The Port of Royal Slope operates about 20 miles of Milwaukee Road's former Pacific Extension from Othello west to the junction of the six-mile Royal City branch. The track has only been operating for a few years and traffic is generally light and sporadic so far.
Here, a pair of SD45s lead an eastbound train past the old Milwaukee Road substation at Taunton, Washington. Othello marked the beginning of electrification on the Milwaukee Road to Tacoma and Taunton was the first of eight substations on this 216-mile segment of electrified mainline.

We are an Easter people,
hallelujah,
the angel reassures us that life is ...
out in the garden,
we are not alone
winter is over
and the crocus
has come again.

thinking of you all and wishing I could be in touch more fully....
May the Lord of lords
and the Hosts of hosts,
resurrect your spirits today and fill you with His Holy presence.
Happy Easter Sunday Friends!
Thank you for the most kind favs and comments.
I came across this when I was cleaning up my Photostream. I posted it three years ago, but only posted it in a few groups. My computer is down which means I won’t be working on any new images, so I thought share this while I wait for my new power supply.
This is a little flower spike I spotted at the RHS garden at Rosemoor earlier in the year. I just liked the colours of the flowers as they opened - the orange changes to violet. They’re really quite small - the spike is a couple of centimetres across, if that.
I’ve cooked this a little in Nik Viveza and Color Efex and gone for dark and moody after my surfeit of high key (and no motion is evident either - perhaps I’m healing!).
The day after I’d taken this image and about 300 others I managed to wipe my card. Eeek! But after several anxious days I got back home and managed to resurrect the images...
I know you are far too sensible and intelligent ever to wipe your card like that, but ever a friend of yours does then tell them to stop using the card immediately and then use some freely available software to recover the file contents (probably not the original file names). (Be a bit wary of some of the free stuff out there though - there be sharks about…)
Happy Mittwochsmakro :)
Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Macro Wednesday!

Oh what a glorious day! Today is a day that we remember Jesus rising from the dead, the grave could not hold His body and on the third day He rose again as He had said He would. Today is a day of celebration and remembering as we look back on what our beautiful Savior has done for us. He has set us free from the power of sin and death! Our old self was crucified with Christ and we are resurrected with Christ and given new life! We were once dead in our trespasses and sin, but Jesus being rich in love and mercy willingly offered His life as a ransom for us! He took on our sin and bore the full wrath of God that we rightfully deserved to receive as punishment so that we could be forgiven by His blood that was poured out. Jesus was the perfect sacrifice, He was the only One who ever lived a sinless life and could make final atonement for our sins. This is the best news we could ever hear, our sin has been forgiven and we have been made right with God because of what Jesus has done for us! If you have not yet received Jesus, I plead with you, do not waste another day living in your sin; repent of your sin and come to Jesus, ask Him to flood every part of your life. He will transform you and make you a new creation giving you new life free from the power of sin and death that hold you captive.

LET ME FALL – JOSH GROBAN
I am human
I am imperfect
I make mistakes
I am not a robot
and I am glad about that
because it is through our human condition
that we grow and become more enlightened
what is the light without the dark
what is happiness without sadness
what is calm without the storm
and I can endure this pain
because I am made stronger by it
because I experience more empathy by it
because I know what it is to be hurt
so I can enjoy the freedom that happiness
brings to my spirit
because I can fly
I can dream
and when I die
I will not stop to question why
but I will look back and be glad
I will not feel sad or bad
because I know I did my best
before my eternal rest
and if I ever let you down
I thank you for the lesson taught me
I thank you for making me a better person
I thank you for the time you gave me
before I sleep; before I dream
I count my blessings and all it seems
to me, to be, is a gifted life
not free from strife
but a life rich with experiences
some good, some bad
a rich tapestry of being
an open-eyed; freewheeling and all-seeing
roller-coaster ride that often left the tracks
but something in my soul would always bring me back
that little spark of life
that little spark of love
that never ending spark of hope
that's how I coped
just a tiny spark is all we need
to cast off the weight of shackles
that pull us to our knees
listen to the silence
listen to the sounds
of endless love
of eternal life
of all the things you held so dear
a gentle caress; a delicate tear
a fragile nature; a tender ear
everything that made you YOU
is in there somewhere
and no-one really leaves
those who are meant for you
we carry them in our hearts
we respect them;
let them shine like morning dew
a little spark again
a little spark in gentle rain
a little spark that softens pain
and eases all our burdens
until here we are at journey's end
the earth stands still; it is our friend
healing us; feeling us
our ancient arcadian circadian rhythms
connecting us; resurrecting us
life is a cycle that never ends
round and round it goes again
and each new incarnation brings
an older, wiser soul that sings
of life; of love
of all those miniscule precious things
in this moment I am complete
made whole again; firm on my feet
I toppled many times before
you let me fall; you loved me more
because you knew what it is to be me
you opened the cage and and set me free.

Colas Rail's 56113 is pictured idling at the Ravenstruther rail terminal on a cold morning while it's wagons are loaded with stone from the nearby Cloburn Quarry. This was the first train to be loaded here in almost 10 years following the collapse of Scottish Coal in April 2013.
Ravenstruther once hosted a rapid loading tower for exporting coal to power stations in Scotland and England. The site was owned and operated by Scottish Coal until their collapse in April 2013. The loader was demolished in 2016 and the site has lay dormant since.
The Cloburn Quarry Company - suppliers of red granite for various uses including railway ballast - expressed interest in loading aggregate products here a few years ago. SIte preparations have been underway for some time and they finally purchased the site from Hargreaves Land in October 2021 prior to commencing operations today.
The train will spend the rest of the day stabled in the terminal prior to departing to Carlisle on Friday 03/12 - hopefully the first of many loaded departures from this revived terminal.
Escanaba & Lake Superior drummed up another SD9 from its deadline to bolster its active fleet of locomotives. Here, former Reserve Mining SD9 No. 1221 switches cars in the former Milwaukee Road yard in Channing, Michigan.
ELS 1221 has been out of service since 2013 with the exception of a few months in 2016 when it was reactivated and loaned out to an online elevator.
ELS SD9 No. 1223 is also in operable condition, but hasn't seen service recently.

The maim leaves grow out in spring then die away - the stems reappear usually in late summer (August ) with pink blossoms . They may last two weeks.

Another dip into the archives. When I took this set of images I pretty much binned them as I thought they were unusable due to the amount of noise. I have recently started using Topaz Denoise AI which has resurrected a number of images
