German postcard by Filmbilder-Vertrieb Ernst Freihoff, Essen, no. 901. Photo: Lothar Winkler. Klaus Kinski and Pierre Brice in Winnetou - 2. Teil/Last of the Renegades (Harald Reinl, 1964).
Intense and eccentric Klaus Kinski (1926–1991) was one of the most colourful stars of European cinema. In a film career of over 40 years, the German actor appeared in more than 130 films, including numerous parts as a villain in Edgar Wallace thrillers and Spaghetti Westerns. The talented but tempestuous Kinski is probably best known for his riveting star turns in Aguirre, the Wrath of God (1972), Nosferatu (1979), Fitzcarraldo (1982) and other films directed by Werner Herzog.
Klaus Kinski was born Nikolaus Günther Nakszyński in Zoppot, Danzig, Germany (now Sopot, Poland), in 1926. He was the son of a German father of Polish descent, Bruno Nakszyński, a pharmacist and a failed opera singer, and a German mother, Susanne Nakszyński-Lutze, a nurse and a daughter of a local pastor. He had three older siblings: Inge, Arne and Hans-Joachim. Because of the depression, the poor family was unable to make a living in Danzig and was forced to move to Berlin in 1931. They settled in a flat in the suburb of Schöneberg. From 1936 on, Kinski attended the Prinz-Heinrich-Gymnasium there. During World War II, the 16-year-old enlisted in the Wehrmacht. Kinski saw no action until the winter of 1944 when his unit was transferred to the Netherlands. His obituary in Variety magazine states that there he was wounded and captured by the British on the second day of combat, but Kinski's autobiography 'Ich bin so wild nach deinem Erdbeermund' (I Am So Wild About Your Strawberry Mouth, 1975) claims he made a conscious decision to desert. However, Kinski was transferred to the Prisoner of War Camp 186 in Colchester, Great Britain. The ship transporting him to England was torpedoed by a German U-Boat but managed to arrive safely at its destination. At the POW camp, Kinski played his first theatre roles in shows staged by fellow prisoners intending to maintain morale. Following the end of the war in Europe in May 1945, Kinski was finally allowed in 1946 to return to Germany, after spending a year and four months in captivity. Arriving in Berlin, Kinski learned his father had died during the war and his mother had been killed in an Allied air attack. Without having ever attended any professional training, he started out as an actor, first at a small touring company in Offenburg and already using his new name Klaus Kinski. He was hired by the renowned Schlosspark-Theater in Berlin but was fired by the manager in 1947 due to his unpredictable behaviour. Other companies followed, but his already wild and unconventional behaviour regularly got him into trouble. His first film role was a small part in Morituri (Eugen York, 1948) a drama about refugees from a concentration camp. In 1950, he stayed in a psychiatric hospital for three days; medical records from the period listed a preliminary diagnosis of schizophrenia. He only could find bit roles in films, and in 1955 Kinski twice tried to commit suicide.
Then Klaus Kinski got a supporting part in Ludwig II: Glanz und Ende eines Königs/Ludwig II (Helmut Käutner, 1955) about the frustrated and tragic King Ludwig II of Bavaria played by O.W. Fischer. More supporting parts in German films followed. In March 1956 Kinski made one single guest appearance at Vienna's Burgtheater in Goethe's Torquato Tasso. Although respected by his colleagues, and cheered by the audience, Kinski's hope to get a permanent contract was not fulfilled, as the Burgtheater's management ultimately became aware of the actor's earlier difficulties in Germany. He unsuccessfully tried to sue the company. Living jobless in Vienna, and without any prospects for his future, Kinski reinvented himself as a monologist and spoken word artist. He presented the prose and verse of François Villon, William Shakespeare and Oscar Wilde among others. Thus he managed to establish himself as a well-known actor touring Austria, Germany, and Switzerland with his shows. In 1960 he returned to the cinema as a sinister character on the verge between genius and madness in the thriller Der Rächer/The Avenger (Karl Anton, 1960) based on a crime novel by British writer Edgar Wallace. In another Wallace adaptation, Die toten Augen von London/The Dead Eyes of London (Alfred Vohrer, 1961), Kinski’s psychopathic bad guy refused any personal guilt for his evil deeds and claimed to have only followed the orders given to him. During the 1960s, Kinski appeared in several Wallace Krimis, which enjoyed enormous success in Germany and are now considered cult classics. He also appeared in many other European genre films such as the Karl May Western Winnetou - 2. Teil/Last of the Renegades (Harald Reinl, 1964) featuring Pierre Brice. In these films, he built a reputation as an effective screen villain. In 1964, he relocated to Italy and was cast in the international production Doctor Zhivago (David Lean, 1965) as an Anarchist prisoner on his way to the Gulag. That year he also had a small part as a hunchback in the classic Italian western Per qualche dollaro in più/For Few Dollars More (Sergio Leone, 1965) starring Clint Eastwood. Roles in numerous other Spaghetti westerns followed, including El chuncho, quien sabe?/A Bullet for the General (Damiano Damiani, 1966) with Gian Maria Volonté, Il grande silenzio/The Great Silence (Sergio Corbucci, 1968) starring Jean-Louis Trintignant, and Un genio, due compari, un pollo/A Genius, Two Partners and a Dupe (Damiano Damiani, 1975) with Terence Hill. When the Spaghetti Western genre was over its top, Kinski started to appear in other exploitation genres. Often these films proved to be brainless trash.
In 1972, in between his countless appearances in genre and exploitation films, Klaus Kinski suddenly found international recognition with the German production Aguirre, der Zorn Gottes/Aguirre: The Wrath of God (Werner Herzog, 1972). At AllMovie, Karl Williams writes: “The most famed and well-regarded collaboration between New German Cinema director Werner Herzog and his frequent leading man, Klaus Kinski, this epic historical drama was legendary for the arduousness of its on-location filming and the convincing zealous obsession employed by Kinski in playing the title role. Exhausted and near to admitting failure in its quest for riches, the 1650-51 expedition of Spanish conquistador Gonzalo Pizarro (Alejandro Repulles) bogs down in the impenetrable jungles of Peru. As a last-ditch effort to locate treasure, Pizarro orders a party to scout ahead for signs of El Dorado, the fabled seven cities of gold. In command are a trio of nobles, Pedro de Ursua (Ruy Guerra), Fernando de Guzman (Peter Berling), and Lope de Aguirre (Kinski). Travelling by river raft, the explorers are besieged by hostile natives, disease, starvation and treacherous waters. Crazed with greed and mad with power, Aguirre takes over the enterprise, slaughtering any that oppose him.” Kinski delivered a bravura performance that typified his screen image: that of an obsessive, terrifying, and emotionally unpredictable antihero. Kinski and Herzog would make five films together, including Woyzeck (1978), Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht/Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979) with Isabelle Adjani, and Fitzcarraldo (1982) with Claudia Cardinale. The volatile love-hate relationship between Kinski and his equally driven and obsessive director Herzog resulted in some of the best work from both men, and both are best known for the films on which they collaborated. Kinski and Herzog pushed each other to extremes over a 15-year working relationship, which finally ended after filming Cobra Verde (Werner Herzog, 1987), a production plagued by volcanic clashes between the star and director, involving violent physical altercations and mutual death threats.
The Encyclopaedia Britannica writes that Klaus Kinski “disdained his chosen profession, once saying, ‘I wish I’d never been an actor. I’d rather have been a streetwalker, selling my body, than selling my tears and my laughter, my grief and my joy’. Numerous offers from prestigious directors—whom Kinski categorised as ‘cretins’ or ‘scum’—were refused; he worked only when the money suited him.” Kinski was also notorious – and in high demand – for his scandalous TV appearances and interviews. The scandals paid off. Although he continued to appear for the money in countless trash films, Kinski also starred in such respectable films as the French melodrama L'important c'est d'aimer/The Main Thing Is to Love (Andrzej Zulawski, 1975) starring a memorable Romy Schneider, and the Oscar-nominated Israeli production Mivtsa Yonatan/Operation Thunderbolt (Menahem Golan, 1977), based on the 1976 hijacking of a Tel Aviv-Athens-Paris Air France flight and the daring rescue of its 104 passengers in Entebbe, Uganda. In the 1980s Kinski appeared prominently in such Hollywood productions as the comedy Buddy Buddy (Billy Wilder, 1981) as a neurotic sex scientist opposite Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau, and the thriller The Little Drummer Girl (George Roy Hill, 1984) featuring Diane Keaton. Kinski’s last film was Kinski Paganini (Klaus Kinski, 1989), in which he played the 19th-century ‘devil’ violinist Niccolò Paganini. He also wrote and directed the film and his wife Debora and his son Nikolai also starred in the film. The production was marked by chaos and clashes between Kinski and his producers, who accused him of turning their production into a pornographic film and sued him in court. The result was a commercial and critical flop. Kinski reinforced his image as a wild-eyed, sex-crazed maniac in his autobiography 'Ich bin so wild nach deinem Erdbeermund' (1975). In 1988 he updated and rereleased it as 'Ich brauche Liebe' (All I Need Is Love) and in 1997 it was again rereleased as 'Kinski Uncut)'. The book infuriated many, and prompted his daughter Nastassja Kinski to file a libel suit against him. Werner Herzog would later say in his retrospective film Mein liebster Feind - Klaus Kinski/Kinski, My Best Fiend (1999, Werner Herzog) that much of the autobiography was fabricated to generate sales; the two even collaborated on the insults about the director. In 2006 Christian David published the first comprehensive biography based on newly discovered archived material, personal letters and interviews with Kinski's friends and colleagues. Klaus Kinski died of a heart attack in Lagunitas, California, U.S. at age 65. His ashes were scattered into the Pacific Ocean. He was married four times: to Gislinde Kühbeck (1952-1955), Brigitte Ruth Tocki (1960-1971), Minhoi Geneviève Loanic (1971-1979), and to Debora Caprioglio (1987-1989). His three children Pola Kinski (1952), Nastassja Kinski (1961) and Nikolai Kinski (1976) are all actors.

As I was cleaning last week I realised I never posted these gals and guys on here. They arent true customs as they either still have their original hair or are wearing wigs. I made them as a sort of monster high characters doing cosplay in honor of the rerelease of the manga here in the states. So theyre all based, as best I could, on the manga costumes . Enjoy :)

it took me a while, but I finally got around to cracking open this beauty - presenting the Tamashii Nations Saint Seiya: Andromeda Shun God Cloth - 10th Anniversary Edition figure set, which I picked up at a Flea Market for $60 CAD.
If you were around during the early 2000s, you may remember a little toy line from Bandai called Knights of the Zodiac. Much like Ultimate Muscle, Knights of the Zodiac was based on an incredibly popular Japanese property - in this case, it was known as Saint Seiya, which had been around since the mid 80s. The series revolves around the chosen warriors of the Goddess Athena, who are gifted with armour sets, or "cloths" that draw their power from various constellations. I have yet to actually watch anything from this series, Japanese or American, but I do remember watching a bit of the first American episode and noting that they censored the living crap out of it. Other than that, the only other exposure I had to the series was occasionally I'd see pictures as a kid of the one they call Dragon Shiryu, who had some admitted badass looking gear. I think the number of suits in the series could probably give MCU Iron Man a run for his money.
The main gimmick of each figure was that you'd have a generic core figure (with the head generally being the only difference), and you could gear up each figure with chromed armour pieces. The Bandai of America releases were very much based on the sets I'd seen while clomping around Market Village and Pacific Mall in Markham, as the series popularity over in Asia made it a no brainer for local import toy stores to bring it relatively cheap figures from Hong Kong and sell them here. But this was 2004 - I had already graduated from University and was working full time, well on my way to becoming a toy snob. Furthermore, it was Bandai of America.. you just knew that they'd cheap out on something just to make a buck.
So, as you can imagine with no time actually watch the series, and effectively nobody ever talking about it locally, I basically had no real reason to keep up with the property. Little did I know Saint Seiya was an ongoing thing - it never did die overseas. So much so that Bandai of Japan actually went ahead and had Tamashii Nations further refine the figure line eventually resulting in the Myth Cloth Revival line, where all the original character were rereleased as new action figures, having core bodies that weren't quite Figuarts good, but were much improved over the original toys by at the very least allowing for figures with the proper body proportions and vastly improved articulation.
Andromeda Shun, as the name implies, is a character named Shun who wields the cloth of Andromeda. According to my research, Shun is generally hesitant to use violence as a solution to matters, but when he does all sorts of wonderful things happen. Considered the strongest amongst the core five saints (known as the Bronze Saints). His character has some other deep dark secrets that I'm not going to touch on, but overall, I'm told he's one of the most popular characters in the series. The God Cloth in the title indicates that this is the most powerful form of the named Cloth, in this case the Andromeda cloth. The original appears to have been released in 2009 (this was a 2014 figure), with improvements being more accurate colouring, and the addition of an alternate shocked expression face to recreate a key scene.
With the background out of the way, lets move on the actual overview.
First off, lets talk contents. This set MSRPed for 8,250 yen back in 2014, and even if you added inflation to the price there is no way in you'd get anything even CLOSE to what you get in this box for the price. You get the core body, two expressions (neutral, shocked), two front hair pieces (one for mounting the headgear), parts to the armour (all of which is die cast metal with the exception of the collar piece, wings, headgear, along with the chest and waist cover, and the pieces on the sides of the hands), two additional bracers with metal chains (main weapons), a formed plastic chain (Thunder Wave attack effect), 3 pairs of hands specifically for use with the armour (closed fists, chain gripping fists, posing hands), and the parts to turn the armour into an Object (think really ornate armour stand, which in the case of Andromeda is a kneeling figure) including some really intricate curved chains.
The armour itself consists of :
Headgear
Collar piece
Inner upper and lower torso frame
Chest piece
Waist piece
Pauldrons
Bicep guards
Forearm guards
Hip guards (both sides)
Thigh guards
Knee guards
Lower leg guards
Wings
As the photos show if it isn't on the core figure, it's either chromed plastic or it's coloured die cast metal parts. There's not a dull/unfinished piece on this gear whatsoever.
The main figure is larger than a modern day Figuarts - yes Nat is technically slightly smaller than the average male Figuarts, but its nothing that would change this statement. Very anorexic looking, which allowed for the equipping of less bulky looking accessories. The actual mobility isn't bad, as you get toe, ankles, double jointed knees, hips with thigh swivel, limited mobility waist and mid torso, shoulders with chest collapse, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, wrists, limited neck motion, and head articulation. The figure is also equipped with die cast clown shoes to improve balance both with and without the gear on. With the exception of the waist and torso, range of motion isn't too bad, and is definitely on par with the better offerings of 2009. Articulation of the various body parts is generally not further limited even after you equip the armour, with the sole exception being the upper body, which goes from limited movement to no movement due to the body armour harness effectively having no points of articulation whatsoever.
Equipping the armour is an incredibly painstaking activity, so much so that it took me almost 30 minutes the first time to put things on, mostly due to fear of scratching the finished surfaces. Even after realizing I had one of the leg armour pieces on backwards in my pictures, I decided that it's too much effort to put it back for a reshoot. You see, unlike the original Deluxe figures where you'd just clip on chromed plastic armour around the various limbs, this figure requires the removal of hands and legs to get the limb armour on. But, as much of a pain it is getting the parts on just right, and the limited range of motion overall, the finished product looks stunning, especially if you've got some bright lights on the figure. It's not quite Hot Toys die cast Iron Man, but it's pretty damn impressive nonetheless. As stated earlier, arms, legs, and head are generally unhindered even with the armour on.. that is to say it doesn't make it any worse. The pauldrons and hip guards have ball joints on the mounting parts to allow for more range of motion as to improve posing opportunities.
From an actual paint perspective, I honestly don't think there's much of it on the figure. There's the plastic hair, the hair, and the fleshtones. Everything else is pretty much chrome plating which looks glorious. There are some imperfections in the finish here and there, but those are rare to find. Overall, this is a one sharp looking figure. The chromed plastic parts blend in quite well due to excellent colour matching.
Build quality is picture perfect where it matters - the armour. Much like with the Hot Toys Iron Man line, the use of metal has allowed for thinner parts, which reduces the overall bulk of the figure, as well as permits for that fantastic metallic finish. Despite the general non linearity of the parts, everything fits together perfectly, which is saying a lot given how much assembly there is on this figure, and is a testament to the impressive QC that went into the manufacture of the armour parts, including the parts for Object. On the main figure, the only rough spot I could see was the finish on the waist section of the core figure wasn't great at all, but fortunately that section was effectively on the undercarriage, so it's not something that you'd normally notice. Based on my experience, joints will hold your desired pose, even with the additional weight of the die cast metal parts.
A few gripes before we adjourn. First off, by far the most annoying thing to do with this figure is to assemble Object mode. Not only do you need to keep track of the left and right parts (put on wrong the figure won't sit right), but putting the chains together is a major pain due to the small size of the connectors (both to the body and to each other) which is further exasperated by the fact if the forearms aren't lined up correctly you're going to have a hell of a time trying to actually get it right. If they (Tamashii Nations) designed the shoulders of the Object such that they would only point in one directly, why couldn't they do that with the forearms?
The second major issue I have goes back the usual gripe I have with Figuarts figures - the lack of a stand. While normally just annoying, the lack of a stand makes this figure a bit of a gamble to pose. You see, despite the giant metal clown feet, the figure can still fall over, especially when it's weighed down with all the armour pieces. Scratches is one thing, but my biggest fear is that it falls over backward, and either due to long exposure warps the plastic wings, or if you're really unlucky, falls over with a force that ends up snapping the wings. Neither of which are particularly attractive or desired, so until I can figure things out I'm leaving the Shun unarmoured.
Phew.. so there you have it. A long write up, but well worth it for a truly extraordinary action figure both from an aesthetic perspective as well as overall production values, a combination of which isn't really a thing these days unless you go one sixth scale or higher. I suspect "finishing the line", especially with my cheapness, is probably not something that is going to ever happen, but to be honest I say that about a lot of things. I guess at least I know what to look for, which is a good start.
With that said, it's off the next review, which I'm gonna flip a coin to decide on, but will be guaranteed to be less metal.
I'm always happy to see this casting recoloured and rereleased, its probably one of the best classic Mustangs in the modern Matchbox line up. Shock horror it even gets to keep its chrome bumpers and baseplate! Part of the new Rocky Peaks five vehicle set found recently at TK Maxx. Mint and boxed.

While most sculpture are trying to create a 3D sculpture based on 2D artwork, this guy is the other way around.
He's trying to keep the 2D effect on 3D sculpture. Really brilliant work.
Its like he came out straight from the book and he's still 2D. I think its a really cool effect.
I missed the first released, not going to missed this variant release.
The original is better cos they got the original mike mignola's logo, but this one will do too.

PERSONAL FUN FACT: Whenever I see a Moxie Teenz doll, I am automatically transported back to the first year I began collecting dolls again, after a five year hiatus. Colleen and I originally found the Moxie Teenz to be offensively ugly. We simply weren't used to dolls of such a large scale, or for that matter with "glass" eyes. They weren't anything like our beloved American Girls, who were the only dolls for the most part we had with inset eyes. But the more time we spent in toy aisles, the less we found the Moxie Teenz and Liv dolls that were there weird. In fact, I guess we spent so much time in the "monkey house" so to speak, that we actually grew rather fond of them. Colleen in particular found a fancy for the Moxie Teenz and often scoped them out whenever they were on sale. She persuaded me to buy "Formal" Bijou when we found one for just $2 at Toys 'R' Us. After that, it only seemed fitting to get a friend for Bijou. After all, we were both impressed by her quality and beauty. The Moxie Teenz were so cheap around this time frame because they were discontinued, so stores were trying to get rid of their stock. I saw my Tristen doll at TJ Maxx several times before I finally bought her. That's probably because there were other dolls I wanted more, and she wasn't quite cheap enough for me. But I found her for just $4 one night in 2014, and I couldn't resist. I think Tristen is even more gorgeous than Bijou. There is something so irresistible about her jet black hair, long eyelashes, and lilac eyes. Plus, I adore her 2010 styled ensemble more than Bijou's "prom" dress. I didn't realize it at the time, but my Tristen was actually a re-release of the "1st Edition." She doesn't have a wig, instead her hair is rooted. I'm actually super grateful for this, because in my experience MGA sucks at making doll wigs (no offense to my Bratz Style Starz). Plus, who could not appreciate this luscious saran hair?!!!

I really liked how the small amount of colour in my Hanekawa model looked, so I took that a bit further this time.
Anyway, same story as the rest, design based on the ending animations by Hajime Ueda from the Monogatari Series. Once again based on an official but extremely limited figure.
Oh boy this one's been a long time coming. I finished the design over a year ago, just waiting for that concave slope to be rereleased in yellow. Finally gave up waiting, redesigned it, and then the next day the 2020 set inventories were published and lo and behold, there it was. Another few weeks for it to show up on Bricks and Pieces, a few more weeks still for my order to actually arrive, and here we are. So yeah, this was meant to go up like a month ago

Animal Hospital (pseudo hdr):
A veterinary office in Hillsdale NY.
I drive past this everyday and have been wanting to shoot an hdr of it. Did this as a single raw test shot but except for a lack of clouds, I think this will do. Sorry if you saw this the other day... I had color-space mismatch and the colors were all dull so this is a proper rerelease.
Been tring to wrap my mind around all these color space issues trying to get my prints just right... kind of baffling stuff. I know now that prophoto and adobe rgb may be fine for print but not good at all for web, so this is in sRGB color space... much more bright and fun.
TECH: single raw tone-mapped as pseudo hdr in photomatix. Additional filtering in ps.
This is just a digital version of a work on paper. Please do not download and print. If you want a print of this image, let me know and I'll make you a really nice one from high rez source file on nice paper for a totally reasonable fee.
Thanks!

So far, this has been the only version of this Hot Wheels station wagon, the Mercedes-Benz 300TD. It was originally a Corgi casting, but Mattel bought several of their molds and started rereleasing them with Hot Wheels wheels.

The Brown-headed Cowbird is North America’s most common “brood parasite.” A female cowbird makes no nest of her own, but instead lays her eggs in the nests of other bird species, who then raise the young cowbirds.
Social relationships are difficult to figure out in birds that do not build nests, but male and female Brown-headed Cowbirds are not monogamous. Genetic analyses show that males and females have several different mates within a single season.
Brown-headed Cowbird lay eggs in the nests of more than 220 species of birds. Recent genetic analyses have shown that most individual females specialize on one particular host species.
Some birds, such as the Yellow Warbler, can recognize cowbird eggs but are too small to get the eggs out of their nests. Instead, they build a new nest over the top of the old one and hope cowbirds don’t come back. Some larger species puncture or grab cowbird eggs and throw them out of the nest. But the majority of hosts don’t recognize cowbird eggs at all.
Cowbird eggs hatch faster than other species eggs, giving cowbird nestlings a head start in getting food from the parents. Young cowbirds also develop at a faster pace than their nest mates, and they sometimes toss out eggs and young nestlings or smother them in the bottom of the nest.
In winter, Brown-headed Cowbirds may join huge roosts with several blackbird species. One such mixed roost in Kentucky contained more than five million birds.
The oldest recorded Brown-headed Cowbird was a male, and at least 16 years 11 months old when it was recaptured and rereleased during banding operations in Wisconsin.
To me their first album was the best, but the next 4 LPs were also masterpieces. This one is hard, rough and like the first Beatles, Stones and Who LPs - own compositions were mixed with a lot of coverversions. Beside some fantastic Songs, one was outstanding to me - BALD HEADED WOMAN. Even better than the WHO version. On this LP are songs from - Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley a.o. A Milestone in Rock & Pop history. It seems that this LP was in Germany only as british Import available. I've never seen a german Logo/Label from this platter. Even not at Discogs
Yesterday evening, I finally got round to backing up all the photo files (626 GB) on my hard drive to another, larger external hard drive. After a few hours, I checked to see how it had done and discovered that only maybe half the photos had been copied. So, I started a second copy, hoping that this time, all the files would be successfully copied. This morning, I found that it was successful. So, I decided to delete the first copy, forgetting that the second copy was actually downloaded within the first copy. So another nine hours wasted! Tonight, I will have to start all over again, and then I need to do the same with a second, larger hard drive. I am almost out of room on my computer hard drive and need to start deleting a lot of my oldest images, or I will not be able to download new photos to it, and I will start to have a lot of problems. I don't use my computer while the back-up is in process, which is a bit frustrating. Yes, I would much rather be out on a nice drive : )
On 13 July 2018, I more or less repeated my drive from two days earlier, except that I also called in at Brown-Lowery Provincial Park to see if there was any sign of fungi growing. It is still not the peak of the fungi season, so I was not too hopeful. I barely entered the forest, as it still gives me the creeps, - Bears, Cougar and Moose are seen there, and I have been told so many times not to go by myself. So far, I have only seen a very large Moose. I did find a cluster of very tiny mushrooms and several clumps of orange Coral Fungus in their usual location. Took a few wildflower shots, too, which I don't do very often these days, unlike a few years ago.
In Bluebirds, the blue colour is produced by the structure of the feather - there is no blue pigment. "Tiny air pockets in the barbs of feathers can scatter incoming light, resulting in a specific, non-iridescent color. Blue colors in feathers are almost always produced in this manner. Examples include the blue feathers of Bluebirds, Indigo Buntings, Blue Jay's and Steller's Jays."

"A female Mountain Bluebird pays more attention to good nest sites than to attractive males. She chooses her mate solely on the basis of the location and quality of the nesting cavity he offers her—disregarding his attributes as a singer, a flier, or a looker.
A male Mountain Bluebird frequently feeds his mate while she is incubating and brooding. As the male approaches with food, the female may beg fledgling-style—with open beak, quivering wings, and begging calls. More often, she waits until her mate perches nearby, then silently flicks the wing farthest from him—a signal that usually sends him off to find her a snack.
The oldest recorded Mountain Bluebird was a female, and at least 9 years old when she was recaptured and rereleased during banding operations in Alberta in 2005. She had been banded in the same province in 1997." From AllAboutBirds.
When Midnight Rose was first released wayyyyy back when I did not have the funds to afford her. I've always regretted passing. When they re-released her last year, I just had to have her. She is every bit a dream.
A few weeks late, but finally getting around to uploading my loot pic. Highlight of the year is the Black Seas Barracuda, rereleased version form 2002.
BOX DATE: 2020
MANUFACTURER: M.G.A.
DOLLS IN PACK: Glitter Queen; Cosmic Queen; Fresh, Majorette; Teacher's Pet; Rocker; Merbaby; Roller Sk8er; Line Dancer; Sis Swing; Royal High-ney; Leading Baby
RELEASES: 2016 Series 1; 2018 Series 1 "Re-Release;" 2020 Ultimate Collection Re-Released Series 1; 2022 Surprise Family
PERSONAL FUN FACT: It was smart of MGA to connect Merbaby's top and tail. It would have been way too frustrating trying to dress her in two separate articles of rubbery clothes. Connecting them also gives the outfit more structure and stability. I'd imagine that rough play could easily tear some of the smaller, more delicate pieces of L.O.L. clothes. Anyways, she also was equipped with this magnificent pearl headband. It's a little tricky to get to sit flush on Merbaby's head. But it looks adorable regardless. This basic style of bottle is very common in Series 1. It seems that many of my dolls from the "Merbaby" pack have this same style drink cup, but in different colors. I think these days MGA would have varied the cup shape more, but it is still cute nonetheless. You'll note, however, that Merbaby has the exciting inclusion of SUSHI!!! Why? Well, she is a mermaid, and therefore doesn't require shoes. Although her bare feet do show from underneath the tail. But if they didn't, there is no way Merbaby could stand up. Instead of killing the mermaid theme with shoes, MGA provided kids with a little Sushi plate. That way, Merbaby didn't get packaged with less accessories than the other Series 1 dolls. It's my favorite piece that came with my Ultimate Collection ladies. Although I do have to ask, isn't it a tad barbaric that a mermaid would be eating raw fish?!!!

BODY TYPE: No date
HEAD MOLD: 2016 "Swag"; open mouth; ear slots
SPECIAL FEATURES: Cries
IMPORTANT NOTES: This doll was released multiple times over the years (see "Releases" section above). The original 2016 Series 1 dolls have smaller pupils and a color change feature (compared to this doll's larger pupils and lack of color change feature). There are two versions of the Ultimate Collection--one with Diva on the package and one with Merbaby. This doll was part of the Merbaby pack.
PERSONAL FUN FACT: Ah Merbaby! In the short time I had started collecting L.O.L.s in 2020, she became one of those "grail" dolls. I've always had a certain fascination for mermaid dolls. It's odd though, because I rarely if ever played with my mermaid dolls as, well mermaids. For instance, my Princess Mermaid Ariel was just your ordinary (albeit cooky) neighbor, mother, sister, etc. Likewise, while I desperately fancied Mermaid Fun Kelly as a kid, I never used her mermaid costume/accessories when I played with her. I suppose I just love the look and fanciful theme of mermaids. Merbaby was one of the easiest characters to learn first out of the hundreds of L.O.L.s produced. Even though there are other mermaid themed dolls, she was from the first series AND was featured on the packaging of one of the balls. I always wondered if the Merbaby Series 1 packaging was the "Wave 2" release. But it seems as though there was no true separation between the Diva and Merbaby balls. Rather, you could get some characters in both styles of packaging, and others in just one. With later collections, this wasn't the case--there was a clear cut "Wave 1" and "Wave 2" style packages. Anyways, I was delighted to see that MGA re-released all the Series 1 L.O.L.s in huge Ultimate Collection packs. I had no idea this was a thing until I stumbled upon them at Target, on the way to an eye exam. The cool thing is that there is a "Diva" pack and a "Merbaby" pack--each comes with twelve dolls. Just as the original Series 1 balls featured Diva or Merbaby, the Ultimate Collection sets did too! Immediately I wanted the Merbaby pack, before I even assessed which other dolls were included. I knew Merbaby would be part of it, and she was probably my most wanted Series 1 doll at the time. It worked out perfectly because all my duplicated dollies were in the "Diva" pack! Luckily for me, this set was not difficult to get on sale--I got it for 25% off not long after I first spotted it at Target. Merbaby did not disappoint. She's just as adorable as I imagined she would be! Her lilac braided hair and seafoam green eyes melt my heart even more in person than they did in photos!
Got her pretty late today right before the stores where closing since i had to get some stuff for my mom hehehe... But omg! Only Fierce Fitness Yasmin and i'll have all the 2015 Bratz dolls avalible in the Netherlands! ( well, except for the playset dolls i don't really need those :p )

#1 - 2013 has been a rather peaceful year for me,other than some small dramas in between.

#2- I'm really thankful that I managed to make more new friends as well as maintaining my relationship with the old gang :3 !
#3 - 8D this could be something called grail i wonder! AFTER SO MANY ROUNDS OF RERELEASES *whether it is a FCE or so on* I FINALLY GOT MYSELF A HYPERON!!!!(*___*) and it's a dream version!!!! I didn't expect that Soom would come out with what I've imagined....A SCAR VERSION←scar fetish
#4- I actually started on some props making for myself,as well as a few close buddies ^_^;;... Has never expected myself to be doing so actually.I've been a lazy bump all the way and this is the first year ,I've actually started using my own tool box on something else which isn't for me to repair at home nor for my school assignment-___-|| a great new experience 8)
#5 - (i'm running out of things to write...)2013 has managed to turn out as a peaceful year for me somehow because I feel I've reached the maximum enjoyment level of the hobby and i'm calming down right now and moving back to my gamer life....and as usual i don't really have a thing for dolls with tiny eyes, however, the tag rule states : FAVOURITE ...

2 years and ongoing and yet I feel I am and will continue to love him even more.....I'm actually amazed than thankful (sweatdrop)
Screaming, crying, perfect storms
I can make all the tables turn
Rose garden filled with thorns
Keep you second guessing, like
“Oh my God, who is she?!”
I get drunk on jealousy
But you’ll come back each time you leave
‘Cause darling I’m a nightmare dressed like a daydream
+++++
…..YES, I’ve technically done Blank-Space-inspired before with a “dead” doll. But 1989 got rereleased, and Blank Space is basically one of my favorite songs ever, and I feel like monster-ish or vaguely ominous dolls just own it. So I did it again anyway!
*melodramatic mic drop*
:D
P.S. I still adore my “Dead in Her Tracks” Dani. Don’t let this be misinterpreted as another creepy doll filling her misanthropic Dani-shaped void in my heart.
P.P.S. Estella did get new, long, black curly wig.😍
I had passed on both these dolls the first time around but decided to get them on rerelease. Glad I did.
