The sacred can gather us in this world that looks like an archipelago. As long as there is respect for it, as long as remains a reverence for the mystery of the soul, all won’t be completely lost.
Extract of "Sweet France: Where is your common sense?” from Sonia Mabrouk.
Le sacré peut nous rassembler dans ce monde qui ressemble à un archipel. Tant qu'il y aura du respect pour lui, tant que subsistera une révérence pour le mystère de l'âme, tout ne sera pas complètement perdu.

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.”

TREES
What trees try to say
in their slow silence, their vague murmuring,
the sense they have, there where they are,
the reverence, the resonance, the transparency
and the bright and shadowy accents of an airy phrase.
And the shade and the leaves are the innocence of an idea
that between water and space turned itself to lithe integrity.
Beneath the magic breath of the light they are transparent boats.
I don’t know if it’s air or blood budding from their boughs.
I hear the finest foam of their green throats.
I am not, never will be, far from that pure water
and those ancient lamps of hidden isles.
What pure serenity of memory, what horizons
surrounding the silent well! It is a song in sleep
and the wind and light are the breath of a child
who upon a bough of a tree embraces the world.

Title has to do with my distorted reflection, leaning forward while trying to get a lower PoV :-)!
El título tiene que ver con mi reflejo distorsionado, inclinado para intentar un punto de vista más bajo :-)!

Cette chouette volait pas loin des habitations... Je me suis posé. Elle est venue vers moi... Magique..
Near my house, few seconds with this bird... It was flying near houses... Magical

“Gratitude bestows reverance, allowing us to encounter everyday epiphanies, those transcendent moments of awe that change forever how we experience life and the world.” - John Milton. On this Sunday, I am grateful for the spring colors and new life in our backyard. It is my place of meditation.

Fear can both be a good thing and a bad thing. In this case, having some healthy fear meant that once the lightning strikes became much more frequent and the wall cloud began to form, it was a wise decision to find a safer vantage point. Some things are immensely beautiful, but are also incredibly powerful and deserve the utmost respect. As I think of severe storms, dangerous mountain climbs, and raging waterfalls as a few examples of such things, I think about their Creator; the One who deserves our ultimate and utmost reverence!
Tidda watched me while I set up this memorial for Blanca and lit the candles one by one. I knew I also wanted a picture of her with the memorial but wasn't sure how to do it. I was very worried she might burn herself investigating the candles, so I asked her to sit at a safe distance and only took a few quick shots. I don't know what possessed her, but she stared right at Blanca's portrait for a long time with seeming awe and reverence!
When Blanca first came to me as a wild half-grown shelter pup, she had the benefit of living the first year with my wise old Sadie, who showed her how to be my dog. My previous dogs all had overlaps in their tenure, which made transitions a lot smoother. I knew Blanca was nearing the end of her time, but having two dogs isn't presently manageable and so there was no overlap.
Tidda, who probably had the roughest background of all my dogs, was on her own with her new life and a deeply bereaved person. It's no wonder we've had quite a rocky start. I was contemplating this photo and it occurred to me that something significant had happened. I think it wasn't until this candle-lit moment at the memorial that the baton truly passed from Blanca to Tidda.
"In their highest boughs the world rustles, their roots rest in infinity; but they do not lose themselves there, they struggle with all the force of their lives for one thing only: to fulfill themselves according to their own laws, to build up their own form, to represent themselves. Nothing is holier, nothing is more exemplary than a beautiful, strong tree." ~Hermann Hesse (Bäume. Betrachtungen und Gedichte)

I love the song Departure by the wonderful german band Frames
It features one of the best lyric samples in music I've ever encountered:
Hermann Hesse - Stufen (Steps)

As every blossom fades
and all youth sinks into old age,
so every life’s design, each flower of wisdom,
attains its prime and cannot last forever.
The heart must submit itself courageously
to life’s call without a hint of grief,
A magic dwells in each beginning,
protecting us, telling us how to live.
