The chapel of Queen Mary's heart near Transylvania's Bran Castle.
Little known, but invaluable in beauty, is the Church of the Heart of Queen Mary of Bran
hides an extremely beautiful story about Queen Mary.
A faithful replica of the Stella Maris church from the town of Walsik, which was granted by Romania after World War II in Bulgaria, was built in Byzantine style at the request of Princess Eleana in memory of her mother, Queen.
History says that one of Queen Mary's greatest pleasures was spending time in Balchik's chapel and her wish was to bury her heart there after she died. Because this was no longer possible, the princess demanded the construction of a chapel very close to Bran Castle. The box containing the queen's heart was temporarily deposited in the wooden church of Bran Castle and after a year was transferred to a crypt dug into the rock of Bran Maggiore, awaiting the completion of the church.
In 1947, however, it was the abolition of the monarchy in Romania by the communist regime, so although the chapel was completed in time, it was no longer sanctified and Queen Maria's heart remained hidden in the rock for 27 years! It was not until 1968 that the director of the Bran Museum, together with others, opened the crypt and the sarcophagus and found the golden box containing the queen's heart. Inside the gold box was another silver box wrapped in English and Romanian flags, as well as platinum and gemstones. Since then, Queen Maria's heart is in the National Museum of Romanian History

Η ιστορία λέει ότι μία από τις μεγαλύτερες απολαύσεις της Βασίλισσας Μαρίας ήταν να περάσει ο χρόνος στο παρεκκλήσι του Bάλτσικ και η επιθυμία της ήταν να θάψει την καρδιά της εκεί μετά που πέθανε. Επειδή αυτό δεν ήταν πλέον δυνατό, η πριγκίπισσα απαίτησε την κατασκευή ενός παρεκκλησίου πολύ κοντά στο Κάστρο του Μπράν. Το κουτί που περιείχε την καρδιά της βασίλισσας ήταν προσωρινά κατατεθειμένο στην ξύλινη εκκλησία του Κάστρου Bran και μετά από ένα χρόνο μεταφέρθηκε σε μια κρύπτη που έσκαψε στο βράχο του Bran Maggiore, περιμένοντας την ολοκλήρωση της εκκλησίας.
Το 1947, ωστόσο, αποτελούσε την κατάργηση της μοναρχίας στη Ρουμανία από το κομμουνιστικό καθεστώς, οπότε αν και το παρεκκλήσι ολοκληρώθηκε εγκαίρως, δεν ήταν πλέον αγιασμένο και η καρδιά της Βασίλισσας Μαρίας παρέμεινε κρυμμένη στο βράχο για 27 χρόνια! Μόνο το 1968 ο διευθυντής του Μουσείου Μπραν μαζί με άλλους άνοιξαν την κρύπτη και τη σαρκοφάγο και βρήκαν το χρυσό κουτί που περιείχε την καρδιά της βασίλισσας. Στο εσωτερικό του χρυσού κιβωτίου υπήρχε ένα άλλο κιβώτιο από ασήμι τυλιγμένο σε σημαίες της Αγγλίας και της Ρουμανίας, καθώς πλατίνα και πολύτιμοι λίθοι. Έκτοτε, η καρδιά της Βασίλισσας Μαρίας βρίσκεται στο Μουσείο Εθνικής Ιστορίας της Ρουμανίας.

Grandpops Woodlice, also known as Philip Male, wrote that he would prefer to see one yellow bead. (See his comments on the previous macro, if curious.) I'm not certain if that meant one yellow bead without the tiny 18mm glass container or cork top. Perhaps he is quite a minimalist, although perhaps not. That is a large bear he posted today.
Fiddled with this a tad in an old version of Photoshop.

Apologies for the absence on here... I have just had a manic few weeks with work and family life and photography trips and something just had to give... This is the first in a series of Puffin shots from a trip to the Isle of May... I never feel I have much time there so this time I decided on just going to two locations on the Island and working each one for an hour... mainly shooting the Puffins! I tried for ages to get the perfect landings shot... one on its own landing but I never quite got what I wanted of a single backlit bird landing... but other shots like this more than make up for it! The 2.5hrs on the island passed as it always does in a flash!

The comfort that Anthony got from fussing Lucy was clear (even if he did get covered in hairs) and Lucy's smile says it all.
The Confidential ~ Man In A Room
One of the requests I get from time to time is to make a triptych of house numbers I have found on my many urban walks. They are usually a combo of numbers to celebrate a special date like a wedding. Initially, I thought it would be easy to make a portfolio of numbers because I only needed to go up to 31. The triptych for today would read 26 3 22. However, once I began paying attention to house numbers, I realized there were very few house/building numbers under 100! Charlottetown, PEI still has several homes in their downtown core with the low house numbers and their numbers often have that Maritime charisma. Then there is the old city of Quebec that has several house numbers with 1/2. I posted this one for the theme “Numbers” to make you Smile on Saturday!
By request. They dress the kids up in the mutton busting event like bull riders with helmets and vests now so I pulled this one out of the archives. A ewe jumped over me once in the arena while I was bent down taking pictures so I can attest to their capabilities. Didn't realize I would become the subject of a crowd roaring with laughter that day. The announcer stills brings it up to this day. It has been raining steady today, I hope it moves towards Nova Scotia and New Brunswick where the wildfires are. Canon 40D
On Wednesday evenings I often get together with a friend with the intention of learning to sing and play guitars together.
He's on holiday this week and I'm not envious at all ... not one single bit .... well maybe just a little bit.
Well anyway, Tony, if you're reading this, which you almost certainly won't be because you're probably eating donuts and having way too much fun, but if by chance you are then practise, practise, PRACTISE !!!

I'm still not getting out to get new pictures so created this picture in MidJourney for Bench Monday... It did a pretty good job on what I requested... Happy Bench Monday, Everybody!!
Yesterday I had a day on the Somerset Coast with Louis Goldman, on the way, we stopped off at Cheddar Gorge for a quick visit.
It's such a stunning view up here, my previous visit was marred by low cloud and fog so I didn't really get a great shot. This time though, we had some decent cloud and after a short while, we managed to get some lovely side light on the gorge.
I still want to get up here for sunset one evening, but I think I'll have to wait until later in the year as the sun is setting too far to the south at the moment.

This guy has been hanging around and he seems like a bit of an outcast as he is often alone and doesn't really have a mob to call his own.
He has let me get close to him to take photos even though I don't want to get too close just in case he decides he doesn't want to be friends.
Anyway the other day he did deiced to take back my friend request and as I went to take a photo he came at me.
I basically shit myself and ran back into the safety of the cat yard. I can take a hint.

These were taken on an afternoon walk when the ambient temperature, the humidity and the appearance of the always magical winter sun created a wonderful blue ice fog, a relatively rare occurrence that is very difficult to capture with a camera. Although these photos are no substitute for actually being there and experiencing this phenomenon ... at least they satisfy the request to see more of Tess and Nina. Cheers!

These earrings were requested Aubrianna Kingsley, and they were too adorable for me to turn down.
The earrings should be available tomorrow, the gems will be color change through a menu, copy friendly and 100% hand sculpted, just the way you all deserve it <3

Alfred was one of the most popular men in town. The best stone mason had to work even on Sunday to finish everything on time. Orders were coming from everywhere - the king himself wanted an oversized bust. There was a request even from a land across the sea - a dragon statue. The most interesting job though was from a guy who said he saw his unborn son in a dream. According to the guy, his son's statue would turn to a live boy. He gave Alfred a detailed sketch and asked him to finish the job as soon as possible. The stone mason was baffled, but part of him was really intrigued, because of something he saw in the man's eyes. So Alfred spent almost all of his time working on that statue, leaving on a side all of his other projects. Now he was waiting for the guy...and for that miracle too.
