I make no apologies for yet another misty shot but this for me is in my top 10 of all time, taken a few years ago now but only just got round to editing it and this was the result, I was so taken with it i had to post it straight away, Fantastic moody atmosphere and I just love those misty winter colours, enjoy it!! I have got something like this already but this this was taken about 10 minutes later !

Die Strahlenschildkröte ist eine ursprünglich auf Madagaskar endemische Art aus der Familie der Landschildkröten.

The radiated tortoise is a tortoise species in the family Testudinidae. Although this species is native to and most abundant in southern Madagascar, it can also be found in the rest of this island, and has been introduced to the islands of Réunion and Mauritius. It is a very long-lived species, with recorded lifespans of up to 188 years.

A view through Hillock Wood, Buckinghamshire when the sunlight played in the morning mist. Moments like this are spellbinding and it is hard to force yourself to take images as you just want to stop and stare at the wonder around you.

Photo taken for the Macro Mondays’ theme “Radiate”.

In the morning during a brisk walk I saw that the sun's rays were starting to come through. I was hoping to get home in time to grab my camera and include some of these rays of the sun in a photo. The rising morning haze between the mountains gives the photo an extra dimension.

Sunrise this morning.

This beach has had an amazing change. The creek use to run into the sea further down the beach, it now runs parallel to the shoreline. It has created a pool in the middle of the sand and this pool where it enters the sea. Perfect for reflections. Nature has it's way...

I have never ever visited such an enchanting straw flower garden at the foot of the Himalayas!!

I couldn't understand which one should I photograph and which one I shouldn't!! They were so many of them.

Red straw flora beauty!

Hand held shot!!

The river Soar can always be relied upon for wonderful scenes in misty conditions and last Thursday certainly delivered again, with stunning misty rays of sunlight emitting from the Riverside trees.

The only cracked thing, apart from myself, that I could find was one of our fence posts.

The area photographed is 50 mm (2 inches) wide!

Happy Macro Monday!

This image was taken for the themed group Smile on Saturday. This week's theme is "floriography" The information below about the Gerbera Daisy comes from the following website. I personally found it to be very interesting and plan to visit the site to read about other flower meanings.

www.flowermeaning.com/

The gerbera daisy is native to South Africa and lush with bright colors and a happy beauty about it. These daisies are strong perennial plants with colors from deepest red to warm yellows, creams, white and peach shades. Not surprisingly the Victorian meaning of the gerbera daisy is happiness. The gerbera daisy seems to hold its rays open to the world radiating pure happiness. Who wouldn’t get a smile on their face when presented with a bouquet of these beauties?

What Does the Gerbera Daisy Mean? Gerbera Daisies have several meanings, but all lean to happiness. The Egyptian meaning of gerberas is closeness to nature and devotion to the sun. The Celts believed that the gerbera would lessen the sorrows and stresses of everyday life. Any type of daisy equals the truth or happiness of children. It is thought that if someone gives a gift of covered gerbera daisies that it symbolizes they are hiding something.

Etymological Meaning of the Gerbera Flower: The Latin name for the gerbera daisy is Gerbera jamesonii and is part of the large Asteraceae family of flowers. These daisies were named after the German botanist and doctor Traugott Gerber. Also known as the Transvaal Daisy. A Scotsman, Robert Jameson found these beauties growing wild around the dug up gold mines he was in charge of in Transvaal, South Africa, and Mr. Jameson is credited with also discovering these flowers.

The symbolism of the gerbera daisy is the simple beauty of a very happy life. Throughout history, the gerbera daisy has symbolized the innocent hearts of children, attributed to the white gerbera, and, happiness and gratefulness for the life you have been given. The meaning is more energized than contentedness or mellowness. It is happiness that bubbles, fizzes, and pops with joyous surprises.

There is an energetic playfulness to these flowers, which is evident in all their radiant colors. These are not flowers for regrets. These flowers are a celebration of life!

Gerberas are available in rich reds, oranges, yellows peaches, creams, and white and there a few distinct meanings including...

orange: sunshine of life

Red: unconscious in love or fully immersed in love

White: is a symbol of purity or innocence, childlike

Pink: admiration, adoration, or high esteem

yellow: cheerfulness

Hope you are having or have had a great weekend everyone.

This is the detail of a nasturtium leaf, they grow like weeds in my garden but I don't mind too much.

Colour re-edit of a shot from December 2017. After over a week of hard frosts that fail to thaw I really needed to find a smile that could warm up the coldest of days. Enjoy!

A creative close-up framing of several green palm fronds radiating and fanning outwards from a central point similar to the palm of a hand.

The fronds are brightly lit as sunlight is shining through them reflecting off their surface. The texture of the frond, including some fine fibrous strands, is visible upon closer inspection.

Palms radiate the tropical enchantment of Puerto Rico

“Happiness radiates like the fragrance from a flower, and draws all good things toward you. Allow your love to nourish yourself as well as others. Do not strain after the needs of life. It is sufficient to be quietly alert and aware of them. In this way life proceeds more naturally and effortlessly. Life is here to Enjoy!”

ELLIE GOULDING – YOUR SONG

FREEDOM

Seated in my dining room

I look towards the patio

where Buddha watches over me

through closed and hooded lids

so wise; so tranquil; so knowledgeable

an oasis of calm upon the ledge of the boundary of my life

my life may seem smaller now in some respects

my plans may have recently been shelved

but within the confines of my garden

my world is complete and in perfect harmony

there will be time enough I hope

when the illness that restricts my movements

has ended it's journey so that mine can then begin

this year I wanted to travel more

to see new places and revisit old memories

but “life is what happens

when we are making other plans” clichéd, yet true

so here I am and I can either watch the world go by

or I can wait for the world to come to me

for our knowledge of the world can be completely found

within the intricacies of nature; from the smallest insect

to the tallest tree and I can still lay on the grass

and look up to the sky; watch clouds endlessly floating by

imagine where they've been and all that they have seen

their watchful gaze takes in my form and carries it along

to another sky where someone else is also watching

how exciting it is to be a part of something

so much bigger than we are

the Universe; the Moon; the Sun and stars

I am not unique, but I am a part of you

and you are a part of me; together we make up the world

and who is to say that collective consciousness

is not within the clouds

or in the blinking of a shooting star;

or even a speck of dust carried on the wind

tomorrow that dust may settle on your shoulder or your shoe

and as you brush it gently away think of me

and I will know by the sound of the whispering wind

as it gently touches my face that the thought of me has travelled

and the thought of you is here,

so though we may stand still and barely move at all

we have in fact travelled the world together

have you ever caught a glimpse of a shadow

within your peripheral vision

only to turn and there is nothing there

perhaps that is me or one of you;

or at least the imprint that you have made upon this world

that travels freely within your mind and mine;

no borders can prevent this freedom that we have

the freedom of our minds can take us to the moon and back

in the blinking of an eye and the rain that falls on me

may someday fall on you; and can you see what happens

when raindrops trickle down the window

they merge and form a pool and that is us

one drop at a time we form the world; the whole.
