USS Intrepid CVS-11 refueling DD-826 USS AGERHOLM July 1967.
Brings back memories of doing same while onboard Glennon.
Once from JFK (I think) in a storm just after leaving Philippines.
Hoses were ripped from the forward refueling station by the violence of the storm. All fuel had to be taken onboard through aft refueling station where sheltered by hanger.
Another time on the way to South East Asia taking on fuel from Oilier and them playing “Riders On The Storm” with enough volume for us to hear.
This is what the RF spectrum of the LA area (from Redondo Beach) looked like on the morning of June 12th (Analog TV cutoff). This picture was taken before most of the stations went off the air. I believe only 2 stations had made the transition at this point. After the rest of the stations go off the air I will post an "after" shot.
Spectrum analyzer is a 1965 vintage HP 851. It was one of the factory analyzers used for comparison and reference when other analyzers were sent in for repairs. It covers Mhz to 12.4 Ghz, or up to 40+ Ghz with external mixers.
We seeing the squirrel more often now. This time he/she came down on the ground eating some of the peanuts I dropped.
For the last 10 minutes I was outside, the sun came out.
