vegeta; de cualquier manera matándolo. Aun con el aumento de fuerza, le cuesta mucho enfrentarse a Freeza. Gokū lo ataca con una Genkidama que parece destruirlo, pero Freeza sobrevive y mata a Krilin, lo que provoca el enfado de Gokū, que logra convertirse en Supersaiyajin. En este nuevo estado, Gokū es más poderoso que Freeza, quien ataca al núcleo del planeta para que éste se destruya y Gokū muera. Tras una feroz batalla Gokū derrota finalmente a Freeza y procede a escapar, ya que le quedaban pocos minutos al planeta para explotar. El planeta explota y todos creen que Gokū muere, por lo que piden a Polunga que lo reviva, pero éste les dice que no lo puede hacer. Chichi y los demás se asustan, y Polunga explica que es por que Gokū está vivo, porque él en realidad viajó en una nave de Fuerzas Especiales Ginyū al planeta Yadrat donde aprendió la técnica Shunkan Idō(Teletransportación) y se preparó para volver a la tierra.

Cuando Gokū llega a la tierra se encuentra con un joven llamado Trunks que viene del futuro para avisar a Gokū de una nueva amenaza: dos androides creados por el Dr. Gero; un antiguo-miembro del Ejército Red Ribbon, a los cuales él no podrá destruir ya que morirá por una enfermedad cardíaca. Estos androides llegan tres años después del regreso de Gokū, pero son diferentes a los conocidos por Trunks. Gokū pelea contra #19 y al principio parece que le va a vencer fácilmente, pero es afectado por su enfermedad y tiene que ser salvado por Vegeta.

Gokū es llevado a su casa donde toma su medicina. Mientras está recuperándose, aparecen los androides que Trunks conocía, #17 y #18. Cuando Gokū se recupera, Cell ya ha aparecido y está tratando de absorber a los androides para lograr su forma perfecta. Gokū decide entrenar con Gohan en el Palacio de Kamisama, en la habitación del tiempo, mientras Vegeta y Trunks se enfrentan a Cell; pero Cell logra su forma perfecta, derrotándolos. En la habitación del tiempo, Gohan alcanza el nivel de supersaiyajin, pero cuando salen, Cell ha decidido hacer un torneo, por lo que deciden alternarse entre entrenar y descansar hasta el día que se enfrenten a Cell.

En los juegos de Cell, Gokū pide pelear de primero, pero se rinde luego de probar la fuerza de Cell y le dice a Gohan que lo venza, Gohan no libera todo su poder, por lo que Cell empieza a atacar a todos con los Cells Jr, y al morir #16, Gohan se convierte en supersaiyajin nivel 2. Antes de que Gohan logre vencerlo, Cell activa su autodestrucción y Gokū se sacrifica teletransportándolo al planeta Kaiō para evitar la destrucción de la tierra. Aun así, Cell se regenera más fuerte que antes, pero esta vez Gohan lo ataca con su Oyako Kame Hame Ha ayudado por Gokū desde el otro mundo.

Gokū decide quedarse entrenando en el más allá y participa en un torneo en honor a la muerte del Kaiō del Norte, donde empata la final con Paikuhan.

Tras el torneo, Gokū sigue entrenando y llega a los niveles de Supersaiyajin 2 y Supersaiyajin 3. No vuelve a aparecer hasta años después.

Pasan siete años hasta que Gokū puede volver de visita a la tierra, para participar en el 25º Tenkaichi Budōkai. Ahí conoce a su segundo hijo, Goten. El torneo es interrumpido por los seguidores de Babidi, buscando energía para despertar a Majin Boo. Gokū y sus amigos los siguen hasta la nave del brujo, donde Gokū se enfrenta al monstruo Yakon en el segundo nivel. Gokū se transforma en Supersaiyajin para iluminar la habitación, pero Yakon absorbe la luz. Gokū vuelve a transformarse, pero esta vez con más energía y Yakon estalla al absorber más de lo que podía aguantar. Más adelante Vegeta es controlado por Babidi y se enfrenta a Gokū hasta que hacen despertar a Majin Boo. Vegeta deja inconsciente a Gokū y se marcha a pelear contra Majin Boo: en la pelea, Vegeta se sacrifica para poder derrotar a Majin Boo, pero su sacrificio es inútil y Majin Boo sigue con vida.

Gokū decide entrenar a Goten y Trunks para que se fusionen, y va ver a Majin Boo para ganar algo de tiempo mientras Trunks va por el Dragon Radar. Allí muestra el nivel Supersaiyajin 3 alcanzado en su entrenamiento del otro mundo, pero su estancia en la tierra se reduciría por la energía gastada en dicho nivel. Al haber pasado su tiempo Gokū, regresa al más allá y le pregunta a Enma Daiō por su hijo. Al darse cuenta de que éste no había muerto, busca su energía y se teletransporta al planeta supremo donde él esta entrenando con la Espada Z.

Rōkaiō Shin le da su vida a Gokū para que vaya a la tierra y se fusione con Gohan, pero cuando llega al lugar, Boo logra absorberlo. En el último momento Vegeta es traído del más allá por Uranai Baba y usan los pendientes para fusionarse en Vegetto. Fusionados son más poderosos que Majin Boo, por lo que éste los engaña para absorberlos, aunque gracias a su barrera logran entrar en el cuerpo de Boo sin ser absorbidos y liberan al resto de personajes que se encontraban allí, incluyendo al Majin Boo bueno. Sin embargo, esto hace que Boo regrese a su forma original y destruya la tierra. Kaiōshin apenas puede salvar a Goku, Vegeta, Dende y Mr. Satán con la teletransportación.

Mientras Gokū y Vegeta pelean en el Planeta Supremo, A Vegeta se le ocurre una estrategia: Que Dende, Kaiōshin y Rōkaiō Shin vayan al planeta Namek para usar las Dragon Balls de ese lugar y pedirle a Polunga que la tierra sea reconstruida y que revivan a todas las personas que fueron asesinadas desde el 25 Tenkaichi Budōkai. Majin Boo bueno distrae a Majin Boo puro mientras Gokū prepara un Cho Genkidama ó Super Genkidama para destruirlo, mientras que Mr. Satán ayuda a Gokū a reunir energia; pero en el momento de la ejecución, Gokū pierde su energía debido a la transformación de Supersaiyajin nivel 3, si bien recupera su fuerza con el 3º deseo de las Dragon Balls de Namek, tras lo que consigue derrotar a Majin Boo para siempre.

Diez años más tarde, Gokū participa en el 28º Tenkaichi Budōkai. Gohan se ha casado con Videl y han tenido una hija llamada Pan. Gokū se marcha para entrenar a un niño llamado Oob, el cual le atrae encarecidamente su poder por ser la reencarnación de Majin Boo.

ベジータ Bejīta

Vegeta, es el Príncipe de los Saiyajin. Vegeta siempre ha destacado por su astucia y valentía a la hora de luchar y porque desde muy pequeño había sido entrenado con dureza. Gracias a esto, su potencial se manifestó tempranamente, y ya a los cinco años destacaba entre los demás guerreros de primera clase. Por ello se convirtió en uno de los soldados preferidos por Freezer, quien le encargaba misiones cada vez más complicadas. Cuando Freeza iba a exterminar a la raza saiyajin por temor a la leyenda del Supersaiyajin, decidió dejar con vida al joven Príncipe encargándole una misión lejos del planeta Vegeta. Incluso cuando su planeta de origen fue exterminado, Vegeta no demostró ningún sentimiento o afecto hacia éste, lo cual constituye parte de su fría personalidad de guerrero. Vegeta seguía las órdenes de Freeza sólo para hacerse más fuerte para algún día intentar derrotarlo y proclamarse el guerrero más poderoso del universo.

Vegeta, al conocer que Raditz fue derrotado, decide ir con Nappa, su compañero de viaje y guardaespaldas personal a la tierra para eliminar a los que mataron a Raditz. No obstante, el verdadero motivo por el cual Vegeta estaba interesado en realizar dicho viaje era encontrar las Dragon Balls, de las que había oído hablar a través del scouter de Raditz durante su pelea con Goku, para obtener la inmortalidad y poder así derrotar a Freezer.

Cuando llega a la Tierra, se encuentran con Piccolo, Krilin, Son Gohan, Yamcha , Ten Shin Han y Chaoz, decididos a pararle los pies. Al considerar una pérdida de tiempo luchar con ellos, decide divertirse un poco a su costa sembrando unas cuantas semillas de Saibaiman, hombrecillos con forma de brócoli pero muy bien entrenados, para que luchen con ellos, consiguiendo matar a Yamcha. Tras lo cual le piden que espere unas horas hasta que llegue Goku. Agotado el tiempo, Nappa es el primero que entra en combate, venciéndolos a todos fácilmente. y matando a Chaoz, Ten Shin Han y Piccolo y dejando muy malheridos a Son Gohan y Krilin. Cuando Kamisama trae a Gokū de vuelta a la Tierra, Gokū va directo al combate y consigue derrotar a Nappa. Éste le pide ayuda a Vegeta y éste, avergonzado por ver a su compañero siendo derrotado por Gokū, lo elimina.

Ahora sólo quedan Gokū y Vegeta. Al principio Vegeta tiene ventaja sobre el combate, ya que había una gran diferencia de poder. Al ver su inferioridad con respecto a Vegeta Gokū se arriesga y utiliza el [[Kaiō Ken]x4 logrando superar con un kamehameha el Garlic Ho de Vegeta. Esto obliga a Vegeta a utilizar la Power Ball, con la cual crea una Luna llena artificial, y logra Convertirse en Ōzaru, hiriendo a Gokū de gravedad.

Entonces Gokū utiliza el Taiyo-Ken, para dejar ciego a Vegeta por unos instantes, aprovechando la ventaja para preparar una Genkidama. Cuando Vegeta se da cuenta de lo que intentaba hacer se lanza al ataque. Gokū comete el grave error de subestimar a Vegeta, y creer que la distancia que los separaba le daría el tiempo suficiente como para terminar la Genkidama, sin embargo, antes de poder terminarla, Vegeta ozaru le lanza una onda de poder, perdiendo parte del poder de la Genkidama. Sin perder el tiempo, Vegeta, ataca nuevamente a Gokū, esta vez, rompiéndole las piernas mientras este estaba tirado en el suelo. En un momento de descuido Yajirobe, le corta la cola con su espada, y éste vuelve a la normalidad. Gokū, sin fuerzas para lanzar la Genkidama, le pide a Krilín que lo haga por él. éste falla, dirigiéndola hacia Gohan, pero como la Genkidama sólo ataca a las almas malvadas, Gohan la relanza contra Vegeta, dándole de lleno, dejándole muy herido. Vegeta, cabreado, ataca a Jajirobe, pero Son gohan se convierte en Ozaru debido a la power ball de Vegeta y pierde el control. Entonces Krilin le dice que ataque a Vegeta, que paralizado por la sorpresa, no puede moverse. Entonces recupera el control de sí mismo e intenta acabar con Gohan antes de que termine de convertirse, pero llega tarde y es atacado por él. Cuando Gohan da un salto para atacarle, dejando la cola al descubierto, éste aprovecha el descuido para lanzarle un Kienzan. Pero éste cae sobre Vegeta antes de retraerse a niño, dejándolo medio muerto. Entonces Krilin intenta rematarle con la espada de Yajirobe, pero Gokū le pide que no lo haga, ya que ha sido un rival formidable y quiere dejarlo vivir para luchar con él en el futuro ya que a pesar de todo lo que había entrenado en el otro mundo, no había podido derrotarlo. Entoces Vegeta aprovecha la bondad de Goku para huir en su nave espacial y volver a su planeta para recuperarse. Aquí comenzó la rivalidad entre Goku y Vegeta.

Más tarde, Vegeta se entera que Freeza fue en busca de las Dragon Balls de Namek, para conseguir la vida eterna. Ante esta situación, decide partir de inmediato hacia Namek para adelantarse en su propósito al tirano. Kiwi, dirigente del Planeta Freeza nº79 y enemigo de Vegeta desde hace años, decide seguir al saiyajin hasta su destino para poner fin a sus planes y eliminarle. Ambos mantienen un breve encuentro tras el cual Vegeta, después de explicarle que su poder se ha incrementado tras haber estado a las puertas de la muerte (hasta ese momento, sus fuerzas eran iguales) lo elimina sin problemas. Allí se entera, gracias al soldado Dodoria (guerrero al servicio de Freeza), que fue Freeza el que destruyó el planeta Vegeta. Entonces Vegeta mata a algunos de los guerreros de élite que trabajan para Freeza: Kiwi y Dodoria, luego derrota fácilmente a Zarbon, pero este se transforma, dejando gravemente herido a Vegeta, tras lo cual Freeza manda que curen a Vegeta ya que el tenía algunas Dragon Balls, Vegeta se recupera y roba las Dragon Balls que estaban en poder de Freeza, y luego le da una paliza a Zarbon transformado, y lo elimina, Freeza manda a llamar a las fuerzas especiales Ginyu, obligando a Vegeta a aliarse a Krilin y a Gohan, primero Gurdo estuvo a punto de matar a Krilin y a Gohan, pero Vegeta lo elimina primero, tras lo cual le toca pelear contra Recome, el cual lastima seriamente a Krilin, Gohan y Vegeta; cuando todo parecía perdido aparece Gokū, le da una semilla del ermitaño a Vegeta, tras lo cual este incrementa sus poderes, luego Gokū enfrenta a las Fuerzas Especiales, después de entrenar a una gravedad aumentada 100 veces, vence fácilmente a Recome, Jeice y Burter, pero los deja con vida, luego Vegeta los mata pese a las protestas de Gokū. Después Vegeta lucha contra Freeza igualando sus poderes, pero éste se transforma y hiere de gravedad a Vegeta. Antes que Freeza acabara con él, aparece Piccolo, que entrenó con Kaio Sama y también se fusiono con Neil, que iguala el poder de Freeza, pero este se vuelve a transformar, derrotando facilmente a Piccolo. Freeza quiere aterrorízalos antes de matarlos, por lo que usa su última transformación, Vegeta le pide a Krilin que lo hiera de gravedad para que Dende lo cure y transformarse en Super Saiyajin, luego de eso Vegeta entra de nuevo a batalla, pero no consigue derrotar a Freeza, el cual lo hiere gravemente, y antes de morir, Vegeta le cuenta a Gokū la verdadera historia del planeta Vegeta y le pide a Gokū que vengue a su pueblo, cosa que Gokū logrará tras transformarse en un Super Saiyajin.

Vegeta será resucitado y enviado a la Tierra antes de la última batalla de Namek. Cuando se entera de que Gokū no murió al explotar el planeta Namek, decide quedarse en la Tierra para esperar el regreso de su rival. Durante la espera, se aloja en la Capsule Corp., donde se entrena para conseguir ser un Super Saiyajin, como ya lo había conseguido Gokū en Namek. Esta situación se prolongará tras el regreso de Gokū, un año después de la explosión de Namek, y la llegada de Trunks, que resulta ser el hijo futuro de Vegeta y Bulma. Aunque ni el manga ni el anime describen como ocurrió. Durante los tres años que transcurren desde el regreso de Gokū hasta la aparición de los androides, Vegeta y Bulma inician una relación que se prolongará indefinidamente. Nunca se casaron, pero su relación es equiparable al matrimonio ya que conviven juntos en Capsule Corp. Además de Trunks, tras la saga de Boo tuvieron otra hija llamada Bra.

Antes de la llegada de estos androides, Vegeta se prepara mucho más intensamente que los demás para enfrentarlos (entrena a una gravedad de 500 g, siendo "g" la gravedad de la Tierra) y logrará transformarse en un poderoso Super Saiyajin justo a tiempo para salvar la vida de Gokū cuando éste sufre la enfermedad del corazón que Trunks había pronosticado (durante este periodo Vegeta y Bulma tienen a su primer hijo, Trunks).

Vegeta llega en el momento justo en el que el androide c-19 estaba absorbiendo la energía de Gokū (capítulo 129 de la serie). Nadie excepto él podrá vencerlo, dice (aunque piccolo pudía acabar con el androide). Ante la sorpresa de todos, Vegeta se transforma en Super Saiyajin y acaba rápidamente con su adversario, (salvando la vida de Gokü), tras comprobar que el mecanismo por el cual succionaba la energía era un punto situado en la palma de la mano. Lleno de orgullo por su nueva fuerza, Vegeta corre imprudentemente a enfrentarse con otros androides mucho más poderosos: c-16, c-17 y c-18, apartando de su camino a su propio hijo Trunks. Es entonces cuando es golpeado a manos de la androide c-18, la cual se basta para acabar con él. Lleno de rabia, entrena con Trunks en la sala del tiempo y del espíritu, superando por mucho el poder base del Super Saiyajin, llegando a controlar el Super Saiyajin Dai Ni Dankai y Dai San Denkai. Se enfrenta a la segunda forma de Cell (luego de absorber a c-17) , ante el que muestra una incuestionable superioridad. Tentado por la idea de tener un adversario a su altura (producto de su orgullo), permite e incluso ayuda a Cell a alcanzar la perfección absorbiendo a c-18. Vegeta no puede vencerlo y queda inconsciente. Tras un nuevo entrenamiento en la sala del tiempo y el espíritu, Vegeta acudirá junto con los demás guerreros al Juego de Cell, el torneo organizado por Cell para decidir el destino de la humanidad. Allí, asiste furioso a los combates que disputan Gokū y Gohan frente a Cell, comprobando que su propia fuerza está por debajo de la de ellos. Interviene en la lucha contra los Cell Jr en la que es herido, aunque es el que más resiste (Gokū estaba muy agotado tras luchar con Cell y por eso aguanto menos).

Su "puesta en escena" tendrá lugar cuando Cell mate a Trunks. Lleno de ira, Vegeta ataca a Cell con una ráfaga interminable de su Renzo Kikouha, que resulta inútil, ya que Cell, ileso, se planta frente a él y lo lanza contra el suelo, siendo salvado por Gohan. Vegeta intervendrá, en última instancia, disparándole un rayo de energía y desviando su atención justo antes de que Gohan lanze el Kamehameha que acabaría finalmente con él. Tras estas luchas, Vegeta queda desmoralizado e incluso se plantea no volver a pelear, aunque su amor por el combate hace que al poco de tiempo vuelva a entrenarse sin cesar.

Después de esto Vegeta continua entrenando durante 7 años sin descanso, aumentando su poder de manera considerable.

Acepta participar en el 25 Tenkaichi Budokai (en cuyas pruebas eliminatorias pulveriza la máquina de medición de la fuerza del puño, para asombro del público) dado que su eterno némesis Kakarotto (Son Gokū) iba a regresar del más allá por un día para participar. Ambos quedan clasificados para luchar entre ellos, pero el destino les reservaba una carta distinta (de momento). La amenaza del hechicero Babidí y el monstruo Buu les obligó a abandonar el torneo (junto con Gohan, Piccolo, Krilín y los recién llegados Shin y Kibito) para plantarles cara en su refugio. Vegeta se enfrenta a Pui Pui, uno de los esbirros más destacados de Babidí, tal es la diferencia, que Vegeta lo elimina sin ningún problema.

Posteriormente, en el combate entre Gokū y Yakon (otro de los esbirros) se enojó por que su eterno rival había pospuesto la pelea.

Enojado, el príncipe Saiyajin, dejó que Babidí lanzara sobre él un hechizo de posesión, lo que le haría sufrir un gran dolor que le despertaría sus poderes ocultos (liberándose de cualquier sentimiento que debilite su corazón) y le permitiría medirse en combate a Gokū. La posesión se hace patente al aparecer una letra M (Majin) sobre la frente de Vegeta, que, pese a todo, logra mantener el control sobre su cuerpo y su mente.

Trasladados de nuevo al escenario del Tenkaichi Budokai, Vegeta destruye parte de las gradas (y a los espectadores que se encontraban en ellas) mediante un energy-ha. Gokū comprende el mensaje y acepta luchar con Vegeta, pidiéndole a Babidí que les traslade a un lugar alejado para poder combatir sin causar daños. Una vez allí, ambos se transforman en Super Saiyajin fase 2 e inician la que para muchos es el mejor combate de todo el anime por lo igualados que se encontraban ambos y por lo cruenta que fue la batalla en que ninguno de los contendientes quería ceder terreno al otro, al final Vegeta tiene cierta ventaja quizás por la ayuda extra que le brindan los poderes ocultos liberados por Babidi. Gokū se percata de que su "amigo" se ha dejado poseer por Babidí y le increpa con ello, ante lo que Vegeta se justifica con que la vida en la Tierra le estaba convirtiendo en un ser pacífico y deseaba volver a ser el guerrero despiadado de antes. Finalmente, ambos detienen la lucha al sentir la energía de Majin Boo, que para entonces ya había salido de su encierro (Cosa logica, ya que toda las heridas inflinjidas en Goku y Vegeta iban a parar a dentro del capullo donde se encontraba el monstruo. Gracias a esto, se reunión la energia necesaria en muy poquisimo tiempo). Vegeta deja inconsciente a Gokū con un fuerte golpe en la nuca y va a enfrentarse a Majin Boo en solitario, ya que sentía que el era el único responsable del despertar de esta nueva amenaza. Vegeta destruye la nave espacial de Babidí, cortándoles la salida de la Tierra, y ataca a Majin Boo con varios golpes contundentes, incluido un rayo de energía con el que logra atravesarlo.

Pero la materia de la que está hecho su enemigo no se quiebra con estos ataques. Vegeta se da cuenta que aunque su nivel de combate sea superior al de su rival, no terminaría con la pelea jamás ya que Boo no sufre ningún daño en los ataques. Boo siempre logra regenerarse y muy enfurecido por los golpes sufridos hace gala de su poder de destrucción y de sus técnicas poco ortodoxas pero letales, arrancándose un trozo de carne y después lanzándoselo a Vegeta, que queda a su merced durante varios segundos. Salvado por la intervención de Trunks, Vegeta se despide de su hijo con un emotivo abrazo, tras el cual lo deja inconsciente. Su intención ahora es sacrificarse para eliminar a Majin Boo, ya que ha comprobado que no existe otra forma de hacerlo. Piccolo le deja claro su destino: su cuerpo se desintegrará y su memoria se borrará para reencarnarse en otro ser. Resignado, Vegeta se rodea de un aura de energía sorprendentemente grande, que destruye todo lo que encuentra a su paso mientras que dice: "Adiós Bulma, adiós Trunks y también Kakarotto." siendo la primera y única vez que llama a Gokū amigo. Al extinguirse, Vegeta ya ha desaparecido. Pero no así Majin Boo que, reducido a unas cuantas porciones de carne esparcidas por el suelo, consigue regenerarse.

Poco después es mandado a la Tierra por Enma Daiō para que vaya a combatir a Majin Boo al ver el poder que expulsa al enterarse que no pudo acabar con Boo cuando hizo su ataque suicida. Al llegar se encuentra con Gokū quien le pide que se fusione con él a través de los pendientes Potara para vencer a Boo que acababa de absorber a Gohan, pero Vegeta en un principio se rehúsa debido a su orgullo, aunque al no ver otra alternativa acepta.

Al fusionarse con Gokū dan origen al guerrero llamado Vegetto (combinación del nombre Vegeta y Kakarotto) que supera los poderes de Boo, aunque se dejan absorber a propósito para ingresar al cuerpo del monstruo y logran rescatar a sus amigos que habían sido absorbidos por el demonio. Luego éste destruye la tierra, y continúa la batalla en el planeta de Kaioh Shin, Vegeta forma parte de la batalla final contra el Boo original (pequeño) transformándose en Super Saiyajin 2 y aguantando en varias ocasiones la batalla (cuando Gokū pierde la transformación de Super Saiyajin 3 y queda inconsciente durante algunos instantes y luego en dos ocasiones más, mientras Gokū reunía energía para destruir al monstruo, en lo cual fracasa y después distrayéndolo mientras Gokū reunía la energía de la Chou Genkidama), además es de vital importancia ideando el plan de usar las Dragon Balls de Namek parar revivir a los humanos, reconstruyendo la Tierra y que los humanos den su energía a Gokū para crear la Chou Genkidama con la que destruye al Boo Pequeño. En esta batalla Vegeta finalmente deja de un lado su orgullo y su odio a Gokū y lo reconoce como "número uno" en la lucha. También lo reconoce como su mejor amigo.[cita requerida]

Tras la destrucción de este enemigo nacerá Bra, la hija del Príncipe de los Saiyajin, mientras que Vegeta continua entrenando como siempre, exigiéndose al máximo por superarse. (Quizás Vegeta no haya dado suficiente como padre o esposo, pero esta saga demuestra que realmente quiere a su familia y ésta a él).

孫 悟飯 Son Gohanda

Gohan es el primer hijo de Son Goku y lleva el nombre del abuelo adoptivo de su padre. Gohan hereda muchos poderes y en ocasiones sobrepasa temporalmente incluso a su padre. Es el primer híbrido Saiyajin/humano. En la saga de Cell, Gohan demuestra gran parte de su poder oculto, pero no todo; al convertirse en Gohan definitivo o Ultimate Gohan lo termina de desencadenar. En DBGT Gohan pierde su estado físico y disminuye su potencial.

A pesar de las quejas de Gokū, Chichi lo manda a la escuela para que se convierta en científico a los cuatro años. Pero antes, Gokū lleva a su hijo a Kame House para presentarle a Kame Sen'nin, a Bulma y a Krilin. En esta época, Gohan era un niño muy tímido y muy inteligente, y también tenía cola como su padre tuvo en su momento. La inteligencia es la principal característica de Gohan, además de su timidez, lo que le ayuda a lo largo de toda su vida, ya que junto con Bulma, Gohan es sin duda uno de los personajes más inteligentes de la historia, logrando con ello el máximo sueño de su madre.

Estando en la Isla, su tío Raditz aparece y secuestra a Gohan. Estando encerrado en su cápsula espacial, Raditz descubre el gran potencial de combate que tiene el pequeño, más aún que el de su padre, y éste se ve influenciado por las emociones de Gohan, que aumentan su poder.

Durante el combate entre Gokū, Raditz y Piccolo, Gohan se enfada, rompe la cápsula espacial y propina un golpe devastador a Raditz, lo que proporciona a Goku y a Piccolo el tiempo suficiente para matar a Raditz aunque Goku se sacrifica para conseguirlo.

Piccolo siente el poder de Gohan y se lo lleva para entrenarlo dejándolo solo en la naturaleza para que aprenda a sobrevivir frente a dinosaurios y otros peligros durante casi un año. Pese a todo, Piccolo lo vigila muy de cerca. Dos veces Gohan al mirar la luna llena se Transformó en Ōzaru y Piccolo tuvo que cortarle la cola. El resto del año Piccolo le enseña al pequeño cómo luchar sin apiadarse de él. Sin embargo, la naturaleza amable de Gohan hace que Piccolo le tome mucho cariño. Este guerrero namekiano que fue en su día enemigo de Gokū, se convierte en un buen amigo y un estricto maestro del joven Gohan. El futuro guerrero admira a su maestro namekiano e incluso empieza a vestirse del mismo modo que este.

Cuando llega el momento para los guerreros Z de enfrentarse a los dos Saiyajin, Vegeta y Nappa, intenta luchar con valentía pero, debido a su corta edad, se asusta. Cuando Nappa lanza un rayo de energía letal a Gohan, Piccolo se lanza delante de Gohan para protegerle, muriendo en el acto. Ante la muerte de su mejor amigo y mentor, lanza a Nappa un rayo 'Masenkō' que le podía haber destrozado si no se hubiese protegido.

Más adelante después de que Vegeta se transformara e hiriera a Gokū, y tras que Vegeta volviera a su forma normal, Gohan es el que se ocupa de mantenerlo a raya. Cuando todo parece perdido, pero Vegeta tenía la ventaja y tras hacer explotar su Ki, a Gohan le crece la cola, se transforma en Ōzaru y derrota a Vegeta tumbándose encima de él.

Durante el viaje a Namek el Saichōrō le despertó parte de su poder oculto, pero en la batalla con Freeza quedo muy herido. Al final Son Gokū con el estado Supersaiyajin le dijo que abandonase el planeta.

Antes de la llegada de Cell, Gokū y Piccolo le entrenaron duramente. Gokū sabia que podía ser más fuerte que él. En el Cuarto de la mente y tiempo Gohan logra ser un Supersaiyajin. En el juego de Cell, Gohan no esta a la altura de su rival. Cell le enfada destruyendo al androide A-16 y lanzando a Cell Jr. contra sus amigos. La rabia provoca que se convierta en un Supersaiyajin de fase 2 , barriendo fácilmente a Cell en su forma perfecta, así que Cell decide inmolarse y destruir la Tierra, pero Goku se sacrifica teletransportándolo con él al planeta de Kaio. Pero Cell consigue vivir gracias al generador de células ubicado en su cerebro y vuelve mucho más poderoso, en su forma súper perfecta. Gohan con un brazo herido, y Cell lanzan un super kamehameha y lo mantienen en acción, hasta que Cell se distrae gracias a un ataque que le propinó Vegeta, en este momento Gohan tiene la oportunidad y lanza con todo su poder el kamehameha lo que hace que Cell sea derrotado.

Participó en el 25° Tenkaichi Budōkai convencido por Videl, hija del "salvador del mundo" Mr. Satán. En el Torneo se enfrentó a Kibito convirtiéndose en Supersaiyajin 2, pero Spopovich y Yamu interrumpieron en el ring y le robaron la energía que Babidi necesitaba para renacer a Majin Boo. Intento combatir con el monstruo, pero este lo derroto fácilmente, y Gohan quedo inconsciente y con riesgo de perder la vida. Después fue llevado al planeta de los Kaiō Shin y fue entrenado por Rō Kaiō Shin, el que despertó al quebrar la espada Z. Este liberó todo el poder latente de Gohan, alcanzando el estado místico, superando en poder a un Supersaiyajin 3 pero sin necesidad de transformarse, por lo que apenas consume energía. Con este potencial desatado se enfrentó a Majin Boo. El combate fue fácil, pero se complicó al absorber a Gotenks y a Piccolo. Finalmente, fue absorbido por Majin Boo y adentro de su cuerpo, empezaron a pelear Gotenks, Gohan y Piccolo contra Goku y Vegeta cuando también fueron absorbidos, muere junto con Piccolo, Trunks y Goten cuando Majin Boo hizo explotar a la tierra y fue revivido con las esferas del planeta Namek. Más tarde se casa con Videl y tienen una hija llamada Pan, y se dedica a sus estudios. Se ve como al final de Dragon Ball Z en el último torneo, ni siquiera participa, por lo que se puede deducir, que se ha dedicado mas a sus estudios que a su entrenamiento.

ラディッツ Radittsu

Como todos los saiyajin, tiene un físico notable, cabellos negros que en su caso lo lleva largo(Como los de un Super Saiyajin 3, pero negro), y una cola larga y flexible cubierta de vello castaño. Al igual que el resto de su raza, es capaz de transformarse en Ōzaru con la Luna llena y siempre usa un dispositivo (Scouter) para detectar el potencial energético enemigo.

Se desconoce la edad exacta de Raditz, pero debió haber vivido el tiempo suficiente como para conocer las costumbres de los Saiyajin en profundidad. Debió conocer a su padre, Bardock, y probablemente también a su hermano Kakarotto al poco de nacer. Normalmente, se acepta que su edad es más avanzada que la de Vegeta, y que no fue eliminado por Freeza bien por un simple descuido, o bien por no poseer un poder lo suficientemente grande como para ser considerado como una amenaza a largo plazo.

Raditz es uno de los pocos saiyajin que consiguió sobrevivir a la destrucción del Planeta Vegeta ya que se encontraba conquistando un planeta cuando esto sucedió. A partir de ese momento formó equipo con Nappa y el príncipe Vegeta, ambos guerreros saiyajin de un nivel muy superior al suyo, siendo por tanto el más débil de los tres. Durante muchos años siguió trabajando junto a sus dos compañeros para Freeza sin llegar a saber que él es el artífice de la explosión del planeta y de la extinción de su raza. No obstante, este punto varía según el manga, donde nunca lo supo, y el anime, donde lo descubre gracias a Nappa.

Mientras era subordinado de Vegeta, Raditz realizó muchas misiones a las órdenes de este y de Freeza, hasta que eventualmente viajó a la Tierra para averiguar si su hermano había cumplido la misión que tenía encomendada desde que nació: la conquista del planeta para Freeza. No obstante ni el manga ni el anime especifican claramente el porqué de la demora de Raditz en ir a buscar a su hermano, ya que Gokū contaba unos 23 años cuando ambos se encontraron y Raditz nunca explicó nada a su hermano acerca de su vasallaje hacia Freeza, excepto revelarle la versión "Oficial" de los hechos. Sin embargo, Raditz descubre que Gokū ha perdido todo el instinto asesino de los Saiyajin, que desconoce todo acerca de su pasado y se siente mucho más unido a la población local del planeta que a él y al resto de su raza. Para Raditz esto supone un duro golpe y una ruptura de sus planes, así que intenta persuadir a su hermano para unírsele en la destrucción del planeta Tierra, pero éste no accede.

Ante la negativa de Gokū, Raditz secuestra a Son Gohan, su sobrino, para aprovechar el poder Saiyajin del pequeño y extorsionar a su hermano. Sin embargo el plan no resulta ya que, Gokū se alia con Piccolo y juntos pelean contra Raditz pero la pelea fue muy difícil para ellos ya que Raditz era muy poderoso,así que Gokū decide sacrificarse sosteniendo a Raditz para que Piccolo dispare su Makankosappo con el cual logra acabar a Raditz pero también con Gokū.

Justo antes de la muerte de Raditz, su scouter(rastreador)se mantiene en contacto con sus compañeros Nappa y Vegeta y gracias a eso cree ilusamente que ellos vendrán a la Tierra para que puedan vengarle. Sin embargo, sus dos superiores no consideran que el esfuerzo merezca la pena y su intención es otra, la de conseguir las Dragon Balls para conseguir la inmortalidad, y así enfrentarse a Freeza. En el juego Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi2 hay una historia alternativa llamada hermanos aciagos en la que en su combate contra Piccolo se hiere en la cabeza y pierde la memoria y durante su recuperación se entrena con Gokū cuando recupera su memoria se siente indeciso y en un sueño pelea con su padre Bardock tras este sueño Raditz coge su nave saiyan y se estrella con las de Nappa y la de Vegeta impidiendo así que llegaran a la tierra.

フリーザ Furīza

Cierto día estableció contacto con la raza Saiyajin. Dada la afición de estos seres a la lucha, Freeza decidió comprarles los planetas que conquistaran, y los mantuvo a su servicio un tiempo. Sin embargo, su mayor temor era que fuera cierta la Leyenda del Super Saiyajin, así que por seguridad decidió destruir el Planeta Vegeta, aunque se salvaron los Saiyajin Raditz, Paragus, Turles, Broly, Nappa, el Príncipe Vegeta, el Príncipe Table y Kakarotto.Existen dos versiones de cómo sucedió esto:

* Freeza se enfrentó previamente al Rey Vegeta, al que venció sin ninguna dificultad, y posteriormente destruyó al planeta. Esto se ve durante recuerdos, exclusivamente en el anime.

* Freeza mandó aniquilar primero a todos los Saiyajin que habían salido en misiones al exterior excepto a Raditz, Vegeta y Nappa, a quienes mintió para controlarlos. Más tarde destruyó al planeta, y al resto de Saiyajin, con una bola de energía destruye planetas llamada Death Ball. Paragus, Turles, Broly y Kakarotto sobrevivieron gracias a que no se sabia nada de su ubicación.

Lo cierto es que hizo creer a los supervivientes que su planeta había sido destruido por un enorme meteorito; curiosamente, algunos dioses como Kaiō Sama llegaron a creerse esta versión, o posiblemente mintio sobre ese suceso para evitar que Goku se enfrentara a Freeza. Dodoria, uno de los guardaespaldas de Freeza, junto con Zarbon, le revelo esto a Vegeta cuando él estaba a punto de matarlo, y le suplico piedad. A Vegeta pareció no importarle nada y lo destruyo a Dodoria, pero en realidad ahí despertó su gran odio hacia Freeza, sabiendo que lo habían usado todo ese tiempo.

Tras la derrota de Raditz en la Tierra contra Piccolo y Son Gokū, tanto Freeza como Vegeta escucharon por el rastreador que era cierta la leyenda de las Dragon Balls, así que decidieron viajar a Namek, cada uno por su cuenta, para pedirle al Dragón Sagrado la inmortalidad. Freeza llegó a reunir todas las Dragon Balls, pero no consiguió invocar al Dragón ya que había que pedirle el deseo a Polunga en el idioma de Namek. En un descuido, Vegeta le robó las Dragon Balls y se alió con Gohan, Krilin y Dende con el propósito de hacerse inmortal para vencer a Freeza. Freeza los descubrió y mandó tras ellos a las Fuerzas Especiales Ginyū.

Freeza descubrió a Gohan, Krilin y Vegeta cuando pedían los deseos, Vegeta peleo contra el pero no pudo vencerle cuando Freeza hizo su primera transformación. Después de esto, Freeza Tortura y hiere de muerte a Krillin de un modo cruel (Lo ensartó con su cuerno y jugó un rato con él clavado) Piccolo llego a ayudarles luego de fusionarse con Neil, primero la pelea esta pareja, pero después Piccolo revela todo su poder, esta era muy superior a la primera transformación de Freeza, que tenía 1.000.000 de poder de pelea. Entonces Freeza se da a conocer en su segunda transformación, superando el poder de Piccolo y dándole una paliza. Freeza no dura mucho en su segunda transformación, después de esto revela todo su poder.

Su tercera transformación tenía aspecto inofensiva, infantil, pero que después, haciendo ver su poder, seria mucho más poderosa que las demás. Mientras tanto, Vegeta, lleno de ambición por convertirse en el legendario Super Saiyajin, le pide a Krilin que intente matarlo, porque los Saiyajins tienen la habilidad de aumentar su poder cuando se recuperan de una situación cercana a la muerte. Krilin lo hace con mucha dificultad, ya que no quería que Vegeta se haga más fuerte, pero lo termina haciendo. Vegeta, curado por Dende, decide enfrentarse a Freeza. Estaba seguro de que ahora el era el legendario Super Saiyajin, pero no alcanza ni a hacerle daño alguno al máximo poder de Freeza.

Al fin llega Gokū, Freeza utiliza el Death Beam o Rayo Mortal ante un Vegeta muy mal herido, provocándole la muerte. Vegeta, antes de morir, le revela a Gokū que Freeza fue el verdadero culpable de la destrucción del planeta Vegeta, y, por lo tanto, de su padre, Bardock, y todos los Saiyajins. Gokū decide pelear con todas sus fuerzas pero a pesar de que le da algunos golpes a Freeza, este le da una paliza y solo peleando a la 4ta parte de su poder, y Gokū usando el kaioh ken x20. Goku se decide a hacer la Genkidama con toda la energía del Planeta Namek y los demás planetas cercanos. Esta Genkidama pareció acabar con Freeza, pero Freeza logro esquivarla, primero quiso atacar a Gokū con su Death Beam, pero Picollo se interpone a costa de quedar muy malherido. Luego mata a Krilin, su muerte logra que Gokū desate toda su ira y se convierta en la etapa tan ansiada por Vegeta, el Super Saiyajin. A partir de ahí, Gokú le da una paliza a Freeza peleando. Con esto, Freeza se enoja y eleva su poder al máximo, aumentando su masa muscular considerablemente. Ahí, la pelea es pareja, llegando a ser una de las más espectaculares de la serie. Hasta que Gokú supera a Freeza, que al usar el 100% de su poder no lo logra controlar y comienza a perder poder, Freeza que con una bola de energía va a hacer estallar el planeta, después de un corto plazo de tiempo. Namek estaba a punto de estallar. Freeza uso dos Tsuibi Kienzan, pero cae al suelo en medio de la pelea, cuando se va a levantar, uno de los dos Tsuibi Kienzan lo parte por la mitad, Gokū le grita para advertirle pero es demasiado tarde. Queda cortado ya sin poder pelear, al irse Gokú le da un poco de energía para que pueda escapar, pero Freeza la desperdicia atacando a Gokú quien le devuelve el ataque.

Después de un año es reconstruido en forma de cyborg por su padre, King Cold. Al llegar a la Tierra se llevó la sorpresa de que Gokú no era el único Super Saiyajin; Trunks, hijo de Vegeta y Bulma, vino del futuro y derrotó sin ningún problema a Freeza, a su padre y a su ejército con la ayuda de su espada y de sus poderes de Super Saiyajin.

Se lo ve junto a su padre King Cold, Cell, Dr. Gero y otros villanos en el Infierno observando con una bola de cristal el último enfrentamiento entre Gokū y Vegeta contra Majin Boo, deseándole suerte a Boo. Esto sólo pasa en el anime (en el manga, el infierno no existe, o al menos, los malvados no conservan el cuerpo al morir).

クリリン Kuririn

Antes de su aparición en el manga entrenaba en el templo Ōrin (多林, 'Ōrin'?), donde sus compañeros y superiores siempre le despreciaban. Viajó a la casa del legendario maestro Kame Sen'nin para que le impartiera conocimientos de artes marciales, allí coincidió con Son Gokū.[1]

Tras acabar el entrenamiento, ambos se presentaron al 21º Tenkaichi Budōkai. En las eliminatorias, Krilin derrotó, para su propia sorpresa, de un modo sorprendentemente fácil a uno de sus antiguos compañeros del Templo, gracias al entrenamiento del maestro que principalmente se centraba en la forma física. En el su primer combate de las finales, peleo contra Bacterian, un luchador pestilente al que pudo vencer gracias a que Krilin no tiene nariz. En su segundo combate se enfrentó contra Jackie Chun, que no era otro que su propio maestro disfrazado. Krilin no consiguió vencerle, así que decidió seguir entrenándose en casa del anciano maestro.

Cuando Bulma y Son Gokū se dirigían en busca de una de las Dragon Balls bajo el mar, decidió unirse a ellos, pero fueron atacados por el General Blue del Ejército Red Ribbon, quien también buscaba la Dragon Ball. Tras una intervención de Son Gokū, la cueva subterránea se hundió y ellos apenas escaparon.

Cuando Gokū ya había conseguido seis Dragon Balls en su poder decidieron ir a casa de Uranai Baba, ya que la séptima no aparecía en el Dragon Radar, ella les prometió decirles donde estaba si llegaban hasta el final de su Torneo particular. Krilin fue el primero del grupo, pero perdió contra Dracula Man, así que Upa y Puar salieron en su lugar.

En el 22º Tenkaichi Budōkai se enfrentó en la fase final a uno de los discípulos del Tsuru Sen'nin, Chaozu, un misterioso luchador cuya mayor debilidad en combate fue no saber matemáticas. Pero en el siguiente combate lucho contra su mejor amigo: Gokū, cuando Krilin estaba a punto de perder decidió agarrarle por la cola, punto débil del Saiyajin, pero éste había entrenado para perder la debilidad y consiguió sacarlo del escenario. Al final del torneo, fue asesinado por Tambourine, uno de los engendros de Piccolo Daimaō.

El dragón Shenlong le resucitó junto con Chaozu y Kame Sen'nin después de la derrota de Piccolo. Se siguió entrenando hasta la 23ª edición del Tenkaichi Budōkai, donde en la fase final puso en el primer combate en aprietos al participante Ma Junior, pero al saber su verdadera identidad se acabó rindiendo.

Años más tarde, llegó a la Tierra el Saiyajin Raditz, pero Krilin no pudo hacer nada contra él. El invasor fue asesinado por Piccolo mediante un Makankosappo que también mató a Gokū. En ese momento se enteraron de que Vegeta y Nappa llegarían a la Tierra un año después, así que se fue a entrenar junto con Ten Shin Han, Yamcha, Chaozu y Yajirobe al palacio de Kamisama.

Fue, junto con Gohan y Gokū, el único superviviente de la lucha contra los Saiyajin, en la que destruyó a cuatro Saibaiman, y estuvo a punto de partir en dos con su Kienzan a Nappa. Cuando Gokū fue herido por vegeta, Krilin debió canalizar la energía de la Genkidama para atacar a Vegeta.

Con Gokū malherido, y Yamcha, Ten Shin Han, Chaozu e incluso Piccolo muertos, Krilin partió junto con Bulma y Gohan a Namek en busca de las Dragon Balls para resucitarles. Peleo contra las Fuerzas Especiales Ginyū, se unió con Vegeta para enfrentar a Freeza y salvo a Gohan de una muerte segura cortándole la cola a Freeza después de ser sanado por Dende. En este planeta fue asesinado por segunda vez a manos de Freeza, lo que provocó que Son Gokū se convirtiese en Super Saiyajin.

Fue resucitado en la Tierra con las Dragon Balls de Namek tras la destrucción de este planeta y el traslado de sus habitantes al nuestro. Durante unos meses, tuvo una novia llamada Maron(relleno de anime), pero no duró mucho su relación.

Cuando Trunks del futuro les avisó de la próxima llegada de los androides del Dr. Gero, reanudó sus entrenamientos con más intensidad que nunca. Con la liberación de 3 de los androides varios de los Guerreros Z se enfrentaron a ellos pero fueron derrotados fácilmente, aunque no los mataron; a Krilin no le atacaron porque éste no les atacó primero (no se atrevió debido a la diferencia de fuerza), y la C-18 le dio un beso con el que Krilin se enamoró de ella. Convenció a sus amigos de que esos androides no eran tan malvados como los que había visto Trunks en su línea temporal, y llegó a destruir el controlador que Bulma había hecho para paralizar a los androides.

Durante el Juego de Cell, recuperó el cuerpo de la inconsciente C-18 y le protegió de las batallas. Hizo lo posible por debilitar a Cell pero no consiguió afectarle y Gohan le derrotó con ayuda de su padre fallecido. Cuando C-18 recobró el conocimiento, pidió al dragón Shenlong que eliminase el explosivo del cuerpo de los Androides.

7 años más tarde, el guerrero se había dejado cabello y estaba casado con A-18, con quien tenía una hija, Marron. Con la llegada de Gokū a la Tierra de nuevo, participo en el Tenkaichi Budōkai, y llegó a pasar a la fase final donde derrotó a Punta de un sólo puñetazo. Pero con el ataque sufrido por Son Gohan a manos de Yamu y Spopovich, decidió ir en su busca acompañado de Shin, Kibito y sus amigos. Fue convertido en piedra por un escupitajo de Dabra, pero tras la muerte del Rey del Infierno recobró su estado normal. Sin embargo, poco pudo hacer luego de la llegada de Majin Boo, siendo convertido en chocolate por el monstruo. Fue entrenado en el planeta Dai Kaiō por este junto con Yamcha,en donde se le ve luchar contra Kid Buu el cual le da una paliza. Después, fue revivido con las Dragon Balls.

ピッコロ Pikkoro

Piccolo fue engendrado por Piccolo Daimaō como último recurso al ser derrotado por Son Gokū. Durante sus primeros 3 años de vida se desarrolló rápidamente, llegando a aparecer como adolescente en el 23° Tenkaichi Budōkai.

Entró al torneo con el seudónimo Ma Junior (マジュニア, Majunia?, Mal hijo o hijo del mal) a vengar a su padre. Su primera pelea en las finales fue contra Krilin, quien peleó con toda su fuerza desde un principio gracias a un consejo de Gokū pero terminó rindiéndose tras probar la fuerza de Piccolo. En la segunda pelea se enfrentó contra Shen, una persona normal poseída por Kamisama, quien quería encerrar a Piccolo usando el Mafūba pero Piccolo logró retornarle la técnica y encerrarlo a él en la botella. En la final tuvo su tan ansiado enfrentamiento con Gokū, pero este lo logra sacar de la plataforma luego de una ardua pelea en la que ambos quedan muy heridos. Gokū come una Semilla del ermitaño traída por Yajirobe y le da otra a Piccolo, quien se marcha amenazándolo con volver.

Cuando Raditz encuentra a Piccolo buscando al guerrero más fuerte del planeta, Piccolo no logra hacerle daño y Raditz se marcha antes de acabar al encontrar una señal mayor. Piccolo se une a Gokū para hacer frente a Raditz pero son superados en fuerza por lo que Gokū decide sacrificarse para sostenerlo y que Piccolo los atraviese a ambos con su Makankōsappō.

Piccolo se lleva a Son Gohan a entrenar para la llegada de Vegeta y Nappa. De principio deja al niño por su cuenta para que aprenda a valerse por sí mismo, pero vigilándolo de cerca por si acaso, incluso tuvo que intervenir en dos ocasiones que Gohan se transformó en Ohzaru al ver la luna llena. Conforme pasa el tiempo, comienza a tenerle aprecio al muchacho.

Con la llegada de los nuevos contrincantes se reunió con los Guerreros Z para hacerles frente, pero fue asesinado por Nappa cuando protegía a Gohan.

Durante su estancia en el más allá fue entrenado por Kaiō Sama, hasta que fue revivido con las Dragon Balls de Namek. Allí se fusiona con Nail donde se enfrenta contra Freezer en su segunda forma,y sin problema alguno derrota a Freezer en ese estado, pero es superado cuando este se transforma una vez más. Intenta atacar a Freezer en su forma final junto con Gokū, pero Piccolo es herido de gravedad y es llevado de vuelta a la Tierra por Shenlong.

Más adelante, en la saga de los androides, será derrotado junto con Vegeta, Ten Shin Han y Trunks, y se marchará directamente al palacio de Kamisama para fusionarse de nuevo con él. En este estado es capaz de vencer a un supersayajin y así también ver a cualquier rincón de la tierra gracias a que se fusionó con el antiguo dios de la tierra. Así detecta a Cell, que ha venido del futuro en la nave de Trunks y está atacando a la población de una ciudad para aumentar su energía. En ese estado, Piccolo vence fácilmente a Cell, por lo que éste huye para encontrar y absorber a los androides 17 y 18. Ante el peligro que supone, Piccolo decide enfrentarse él mismo a los androides para destruirles antes de que sean absorbidos, y se bate de igual a igual con Nº17. En ese momento en que ambos estaban debilitados, aparece Cell, que le deja prácticamente muerto y absorbe al androide Nº 17. Es rescatado por Goku y llevado al palacio, donde se recupera de sus heridas con ayuda de una Semilla del Ermitaño. Después de esta pelea con el androide N°17, Piccolo deja de ser uno de los protagonistas, teniendo una discreta participación en la batalla final contra Cell.

Al saber que Goku regresaría del otro mundo por un día, para participar en el Tenkaichi Budōkai, se inscribe en él, pero se retira del combate ante el Kaiō Shin del Este. Después, al saber sobre Majin Boo, ira con Goku y compañía a la nave de Babidi, donde es convertido en piedra por Dabra, aunque vuelve a la normalidad al morir este. Al despertar Boo, estuvo a punto de eliminar al mago Babidi al cual dejo agonizando, pero tuvo que huir antes de la autodestrucción de Vegeta y la restauración de Boo. Luego de la batalla entre Goku SSJ3 contra Majin Boo, la cual obligo a Goku a dejar antes la tierra, fue el encargado de enseñar la técnica de la fusión a Goten y Trunks, con resultados muy buenos así el junto a Gotenks entraron a la sala del tiempo y del espíritu para enfrentar a Super Boo, cuando las cosas se veían mal para el demonio él decidió tragar a Gotenks SSJ3 y Piccolo a este no solo por su poder si no también por su inteligencia después es sacado del cuerpo del demonio pero es muerto debido a la explosión de la tierra, después es revivido y da su energía para hacer la Genkidama con el que sería derrotado Boo.

ヤムチャ Yamucha

Nacido en el año 733 de cronología de Dragon Ball, se ganaba la vida como asaltante de caminos al lado de su amigo Puar. Cuando era un bandido del desierto se encontró con Son Gokū y Bulma, en su primer encuentro casi vence a Gokū, pero cuando vio a Bulma salió huyendo antes de robarles.[4] Mientras los seguía y planeaba un nuevo ataque escucho sobre las Dragon Balls, intento arrebatárselas pero esta vez fue vencido fácilmente por Gokū, quien ya no estaba con hambre. Decide unirse al grupo para robarles las Dragon Balls cuando las juntaran pero termino haciendo amistad con ellos, e incluso venció su miedo a las mujeres y empezó una relación con Bulma.[5] Participa en el 21 Tenkaichi Budōkai convirtiéndose en uno de los ocho finalistas, pero es vencido fácilmente por Jackie Chun, quien lo saca del tatami usando solo la presión del aire creada por sus golpes.[6] [7]

Cuando Gokū ataca la base del Ejército Red Ribbon Yamcha llega con Kame Sen'nin, Bulma y el resto a ayudar, pero para cuando logran llegar ya Gokū había acabado con el ejército. Luego de que la Dragon Ball no aparece en el Dragon Radar decide acompañar a Gokū donde Uranai Baba para averiguar su paradero. Para que ella les ayude deben vencer a su guerreros, Yamcha pelea contra el Hombre Invisible, venciéndole con un poco de ayuda de Krilin y Kame Sen'nin, pero luego es vencido por la Momia.[8]

Luego de entrenar tres años con Kame Sen'nin participa en el 22 Tenkaichi Budōkai donde califica entre los 8 finalistas se enfrenta a Ten Shin Hanen un gran combate en el cual el fue mas fuerte pero en un descuido es vencido y termina con una pierna fracturada; por eso no puede ayudar en la pelea contra Piccolo Daimaō.

En el 23 Tenkaichi Budōkai se enfrenta contra Shen, quien lo saca de la plataforma con un golpe luego de que Yamcha lo hiera con el Sōkidan.

Con la muerte de Gokū cuando se enfrentaba a Raditz, Kamisama decide entrenarlos para la llegada de los otros Saiyajin. En la pelea contra Vegeta y Nappa es atacado por un Saibaman y muere al auto destruirse este. Ya en el más allá va a entrenar con Kaiō Sama. En el anime durante ese periodo logro derrotar al también fallecido Recoome,de las Fuerzas Especiales Ginyū. Fue revivido después de la pelea contra Freeza. Durante el ataque de los androides fue gravemente herido por A-20, y en la pelea contra Cell combate sin éxito contra uno de los Cell Jr. y reaparece sólo al final intentando debilitar a Cell junto con Piccolo, Krilin y Tenshinhan. Después se retiró como luchador.

Durante la Saga de Majin Boo apenas lo vemos en acción, una de las pocas veces fue lanzadole una pequeña bola de energía a un dinosaurio para conseguir una de las Dragon Balls, luego lo veremos peleando en el planeta Gran Kaiō, donde fue entrenado por este y mejoró notablemente su nivel de combate. De hecho, vence a dos guerreros del otro mundo, entre los que destaca Oli, que fue siete años atrás uno de los luchadores más fuertes del otro mundo. Más tarde aparece junto con Krilin para luchar contra Majin Boo en el mismo lugar.

ナッパ

Es un saiyajin muy alto y musculoso, a diferencia de la mayoría de su raza es calvo. Aunque sus genes le dan el aspecto de alguien de 30 años, en realidad Nappa tiene 50 años, y es visto por primera vez con el príncipe Vegeta después de oír hablar de la muerte de Raditz en las manos de Piccolo y de Gokū. Viaja a la tierra con Vegeta para recolectar las Dragon Balls y así poder desear la vida eterna. Es un guerrero del ejército de Freeza y divulga sus logros a Freeza directamente, junto a Raditz y a Vegeta.

Después de llegar a la tierra, Nappa y Vegeta buscan las Dragon Balls, pero son enfrentados por los guerreros Z. A las órdenes de Vegeta, Nappa crea seis Saibaiman. Nappa primero ataca a Ten Shin Han, logrando separar uno de sus brazos. Nappa pronto es interrumpido por un ataque suicida de Chaozu, que se aferra en la parte posterior del gigante y estalla. Sin embargo, el ataque no le hace ningún daño y Nappa vuelve su furia a Ten Shin Han; pero como él está próximo a morir, es detenido Nappa por Piccolo y Krilin. Sus ataques fallan debido a que Gohan, hijo de Gokū, no atacó a Nappa cuando se lo dijeron. Ten Shin Han intenta vengarse de Chaozu y se mata mientras que enciende su ki mediante un ataque con su mano; la ráfaga daña la armadura de Nappa, pero todavía lo deja relativamente sin daño.

Nappa entonces empieza a pelear contra Piccolo y Krillin, pero es detenido por Vegeta, que ha decidido esperar a Gokū para demostrar su fuerza. Nappa es renuente al principio, casi desobedeciendo a Vegeta, pero se somete una vez que Vegeta demuestre una cierta pérdida de calma.

Después de tres horas. Nappa es distraído por Krillin y Piccolo quienes toman su cola, el punto débil de los Saiyajin. El plan falla, pues Nappa ha entrenado a su cola para soportar tal táctica. Él rápidamente golpea con su codo a Piccolo en la cabeza y liberándose para ahora atacar a Krillin y a Gohan.

Nappa mata en última instancia a Piccolo cuando el Namekiano utiliza su cuerpo para proteger a Gohan de un ataque mortal. Gohan, enfurecido por esto, utiliza toda su energía en una ráfaga; un ataque que Nappa detiene. Cuando Nappa está a punto de acabar con Gohan, Gokū llega.

Nappa no puede vencer ni siquiera golpear a Goku e incluso su último ataque no le hace ningún daño. Cuando Vegeta pierde la paciencia con el trabajo de Nappa le ordena retirarse, Nappa decide disminuir su humillación luchando contra Gohan y Krillin. Goku lo detiene con un Kaiō Ken que lo retrocede.

Nappa, ahora demasiado débil para estar de pie, es lanzado a los pies de Vegeta por Gokū. Como castigo por su falta, Nappa es sacudido violentamente en el aire por el príncipe de Saiyajin. Después de que él insulta a Vegeta por su traición, Nappa es destruido en última instancia por una ráfaga de energía de Vegeta.

Después de morir, Raditz y Nappa son enviados al infierno por Emma Daiō.

One of my biggest moments of self-discovery(as far as anime fanboyism is concerned) was realizing that, after I had spent years angrily railing about how FUNimation's dub "mis-translated" Kaio-Sama's name as King Kai... I found out that "King Kai" is actually a totally appropriate translation. In fact, if it's a work in english, he SHOULD be King Kai. See, the "O" in Kai-O means "King." The -Sama is just an honorific. I WAS A FOOL!

ANYWAY... King Kai is the god of 1/4 of the galaxy! The North Quadrant. Yeah, they kind of gloss over it in the dub - Kami is the god of earth (again, basic translation would just call him God, but the translators have some common sense), and Grand Kai is god of the whole galaxy! Dragon Ball Z has hilarious theology.

King Kai lives on a tiny planet (and I mean TINY. My house is bigger) at the end of Snake Way in the afterlife. he's got a little house, an awesome 1968 Chevrolet Bel Air hardtop, a pet (divine) chimpanzee named Bubbles, and a cricket buddy named Gregory! Though Gregory is only in the anime. I don't care, he's fun.

King Kai was Goku's very last teacher - after him, Goku just taught himself. He imparted a lot of info to Goku - introduced him to training in increased gravity (Kai's planet has a lot of gravity), taught him the invaluable Kaio-Ken and Spirit Bomb techniques (that last one won the whole series), and taught plenty of important technjiques and methods of training that served Goku time and time again. The two stayed really good friends, even after Goku accidentally KILLED THE GOD OF THE NORTH GALAXY AND HIS CHIMPANZEE AND HIS CRICKET AND WRECKED THE CAR BY TELEPORTING A SELF-DESTRUCTING BAD GUY THERE BECAUSE HE COULD NOT THINK OF ANYWHERE ELSE TO GO YOU ARE SUCH AN IDIOT GOKU. Actually, death didn't change anything for King Kai. He just gained a halo and moved to a new place. Btu he's awesome. He's not perverted, but he has an awful pun-based sense of humor. He can't fight worth anything himself, but his teaching was most of the reason why Goku went from unable to beat Raditz to totally steamrolling the Ginyu Force. Awesome!

Everyone gets introduced to the concept of the Antihero through various properties. The former nemesis of the hero that becomes a trusted ally or even close friend is a theme that is pretty common in literature and other forms of entertainment, and it's something that still being used.

For me, perhaps the first and most prominent Antihero ever will be Picollo from Dragonball.

Now, don't kill me as I'm not a walking encyclopedia of Dragon Ball, but if memory serves me correctly originally Kami, overseer of the Earth, decided that in order to better serve his role he decided to split himself into to halves - the good and the bad. The bad half became known as Picollo and I believe was introduced in one of the story arcs of the original Dragon Ball, and if not there, very early on in the Dragon Ball Z series.

After getting the crap kicked out him by Goku (and lets be honest, who in the show HASN'T had their ass handed to them by Goku), for some reason Picollo reforms, going from "guy who loses an arm and will Special Beam Cannon to kill Raditz even if means sacrificing Goku" to "guy who basically makes up for the fact that Goku is a dead beat dad".

Seriously.. a former mass murderer was a better father to Gohan than Goku ever was. What's next? Maybe Freeza will become Godfather to Krillan and Android 18's kid!

As time went on, Picollo's role as Goku's most powerful ally has slipped, with the Goku-Vegeta bromance going full tilt and showing no signs of stopping, and thus as a result he's not in the spotlight a whole lot anymore.

However, the flip side is that I don't have to worry about too many new Picollo figures coming out.

Presenting the Figurarts Picollo, all the way from 2009 when Dragon Ball Kai was in full swing, which in case you weren't aware, is the Dragon Ball saga retold (I think Z series only) without all the mood killing slow paced parts.

I have to say, for a figure that was released almost a decade ago that it holds up pretty well and, thank goodness, seems a lot better than the various Saiyans that came after him.

First off, lets talk toys, as it were. While stands and effects parts were not a thing even back in the day (sadly), Picollo comes with an assortment of hands, three head sculpts (turbaned, general grimace, focused), a set of crossed arms (something that took two releases for Vegeta to get right), and his tradmark cloak with two chest pieces, one of which is for dedicated use with the crossed arm pose.

Not bad for a set that came out 3 years before Vegeta did.

While I have Picollo displayed in pre Super Beam Cannon pose, for me his most iconic look will always be with his cloak and turban on, or as usually put it, before shit gets real and he takes off his physical inhibitors. Of course, Picollo can be displayed without the cloak on, which, if you're going for dynamic posing, is a requirement.

Unlike Vegeta and all the other Saiyans that came out along side him, they did not screw up the face of Picollo. The expression, decal work, everything looks spot on, or at least much more spot on as compared to the Saiyans. Fantastic to see in general, and considering there hasn't been a new Picollo in ages, was definitely a nice to have feature.

Sculpting on the whole looks really good, with no real complaints from me. Paint work is nice and sharp, especially on the yellow paint apps on his arms. Articulation, with the cloak off, is pretty much standard for a Figuarts, I suspect if Picollo were to be remade with more modern Figuarts technology like the fighting body developed for the Street Fighter line, the joints might be better hidden and range of motion would be even greater. But for your general posing needs even this version should be sufficient.

If there is one thing I find kind of odd looking with this figure, it's the lower torso. I think the proportions are off here, making it seem a bit long. That combined with the arrangement of legs makes it look like he's wearing diapers. Now that I think about it, Vegeta has this problem too.

I really do enjoy the character of Picollo, and am quite happy with this rendition of him. Sure, there are some improvements that can be made, particularly to the lower body, but for now this will happily suffice.

So if you're a fan like me, I'd definitely seek out this figure, probably the best action figure version of the character at this point in time.

Sculpting on the whole looks really good, with no real complaints from me. Paint work is nice and sharp, especially on the yellow paint apps on his arms. Articulation, with the cloak off, is pretty much standard for a Figuarts, I suspect if Picollo were to be remade with more modern Figuarts technology like the fighting body developed for the Street Fighter line, the joints might be better hidden and range of motion would be even greater. But for your general posing needs even this version should be sufficient.

If there is one thing I find kind of odd looking with this figure, it's the lower torso. I think the proportions are off here, making it seem a bit long. That combined with the arrangement of legs makes it look like he's wearing diapers. Now that I think about it, Vegeta has this problem too.

I really do enjoy the character of Picollo, and am quite happy with this rendition of him. Sure, there are some improvements that can be made, particularly to the lower body, but for now this will happily suffice.

So if you're a fan like me, I'd definitely seek out this figure, probably the best action figure version of the character at this point in time.

Everyone gets introduced to the concept of the Antihero through various properties. The former nemesis of the hero that becomes a trusted ally or even close friend is a theme that is pretty common in literature and other forms of entertainment, and it's something that still being used.

For me, perhaps the first and most prominent Antihero ever will be Picollo from Dragonball.

Now, don't kill me as I'm not a walking encyclopedia of Dragon Ball, but if memory serves me correctly originally Kami, overseer of the Earth, decided that in order to better serve his role he decided to split himself into to halves - the good and the bad. The bad half became known as Picollo and I believe was introduced in one of the story arcs of the original Dragon Ball, and if not there, very early on in the Dragon Ball Z series.

After getting the crap kicked out him by Goku (and lets be honest, who in the show HASN'T had their ass handed to them by Goku), for some reason Picollo reforms, going from "guy who loses an arm and will Special Beam Cannon to kill Raditz even if means sacrificing Goku" to "guy who basically makes up for the fact that Goku is a dead beat dad".

Seriously.. a former mass murderer was a better father to Gohan than Goku ever was. What's next? Maybe Freeza will become Godfather to Krillan and Android 18's kid!

As time went on, Picollo's role as Goku's most powerful ally has slipped, with the Goku-Vegeta bromance going full tilt and showing no signs of stopping, and thus as a result he's not in the spotlight a whole lot anymore.

However, the flip side is that I don't have to worry about too many new Picollo figures coming out.

Presenting the Figurarts Picollo, all the way from 2009 when Dragon Ball Kai was in full swing, which in case you weren't aware, is the Dragon Ball saga retold (I think Z series only) without all the mood killing slow paced parts.

I have to say, for a figure that was released almost a decade ago that it holds up pretty well and, thank goodness, seems a lot better than the various Saiyans that came after him.

First off, lets talk toys, as it were. While stands and effects parts were not a thing even back in the day (sadly), Picollo comes with an assortment of hands, three head sculpts (turbaned, general grimace, focused), a set of crossed arms (something that took two releases for Vegeta to get right), and his tradmark cloak with two chest pieces, one of which is for dedicated use with the crossed arm pose.

Not bad for a set that came out 3 years before Vegeta did.

While I have Picollo displayed in pre Super Beam Cannon pose, for me his most iconic look will always be with his cloak and turban on, or as usually put it, before shit gets real and he takes off his physical inhibitors. Of course, Picollo can be displayed without the cloak on, which, if you're going for dynamic posing, is a requirement.

Unlike Vegeta and all the other Saiyans that came out along side him, they did not screw up the face of Picollo. The expression, decal work, everything looks spot on, or at least much more spot on as compared to the Saiyans. Fantastic to see in general, and considering there hasn't been a new Picollo in ages, was definitely a nice to have feature.

Goku's older brother was a HUGE revelation in the series! Seriously. That's when the whole Saiyan thing started up, when this guy fell from space and rampaged. It's kind of funny how weak Raditz was in the grand scheme of things, and especially how you never heard about him ever again - this big, super-significant guy went the way of Jagi, really.

The bad half became known as Picollo and I believe was introduced in one of the story arcs of the original Dragon Ball, and if not there, very early on in the Dragon Ball Z series.

After getting the crap kicked out him by Goku (and lets be honest, who in the show HASN'T had their ass handed to them by Goku), for some reason Picollo reforms, going from "guy who loses an arm and will Special Beam Cannon to kill Raditz even if means sacrificing Goku" to "guy who basically makes up for the fact that Goku is a dead beat dad".

Seriously.. a former mass murderer was a better father to Gohan than Goku ever was. What's next? Maybe Freeza will become Godfather to Krillan and Android 18's kid!

As time went on, Picollo's role as Goku's most powerful ally has slipped, with the Goku-Vegeta bromance going full tilt and showing no signs of stopping, and thus as a result he's not in the spotlight a whole lot anymore.

However, the flip side is that I don't have to worry about too many new Picollo figures coming out.
