Just a little playing around ... these two bucks practice their jostling with each other in the fall at Rocky Mountain National Park. It was fascinating to see them undergo this ritual and we even got to see a more mature buck teaching a young buck.
Happy Thursday everyone! Where does the week go? LOL. Thanks for stopping by to view.

I think people find the comparisons to the Nazi Germany and the Holocaust ridiculous because the idea that we would, in this day and age, put people in gas chambers and mass kill them is ridiculous.
The main point of the comparison is to note that ordinary Germans ultimately supported crimes against humanity.
The sad reality is that if you consider the wars that we are engaged in, our response to immigrants, our response to refugees, our actions to Muslims, the LGBQ community, to people of color and most importantly our role in the dire climate crisis: ordinary Americans are already supporting crimes against humanity. It's not coming if we don't adjust course: it is already here.
Not the young woman in her beautiful dress being photographed this time. I couldn't understand for the life of me why she would want to ruin her outfit by lying down in the dirt. I hope the shot was worth it!
John Lennon is a personal role model, for his desire and cries for peace in the world. An incredible artist who died 35 years ago today.

"A very Merry Xmas And a happy New Year Let's hope it's a good one Without any fear"
For all that is seen and that which is unseen...The grandeur of Yellowstone roles out in front of you from hilltop to valley and on again, I wonder, What do I not see?.... We know what we see but what else is there? from large mammals, bears, elk, buffalo down to the plants, mice and voles. Then what is all but unseeible, the mosses, lichens and bug....
It is a land of wonder and awe....one that we should cherish and protect for ever.
The Dodge WC54 Ambulance was a military vehicle produced by Dodge during World War II. It was based on the Dodge WC series of trucks and was primarily used as a medical transport for injured soldiers. The vehicle had space to carry stretchers, medical supplies, and a medical personnel. It featured a 4x4 drivetrain, a robust engine, and a heavy-duty suspension to navigate various terrains. The WC54 Ambulance played a crucial role in providing medical assistance on the front lines during the war.
The present ruins date from the 13th to the 16th centuries, though built on the site of an early medieval fortification. Founded in the 13th century, Urquhart played a
role in the Wars of Scottish Independence in the 14th century. It was subsequently held as a royal castle, and was raided on several occasions by the MacDonald Earls
of Ross. The castle was granted to the Clan Grant in 1509, though conflict with the MacDonalds continued. Despite a series of further raids the castle was
strengthened, only to be largely abandoned by the middle of the 17th century. Urquhart was partially destroyed in 1692 to prevent its use by Jacobite forces, and
subsequently decayed. In the 20th century it was placed in state care and opened to the public: it is now one of the most-visited castles in Scotland.

Princes Pier is a 580 metre long historic pier on Port Phillip, in Princes Pier, adjacent to Station Pier in Port Phillip Bay, is one of Melbourne’s most important cultural assets both as an exemplar of a pre-containerised shipping facility and as a place rich in Australia’s wartime, maritime and multicultural history. Words by Steve Brown, design director, NDYLIGHT.
Built between 1912 and 1915, it was constructed by the Melbourne Harbour Trust as a second railway pier in Port Melbourne, The pier was designed to handle both cargo and passengers, and also boasted office accommodation for customs officers and shipping companies as well as waiting room for passengers with moveable gangways making it safer and more comfortable to board or disembark.
Originally known as 'New Railway Pier', it was renamed Princes Pier in 1921 in honour of the royal visit by the Prince of Wales. The pier’s iconic two-level timber Gatehouse was added in 1935 to enable better monitoring of cargo and traffic on to and off of the pier.
Princes Pier is a heritage listed structure, and was the departure point for Australian troops during the First and Second World Wars, and also the arrival point for American troops during the Second World War. In a significant peacetime role, it was the first landing point in Australia for post-war migrants — more than one million between 1947 and 1969.
After the containerization boom and the last of the migrant ships in 1969 the pier became run-down and was decommissioned in 1985. It suffered severe deterioration over the next two decades, until in 2006 the Victorian Government decided Princes Pier would not be left to rot and committed $34 million to its restoration.

The Juniper Queen
For the past six consecutive years, I have been blessed to travel with friends to Central Florida to fish, tell lies, unwind and most importantly, to photograph. For half of those visits, hurricanes have played both major and minor roles on when or even if we could go. A lady named Irma, toppled ancient trees and raising the water level for months to follow, hit this area hard a year ago last month. Our yearly October 2017 trip was canceled and rescheduled for April 2018.
Arriving seven months after Irma’s wrath, her impact remained evident both above and below the waters surface. It was during our first trip to the mouth of the Juniper River that I noticed her once again sitting high above her domain, the Juniper Queen. I had reached a point in our relationship that I almost expected her to be there for my arrival. On each of my previous visits I would photograph her as we passed under her to get to our favorite fishing holes, but on this April day, something was noticeably different. After taking a few shots, I cropped into the shot on the back of my camera to better see what was catching my eye.
Sadness quickly became the mood of the moment as I viewed her portrait; it was evident that this old girl had been battered about severely. Feathers from the top of her head were missing and her normally brilliant white majestic head was several shades of gray. She had several wing and chest feathers protruding at all available angles, she just looked sick. The only good news was that she was still with us, holding firmly to her spot.
Wondering what could have torn her up like that, my mind turned quickly to Irma and the battle for survival that must have taken place with all of God’s creatures in a hurricane. I pictured her riding out Irma right there; in her spot with the same attitude and gusto of Lt. Dan riding out the hurricane in Forest Gump, asking along the way “is this all you got?” Her photos from last April were so sad, I’m pretty sure that I simply deleted them. No lady wants her picture taken looking so poorly.
Earlier this month, as we cut across Lake George heading for the Juniper River, I could see from a distance that she was still there, holding her own…a blessing for us both. With the dark skies of one of Hurricane Michaels last bands behind her I took this shot. Looking so much better, so much stronger and as they say “Large and in charge” the queen was in fact back and in charge of her domain, with her newly developed head feathers protruding like a much deserved crown.

At The Tank Museum, Bovington, Dorset, England, United Kingdom, on Friday 23rd June 2023.
About the photograph.
This photograph shows a couple of re-enactors dressed as Second World War American soldiers, often nicknamed as G.I., sitting in their Willys MB or Ford GPW jeep. Note another re-enactor as an American soldier, kneeing on the other side of the jeep, near the rear.
The photographs were converted to black and white in Adobe Lightroom and cropped for a more dramatic action, and as homage to the WWII era where black and white photos are more common than colour photos.
The Willys MB or the Ford GPW jeep is formally called US Army Truck, ¼-ton, 4x4, Command Reconnaissance, and more commonly known simply as the Jeep.
When Germany was starting to arm itself, they manufactured their own light multi-role utility vehicle known as the Volkswagen Kubelwagen. The Americans decided they want a similar light multi-role off-roading vehicle to do a similar job.
A number of automobile companies joined together with the US Army, to come up with an idea. The companies included theAmerican Bantam Car Company, Willys-Overland, and Ford Motor Co.
They started the design work in 1940 and lasted into the early 1942. Unlike the German vehicles which had to be built to specifications approved by the German military, the Americans opt for vehicles built in part using commercially available parts, and in part to military requirements, making it possible for the vehicle and spare parts to be manufactured by various car manufacturers.
( Side note: This is the reason the Americans were able to churn out a lot of M4 Sherman tanks in high numbers (approx. 49,000), compared to the Germany building only approx. 1,300 Tiger I tanks. )
Between 1941 to 1945, over 647,000 jeeps were built, of which 359,000 by Willys and 277,000 by Ford.
The jeep’s standard specifications are the same for both the Willys MB and the Ford GPW models.
The jeep uses a 2.2 litre engine offering up to 60hp, with 3 speed gearbox, and four wheel drive. The total weight without fuel is 2,337 lbs. The jeep could go up to a maximum speed of 65mph on the road, and an optional range of up to 300 miles.
It became the most iconic military vehicle of the Second World War, and had been offered to various Allies, including Soviet Union.
About TANKFEST and The Tank Museum.
The Tank Museum is found next to the British Army military base, simply called Bovington Camp, and is used by various tank regiments.
The writer Rudyard Kipling once visited Bovington in 1923, and saw some damaged tanks left from the First World War. He recommended that a museum should be set up.
However the museum was simply a shed, and was not open to the public until about 1947, when the museum was finally set up.
By about 1982, the museum was expanded and modernized, it housed many various different tanks in the Exhibition halls, along with working tanks which are often show in the live action arena.
The museum also has the only working German Tiger I tank, known as Tiger 131.
TANKFEST is an annual live action re-enactment event showing off various working tanks in staged display, in the museum’s showground known as Kuwait Arena.
