Laura Ellen Bacon's Course

Course is deeply curvaceous work that descends into the River Cray, a chalk stream*, at Hall Place. Being peaceful yet uncanny, having a quiet, seeping stillness but also a momentum that seems to be guiding its weight towards the clear depths below.

My lovely bicycle - he's having to take some enforced rest as I have injured my knee, but hopefully it won't be too long before I'm back in the saddle - HSoS!

The lonely an mournful burying ground of long departed souls where the Endless: Permafrost wreaks havoc on their final resting place. slurl - maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Haraiki%20Bay/4/88/23

I was looking up at the sky and taking photos of the beautiful clouds above when this fell in front of me.

There's so much life all around. The fields and trees are green and vibrant and yet this leaf chose this time of year to find its final resting place.

Always nice when you start a gray day on the road, and you drive along a lake, the sky opens up, and you see this!.

Norway, a stunningly beautiful country. Around every corner a chance for a scenic image, forcing me from time to time to stop every kilometer to get out of my car, sometimes with screeching brakes, and sometimes forcing me to curse because there was no place to stop.

Lovely valleys, bare mountains and cold winds, snow packs, glaciers, beautiful lakes, and then there are the enchanting fjords that never stop to amaze. The most beautiful country of Europe, for me no doubt about that, with only one minor aspect, which is the weather. During my month of traveling I only had 4 really nice days, the rest of the time clouds, rain, and very changeable! Still no regret, and I will go back to make even more than the 3500 pictures that I took this time.

Another very active vacation that took me to the south west up to Trondheim in a sort of triangle between Oslo- trondheim and Bergen with the whole route visible here (www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153668247101759&set...).

Red-rumped Parrot (Psephotus haematonotus) juvenile

The Red-rumped Parrots in the Heathdale - Glen Orden Wetlands have had a good breeding season. There are many juveniles around.

This fawn and 2 siblings were resting in our neighbor's front yard, nibbling on the grass.

Bombylius major (Große Wollschweber, arge bee-fly) on Orchis mascula ssp. speciosa. fortunately, this fly took at long rest, letting me plenty of time to focus manually.

God pours life into death and death into life without a drop being spilled.

A brave and strong woman was taken from us yesterday.. so young at just 32, and taken by the wrath of cancer.

Her personality was bubbly, friendly and never once did she complain about the curse bestowed upon her.. her fight and resolve is an inspiration to me, and she'll be sorely missed.

Rest in Peace Deedee Fadoodle.

Pensée du jour :

Ne pleure pas parce que c’est fini, souris plutôt parce que c’est arrivé.

-Do not cry because it is finished, smile rather because it arrived.

This Little Pied Cormorant was resting in between a very successful diving for breakfast. We saw this bird and another for much of the morning and with several fairly large fish! Geelong Waterfront near Cunningham Pier HWW :))

This common wood pigeon (columba palumbus) had just expended a lot of energy in mating with its partner - time for a rest!!! Photographed in Great Horwood, Buckinghamshire, England.

A snakebird (anhinga anhinga) resting between dives on a tree stump protruding from the San Juan River, in Nicaragua.

A hammock showed up one day on the rivers edge, it was there about a week and then disappeared just as quick. Never saw it occupied, but it would have been a great place to rest a few.

A view from the west side trail. While the east side affords better views of the falls on the climb up, this was the only angle I saw where the upper cascades are also visible. A great day for a great hike.

Thanks for the fave's and comments. You can see the rest of the pics of our trip to Iceland clicking here.

This was a place I had meant to go for a long time, and was excited after my first night in New Zealand to head to this lake in the hope for mirror still water for the reflections of this.

The added bonus of the birds sleeping in the trees, the mountains with snow and the clouds in the distance is a bonus.

I think next time i'll use a longer lens so the houses aren't included, but I like the really wide angle lens as it captures the rocks in the foreground and really helps to really show how beautiful and isolated this tree is.

My mum wanted this in blue, so I left it as it is, but I think it suits a black and white photo as well.

enjoy!

Etta is doing plenty of resting after having some lumps removed. The coat is an attempt to stop her licking the wounds.

Letting my '92 Wrangler cool down a bit while I stretch my legs and capture some photons.

It's not that pretty anymore; this pic was taken shortly after I bought it about 12 years ago. It's considerably dirtier now, and the cover isn't as tight.

Not the normal place that I would see a Blue Heron. He is normally in one of the ponds not 100 feet from where he is now. He must be catching a few ZZZ's before he starts his food hunt again. The focus these birds have while they hunt is amazing.

My mother passed away after a long illness. Have not had much time for photography.

I'll get caught up with everyone at some point.

Thanks for stopping by.
