This was a bit of a rush job after getting stuck in 2 traffic jams so we just made it with only a couple of minutes to get the pole up .
On 26/02/24 my path to bed after work was delayed by trying my luck for 5R56 0852 Derby RTC-Castle Donington PRDC sidings operated by ROG 37884 & 37800 with 4 coaches for store. The wind was blowing a bitingly cold gale here and using a pole was very hard work, and sun was by far from guaranteed and only flashed out as the train neared this end of the viaduct.. but luckily the old adage, don't go = don't get couldn't be used, as I did go, and I got !

Earlier I described how the border impacted the railway Lipusz - Bytów. It's now time to show something from the border station itself.
Róg used to be the border station, where the line from Lipusz terminated. Its German name, which it had carried for the first 40 or so years of its existance, was Sonnenwalde (Kreis Bütow). The Polish name is way more compact and just means 'horn', or 'corner'.
It certainly is a nice corner in Kashubia. Surrounded by fields which are left after the local forests had been destroyed in 2017.
Currently it is very peaceful, as barely any trains pass throgh here. The station buildings have of course been repurposed and now live on as normal housing with gardens just like the one on the picture right on the trackside. The SM42-2622 right near it is passing the eastern side of the ex-border station as it's heading to Lipusz as a light engine for the second part of a loaded cement train for PREFABET in Osława-Dąbrowa. It is so peaceful here that you would never think that this once used to be a relatively important line with a very stormy history.

These band tail pigeons have gotta go; they're eating me outa house and home. Shortly after I took this shot, they had drained the seeds in the feeder down to well below the the top feeding hole. In the meantime, all the finches and other little birds are flitting around in the trees, hoping there will be some food left after the pigeons finally finish gorging themselves. Even the squirrels had to wait their turn. We've always figured all birds and critters are welcome to come and enjoy the feast, but these big band tails are just a bit too much.
