Excavated by massive glaciers more than 10,000 years ago, Lakes Wanaka and Hawea lie side by side. At a sliver of land known as The Neck, which is just 1000 metres wide, the glaciers were once joined. #RTWSC

We are now in Cusco, Peru. While we had thought this city would only be a stopover on our way to Machu Picchu, every night we realise we need to stay another night. Though engulfed in tourism, it has a lot of

Locals from the surrounding villages and towns come here for their supply of groceries and other household items; sometime even to trade animals. For the tourists, the main draw is the cloth market which gives a chance to buy the colourful Bolivian textiles directly from the artisans.

Heavy clouds washed away the view of the sunset on the first two days of our stay on Isla del Sol. Elections in Bolivia forced us to stay on the island on the third day as well. The view of the setting sun behind the mountains in Peru made this extended stay totally worthwhile.
