Blue Ridge Scenic about 4,000 ft up on the blue ridge parkway, just another view of the beautiful mountains in North Carolina.
The Andes run in three ridges down through Peru. This town lay in the valley after the first pass from the coast. The difference in climate and vegetation within just a few hours, passing from desert to lush green, was amazing...

I am mining the 2014 archives again for this week's Fence Friday shot. Processed in a painterly style, it was captured on a wet and foggy autumn day somewhere on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina, USA.

It's that magical time of year at Echo Ridge. Fires are lit and cabins are warm as the snow starts to fall on the evergreen forests. Hear the ice sing under the setting sun and make a wish upon a shooting star.
Skate, Toboggan and explore before snuggling under a blanket beside the campfire while sharing stories over a mug of hot chocolate.
Experience Echo Ridge in its winter guise, relax and and enjoy this peaceful retreat.
We hope you enjoy your visit and thank you for being mindful of our tenants.
Please use shared environment so you can see the ice, world menu - environment- check use shared environment :-)
The lake was formed due to a massive landslide at Attabad village in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. The landslide blocked the flow of the Hunza River for five months. The lake flooding also inundated over 12 miles (19 km) of the Karakoram Highway. The lake reached 13 miles (21 km) long and over 100 metres (330 ft) in depth by the first week of June 2010 when it began flowing over the landslide dam.

The view south from Sgurr na Banachdich on the Skye Cuillin. Most prominent are the peak of Sgurr Dearg with the Inn Pinn on the right, and Sgurr Alasdair on the left with a snow covered Great Stone Chute. A fantastic day with not a breath of wind on the ridge.
Sarrail Ridge is a 11.3-kilometer trail located near Kananaskis, Alberta. It is rated as difficult. The trail starts from the Upper Kananaskis Lake parking lot.
Scramble to Sarrail Ridge was tough, lots of people returned after enjoying the beauty of Rawson Lake from the bottom.
From Rawson Lake to Sarrail Ridge, still quite people at the first 2/3 scrambling, reaching to the steepest part, needed rope to climb, another portion of people gave up, returned⊠This final third is both physically and mentally challenging but entirely worth it for the view at the ridge! The view on top of the ridge was spectacular!

This 1243-ft. concrete segmental bridge on the Blue Ridge Parkway snakes around the slopes of Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina. It was completed in 1987 at a cost of $10 million and was the last section of the Blue Ridge Parkway to be finished.
This was taken in the middle of the day with a polarizer.đ© I like the colors better late or early in the day as they are softer I think, but you take what you can get.
