Vitré is a town located in the Ille-et-Vilaine department of Brittany, France. It has a population of approximately 20,000 people and is known for its medieval architecture, including a castle, ramparts, and half-timbered houses.
During World War II, Vitré was occupied by German forces and its residents experienced hardships and restrictions imposed by the occupying army. The town saw heavy fighting between the German army and the Allies, and was eventually liberated by American forces in August 1944.
The people of Vitré played a significant role in the resistance movement during the war, and their sacrifices and efforts are remembered and honored to this day.

Sansia Old Street” generally refers to the southern section of Minquan St., and is about 200 meters long. The buildings have stood since the earliest period of the Republic of China. Various words on the building fronts represent surnames, names, and shop names, and their signage is very different to today’s. The buildings are equipped with magnificent verandahs, which are the most impressive parts of the buildings along this street. Their decorated archways are rich in culture and they play a valuable role in reminding people of the need to preserve historical relics. The outer walls of the buildings are built with red brick, while the inner walls were made of clay. The outer parts of the buildings are decorated with a variety of patterns, and in particular the second-floor windowsills, making them all the more beautiful. There are many with traditional Chinese patterns, animal motifs, and even foreign patterns. Opposite Minquan St. is a smaller wall, known for its unique styling, featuring solid, hollow, and framed styles of decoration.

I shot this one late night when the fog at the Golden Gate Bridge seemed to be situated in the opposite of the usual scenario with the north side of the strait immersed in the vaporous phenomenon, while the south side was clear.

Camille (the tabby) stays close whenever I take one of the indoor-only cats out for a few minutes in the sun. She gets agitated if I turn my back to pull a few weeds, or she thinks I'm not paying attention. Here, she is watching Otis wallow in the planter of catnip.
The fifth image in this series of images I took in and around downtown Toronto. The tall ship Empire Sandy, which runs chartered tours along Toronto's waterfront was originally built as an Englishman/ Larch Deep Sea-class tugboat for war service by the British government in 1943. After the war she served a number of different roles under different names. In the early 1970s she was to be sold for scrap, but fortunately got a new lease on life when she was bought by a new owner who had her completely rebuilt and converted as a three-masted schooner in the style of the 1880s.

I snapped this photo shortly after this freefall parachuting tandem team jumped out directly under the midday sun. With a 1000mm focal length and atmospheric haze, sharpness was not to be, but to my delight, I captured part of the sundog and its rainbow.
Needless to say, their skills were amazing!

Pride leaders pay a heavy price for their position as is evident from this battle-scarred warrior. I watched an older lion, too weak to join the food fest after a kill, still play a dominant role when it came time to bring down a big bull buffalo. It still went out to challenge another younger and stronger looking male encroaching on the pride’s turf. The photographer part of me wanted to photograph a fight but my tender side wanted the pride leader to live to fight another day. There’s nothing like lions to bring out emotions.
