I know it's not a real word - I made it up :) It was a bit chilly and drizzly out on Thursday. It had been raining much harder and my coat was soaked, but I wanted to go to the beach. The woman in the photo had stopped to talk to me, and I waited until she was at the end of the pier to shoot this.
Zoom in and take a look around. Portrait mode in Flickr doesn't work that well, unless you can get closer.

I was just reminded of our visit to the fabulous Azores islands which I can't believe has been four years ago. We spent our Birthday there in December 2012 and discovered an amazing story of volcanic activity, craters and calderas and a mighty eruption that took place between 1957 and 1958 at this spot: Capelo, where the Capelinhos volcano erupted during a considerable time. To see what's left of it is quite impressive.
From Wikipedia: "A volcanic eruption lasted for 13 months, from September 27, 1957 until October 24, 1958, which may have been two overlapping volcanic eruptions. While enlarging the land by 2.4 km², it spawned 300 seismic events, hurled ash 1 km, destroyed 300 houses in the parishes of Capelo and Praia do Norte and caused the evacuation of 2,000 people (emigration to the US and Canada). On October 25, the volcano entered a period of dormancy. It is a part of an active fissural volcanic complex which creates multiple seismic and volcanic events."
Happy Textural Tuesday!

... a Japanese wallpaper I seen in a gorgeous restaurant. The photo itself is not great by any means but I saved it because of a rare bird I rarely see Eastern Phobee and to me it is so very pretty sitting on blossom tree. Happy Day to all and enjoy always.
(These are fast and it was hopping all over the place. Had old bad lens and was hard to capture it. I know excuses ....)
It snowed this morning, so I decided to post a photo of Ottawa in the summer, to remind me that better weather is coming.
Britannia Conservation Area is an isolated island of “greenspace”, located within city limits. It can offer incredible bird-watching during migration. Located at a constriction of the Ottawa River (the Deschênes Rapids), it is an obvious landmark with a great diversity of habitats. The pond (Mud Lake), the mature white pine stand and deciduous woods, and the surrounding urban landscape, all combine to make this a magnet for tired migrants. To date, 248 species of birds have been found in, or seen from, the BCA, representing 74% of all species recorded in the Ottawa-Hull naturalists’ area (the 50 kilometer radius from the Peace Tower). Additionally, 52 species are known to have nested here over the years. For a single site less than one square kilometer in area, the BCA has hosted a truly remarkable number and diversity of birds! Running along the entry road is a small stream that terminates in this little pond right next to the road. It is a quiet haven for a surprising number of ducks, warblers, chickadees and more. I saw my first Green Heron here, so it's always had a special place in my birder heart.

There are people who live alone
like the forgotten twig of wheat
the world around is an empty plain
and they, alone in the darkness
like the forgotten twig of wheat
lonely people
There are people who live alone
like the rocks of the sea
the world is an endless ocean
and they, mute, stooped and alone
windswept rocks

"We are, two wild and crazy guys!" Reminds me of the Festrunk Brothers on Saturday Night Live. The guys were acting like they were at a singles bar on Lady’s night. “Hey Sweetie, check out this plumage!!
It reminds us that we were blessed to have enjoyed a perfect day, and it provides hope that tomorrow will be even better. It was a reminder of the promised future.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. - Jeremiah 29:11
Many thanks to all those who view, fav or comment my pictures. It is much appreciated.
He reminds me of a tiny cartoon character...
ID? I don't think he's a skipper but I'm not sure.
Update: Thank you for your ID help... he seems to be either a Fiery Skipper (Hylephila phyleus), or a Taxiles Skipper Butterfly. I'll be sure to ask him next time he visits.
A tree reminds us that to grow up,
towards the spiritual, the abstract,
it is necessary to be well rooted in the earth,
in the concrete, in the matter.
It is like the human being, a being that unites heaven and earth.
He is the bearer of the finished fruit, and at the same time,
it is in the process of development.
We, as human beings,
we are the maximum expression of creation and at the same time
we are still in the process of growth.
Friedrich Nietzsche

The large pilgrimage church built between 1858 and 1864 was elevated to the status of papal basilica in 1923. The patronage of the "Assumption of Mary into Heaven" is intended to remind us what the goal of earthly pilgrimage is.
In 1991, a restoration was completed with the interior painting based on Sainte-Chapelle in Paris and one of the most colorful church interiors in the Rhineland was restored.
St Andrews harbour is home to a fleet of around a dozen small fishing vessels, landing high quality shellfish from around the nearby shores, which are sold locally, nationally and exported. A small, but growing, number of pleasure craft are also based within the sheltered waters of the Inner basin. Quoted from the St Andrews Harbour Trust website.
Reminds me of 1930s movies. I keep expecting Sam Spade to come walking out of that office at the end of the hall, a scowl on his face. San Francisco city hall.
this reminds me of a ray bradbury short story about a renowned character actor who so immersed himself in his roles that he eventually lost himself forever. no soul, no face.
i think there are a lot of women out there, men too, who wear so many hats, they get lost in the shuffle. if you are working, you only have so much time....so STOP apologizing for not commenting when your house is filling with water and the electrics are down!
i am not working right now, which is why i have time to comment and visit so many. and i run out of time every day! not to mention the chaos of my glass piling up!

If there is one song to remind us in all this craziness that life is wonderful and this world is gorgeous, it is this one. Satchmo has such an amazing voice, warm and smoothing. And his smile just makes you brighten up. Of course, I wouldn't be me if I wouldn't include a version that was more my youth. Of all people, Joey Ramone covered this amazing song. And I admit, it works too 😉

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands, saying how do you do
They're only saying I love you
I see babies crying, I watch them grow
They'll learn so much more than I'll ever know
Then I think to myself what a wonderful world
The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands, saying how do you do
They're only saying I love you
I see babies crying, I watch them grow
They'll learn so much more than I'll ever know
Then I think to myself what a wonderful world
