A Tree Revealed. © Copyright 2022 G Dan Mitchell.
The branches of a winter oak tree, with only a few autumn leaves remaining.
This tree stands alongside a trail that I’ve hiked for years, one that runs up a little valley in the oak-grassland hills south of the San Francisco Bay. I have hiked here in all seasons for decades, but I think winter is still my favorite on this route. On Christmas Eve Day, it was sunny and pleasantly cool, with haze muting the light a bit. I approached this tree from the other side, and didn’t see the color of the leaves until I looked back it after passing.
It might surprise people from other parts of the country, but quite a few trees around here still have their leaves, either because they never drop them or because, like this oak, they manage to hang onto them all the way into the new year. While this oak still has a few leaves, glowing in the sunlight, most of them have fallen, revealing the silhouette of the trees branching structure.

----------------------------- JESUS ✝️ SAVES-------------------------------
SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST - ALONE!
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
❤️❤️ IT'S ALL JESUS AND NONE OF OURSELVES! ❤️❤️
16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the SALVATION of everyone WHO BELIEVES: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a RIGHTEOUSNESS FROM GOD IS REVEALED, a righteousness that is by FAITH FROM FIRST TO LAST, just as it is written: "THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH." (Romans 1:16-17)
16 KNOW that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH in CHRIST and NOT by observing the law, BECAUSE BY OBSERVING THE LAW NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED. (Galatians 2:16)
1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)
7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)
1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:1-13)
Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Saw this mixed bouquet, spotted a few of these beauties amongst other Spring flowers.
Tulips, of the frayed/frazzled variety. Because of the warmth of the lights, they opened and revealed all.
Ruffled skirts, ready to Rumba?
I don't talk to flowers, they talk to me and I gladly listen!
Yes, in full communication again.
Hope this makes you smile again, have a great day and thanx for your visit, so very much appreciated, Magda, (*_*)

Another image from Nolin at winter pool. The shoreline is ever hanging during this time. The sun flair is always unpredictable.
Low tide can reveal a lot of things that you don't often see. Captured at Fairy Cove, Paignton I came across this old broken pipe leading out into the water along with a load of seaweed all set against the backdrop of a lovely dawn sky.

Sometimes treasures are near home like this old barn standing just a hundred-some meters from my house. The extraordinary low light on a late afternoon was the perfect opportunity to capture these long shadows from the trees pointing to the barn.
Post-processing notes: Digitally blended from 2 different exposures. One for the sky processed through Lightroom. The other for the field and barn processed and masked through Photoshop's blending modes.
P.s. I think this is the last image for this week and certainly for the next as I'm going to recharge for a week .
Also I noticed that again there's a 5-page list full of contacts waiting for approval. To these people I'd like to say, please have a little patience. I will learn about each one of you, but due to quite busy schedules these days digging through such a list doesn't deserve my priority.

Well, the first snows of Winter are already a distant memory. No white Christmas this year, but the cold remains. The phone says 37 degrees, but the driveway says below freezing as I do a slight shimmy as I approach the car. Surely the road crews were out the night after Christmas treating the roadways. As expected, the roads are a beautiful glistening trap, waiting to snare any unsuspecting or reckless drivers this early morning. Luckily its just before 5:00 AM and I have plenty of time to safely and slowly get to my destination, Madison.
It has been a little over two months since I had been at Madison Beach and much, much longer since being there for Sunrise. The prime goal right at this moment was to get there in one piece, as the car shifted a little going up a slight hill. Slow and steady I’ll make it to my sunrise spot not so deady. Onward into the night, nary a car to be seen. Plodding, praying until I finally reach my destination. There is another person there, there usually always is, waiting to watch the Sunrise from the warmth of their vehicle, waiting to commune with the Sun.
Carefully making my way across the rocks to a grouping of rocks that catch my eye this morning, following the light from my head torch I set up in the dark and then begin the wait. As the Sun begins to brighten the horizon and slowly reveal itself, I take a series of shots that slowly reveal the light reflecting against the wet rocks. As the Sun makes its way up the last of the clouds has moved out of the scene. I take a couple of images of the main rock now being side lit by the Sun. Another morning both witnessed and enjoyed.
As the snow has retreated from around this deserted barn and silo, their age and impotence in the light of production becomes much more stark. When observed by casual passersby their first reaction takes in the decrepit sight and relegates it to a time long past that is unfamiliar to them.
Minnesota winters are a great equalizer. Lawns that are exquisitely manicured in the summertime look similar under a foot of snow to yards that are neglected for months at a time. Likewise, young and old folks alike are indoors much of the time and bitter winter days show an absence of folks sitting on lawn chairs or taking idle walks.
But come spring and summer, the differences are astounding as Minnesotans fill the outdoors in a pent-up exuberance as we challenge the daylight hours with exhausting work and play but a closer examination will reveal many of the most active participants are younger in age.

Mono Lake, Eastern Sierra, California
A scene at Mono Lake during an overcast fall evening. The lake is endorheic, meaning that water flows in, but not out. Such lakes eventually become extremely salty. Much of the freshwater that feeds Mono Lake has been diverted to Los Angeles and hence the lake's water levels have dropped significantly since the 1940s. There was a legal battle in the 1980s to prevent Los Angeles from totally destroying the lake. A legal agreement was reached to restore the water level to something more reasonable. The target level hasn't yet been reached and there is a continual fluctuation that hasn't been helped by recent arid years. However the lake was higher that evening than I remember it being in the last six years.
The lower lake levels have revealed tufa towers, limestone deposits created by cold water springs bubbling up into a saline environment. These are like catnip for photographers.
So here we have a tufa tower on the left with the eastern slopse of the Sierra Nevada mountains in the distance. The black streak on the shore is a swarm of alkali flies (Ephydra hians), a source of food for the various birds at the lake.
6L94 Westbury to Parkeston Sorting Sidings intrigued me enough to nip down to Saltley to see what it was. 66567 duly appeared some 19 minutes down at this point with a lengthy rake of MRA bulk ballast wagons in tow framed by Saltley Viaduct. the tractor and trailers in the foreground have been engaged in tree clearance in preperation for the replacement of Saltley Viaduct although the new bridge will only occupy part of the land an S.U.D./lake will be constructed on the vast majority.
The fact that her husband bought her underwear for Christmas was not, in and of itself, the problem. The problem lay in the nature of the underwear - control-top panties and something called a shaper.
"A what?" she asked, holding up the garment, which was made of heavy flesh-coloured latex.
"A shaper," said her husband, leaning forward, genuinely excited... anxious to appreciate his wife's appreciation. "The girl in the store said everyone's wearing them, even women you'd think are thin."
The wife was skeptical. Kneeling on the floor, surrounded by scraps of paper and ribbon and empty cardboard boxes, she turned the garment inside out and looked at its label. She pretended for some time to be absorbed in this. The husband assumed she was memorizing the washing instructions. In fact, she was trying to control her emotions. She was somewhere between bursting into tears (especially since the shaper was size XL) and having a full-blown, toddler-style tantrum.
What the fuck had the husband been thinking?
She glanced over. He still looked excited. "Put it on!" he said. "Let's see how it looks."
"Um," said the wife, still holding the garment. "Maybe tomorrow." Her voice was unsteady. The husband didn't seem to notice.
"No," he said. "Try it now! Please?" And she was baffled. The shaper was, as far as she could see, decidedly unsexy. It was, in plain terms, a girdle. And a heavy duty one at that.
She sat silently, looking at the thing, and wondering about her husband's excitement. "I know it doesn't look so hot in the box," he said, "but on, it's a whole 'nother story. Trust me!"
"How would you know?" the wife asked.
"Because," he gushed, realizing even as the words were coming out that he'd regret them, "the sales girl tried it on for me."
"Oh," said the wife.
"Yes," said the husband, feeling the air around her cool but still too lost in his own happy memories to take real notice.
"Yes," he said. "She tried on a whole bunch of stuff for me - fancy lacy stuff, and stringy things, and see-through things...."
The wife stared in disbelief. But he was on a roll.
"She looked soooo good in all those things," he said, "and I wanted to buy them for you. But she asked about your body type and we agreed that it just wouldn't be the same on you."
The husband was now staring into the middle distance... brain and other body parts still in the department store.
"She was tall and had these lo-o-o-ng legs," he said softly. He didn't have to add "Not like you."
And the wife really didn't need to hear any more.
As he continued recounting the tale of the long-legged sales girl in the change room with the lingerie, the wife got up and went to the kitchen and rifled through the drawers for the measuring spoons. She found the old plastic ones and, bracing them against the counter, cracked off the business end of the 1/8 teaspoon.
Back in the living room, she found her husband still staring off into the distance, mumbling something about see-through panels. Or maybe see-through panties. She couldn't hear him clearly.
"Here," she said, rousing him from his reverie. "For you."
He jumped a little and looked down at the tiny bit of broken spoon.
"What's this?" he asked.
"A cup," she said. "For when you next play hockey. I figure you can fit your gear and your common sense in there. And... here," she bent down and picked up the shaper. "You can hold it all together with this."
By getting right up to water's edge and using a polarizing filter I was able capture the magnificent lake-bed colours and shapes, seen through the calm, clear Lake Superior water

Taken for "Macro Monday's" group theme: Deception
=================================================>
Taken with Raynox MSN-505 Supermacro lens attached to my Canon G9...
I have no filters to date all except for my trusty Polariser. So no Soft grads, no ND stops etc etc. But the Cameras today and ofc the Post Processing powers on our PC's, Pads or Laptops cancels them out in my opinion. Still classifying myself as a beginner its mornings like in this photo pushes my little know how to the limit when in the field. But a simple adjustment on exposure compensation or the iso or the shutter speed. Add that little bit of you tube knowledge on Post Processing and voila! A wonderful Morning sunset with a rolling in fog appears.
To all those who have commented and favoured my photos since I joined, a huge thanks to you all. 172 followers as a beginner is just mind boggling for me. Thankyou so much.
Heritage revealed. We can't hid the Conrail heritage of this pup, but even further back, we have it starting its existance on the New York Central. I'd wanted to do some night photos of this for awhile, and finally got to it. Some graffiti was removed in Photoshop.
Mirror, mirror
Reveal to me
The cause of my discrepancy
And foolishness
That I must confess
Is breaking my heart and his
Mirror, mirror
Tell me why
My said ‘black heart’ I cannot dye
A red or blue
Or some brighter hue
To cover my heart’s sadness
Mirror, mirror
Bring to light
My love, to him who is my night
And day, and everything,
My one reason to sing.
And fan love’s flame within him

St. Nikolai church and *Angel with Trumpet* in Simrishamn. The oldest parts of the church date back to at least 1161, when it was just a small fishermans chapel.
There are two sculptures by Carl Milles at the church. *The Sisters* was acquired in 1953, and was offered by Milles at a reduced price on condition that the cement, covering the exterior of the church, be removed to reveal the underlying stonework.
The *Angel with trumpet* arrived at the church in 1978, but that shadow just makes me think of Peter Pan!

It was another rather unpleasant, very wet wait for Beinn Dearg to reveal itself from under the low blanket of cloud. However, as the cloud (almost) lifted above the mountain the sun briefly lit the facing slopes adding a splash of light to an otherwise drab scene. (Interestingly Beinn Dearg, though the 4th highest mountain in Torridon, does not meet the Munro criteria of 3000ft, missing out by just a couple of feet after being re-measured in 2007).
Mt. Baker finally breaks through the clouds revealing itself just before sunset, rising above Washington's Skagit Valley.
Most of the hull of F/V Orion is solid, glossy black, but peeling and rust here reveal a colorful history in layers of paint and metal.
