Taken before the start of a religious procession which was taken out to mark the Lord Krishna Janamashtmi or Lord Krishna’s birth anniversary celebrations in Amritsar, India.
She was dressed up as Goddess Radha and as you can see, she has a very cute smile :-)
Radha's family have come to the camel fair from Barmer to trade. She is excited that her father has purchased two baby camels.
Radha was full of life and energy, it is was noticeable, coming from family of relative means, how she had more room to play and be a child than many of the poorer kids I met..suppose it obviously really. A lovely little girl.

Krishna Janmashtami is an annual Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu. It is observed according to Hindu luni-solar calendar, on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in the month of Shraavana of the Hindu Calendar, which overlaps with August and September of the Gregorian calendar.
It is an important festival particularly to the Vaishnavism tradition of Hinduism. Dance-drama enactments of the life of Krishna according to the Bhagavata Purana, devotional singing through the midnight when Krishna is believed to have been born, fasting, a night vigil (jagarana), and a festival on the following day are a part of the Janmashtami celebrations.

This photo was taken in 2019. I put it up here but only yesterday when looking through my photos did I see this image. I blew up what I had and cropped and present the truth hidden in the original.
The lotus-eyed Krishna is the complete man of Indian mythological traditions. The togetherness of Radha and Krishna is the embodiment of true love.
Radha's passion for Krishna symbolizes the soul's intense longing the ultimate unification with the universe.
