This is installment number 2 of the Billy Joel collection. It's amazing how Billy captured every day scenarios that anyone can relate to.

This song is dedicated to everyone that is being told what is best for them or that they are doing something wrong.

It's important to have strong convictions and stay true to yourself. While it's great to receive advice from others, ultimately it's up to you to make your own decisions in order to achieve true happiness. Failure to do so can lead to feelings of regret, which can be a burden to bear on your own. It's crucial to follow your dreams and pursue your passions in life, as this is the surest way to live a fulfilling and satisfying life.

Lyrics

Got a call from an old friend we used to be real close

Said he couldn't go on the American way

Closed the shop, sold a house, bought a ticket to the west coast

Now he gives them a stand-up routine in L.A.

I don't need you to worry for me 'cause I'm alright

I don't want you to tell me it's time to come home

I don't care what you say anymore this is my life

Go ahead with your own life leave me alone

I never said you had to offer me a second chance

(I never said you had to)

I never said I was a victim of circumstance

(I never said)

I still belong (still belong)

Don't get me wrong (don't get me wrong)

You can speak your mind but not on my time

They will tell you you can't sleep alone in a strange place

Then they'll tell you you can't sleep with somebody else

Oh, but sooner or later you sleep in your own space

Either way it's okay, you wake up with yourself

I don't need you to worry for me 'cause I'm alright

I don't want you to tell me it's time to come home

I don't care what you say anymore this is my life

Go ahead with your own life leave me alone

I never said you had to offer me a second chance

(I never said you had to)

I never said I was a victim of circumstance

(Gf circumstance)

I still belong (still belong)

Don't get me wrong (don't get me wrong)

You can speak your mind but not on my time

I don't care what you say anymore this is my life

Go ahead with your own life leave me alone

Wikipedia: The raccoon (Procyon lotor), sometimes called the common raccoon to distinguish it from other species, is a mammal native to North America. It is the largest of the procyonid family, having a body length of 40 to 70 cm (16 to 28 in), and a body weight of 5 to 26 kg (11 to 57 lb). Its grayish coat mostly consists of dense underfur, which insulates it against cold weather. Three of the raccoon's most distinctive features are its extremely dexterous front paws, its facial mask, and its ringed tail, which are themes in the mythologies of the indigenous peoples of the Americas relating to the animal. The raccoon is noted for its intelligence, as studies show that it is able to remember the solution to tasks for at least three years. It is usually nocturnal and omnivorous, eating about 40% invertebrates, 33% plants, and 27% vertebrates.

Conservation status: Least Concern

Ambience and ambiance are different spellings of the same word, referring to the special atmosphere or mood of a particular environment. While some dictionaries list ambiance as the standard spelling, ambience is far more common in all main 21st-century varieties of English. It’s worth noting, though, that ambiance tends to take precedence in contexts relating to art and design, but this is by no means a rule, and exceptions abound.

This open-air museum spans the Torre peninsula, Punta Herminia, O Acoroado and Cabal de Pradeira, over 47 ha, that is, occupying part of the limits of the area around the Tower (core zone). The sculptures are distributed in the green space that surrounds the Tower, in a very suggestive game of perspectives and in permanent dialogue with the monument itself. The theme chosen by the artists can be arranged around several thematic tracks:

The mythological stories that link the foundation of the Tower with Hercules himself or with the Celtic leader Breogán, whom 19th century historiography relates to the origin of the monument itself.

References to the world of the sea, navigation and routes, which tell us about that seafaring vocation that appears intrinsically linked to the past of the Galician people since the beginning of its history.

In this sculptural space, a series of pre-existing elements have been integrated, which are explained within their historical context by means of informative panels that spread the value they have within this place. Among them we can highlight: Monte dos Bicos, the Moro Cemetery and the beacons that help navigation. (Source: www.torredeherculesacoruna.com)

I've always wondered about the meaning of this song... or whether it's just a collection of beautiful words and great musical timing?

Though I like to relate it's the thousands of thoughts that float across the mind!

The National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh, Scotland, was formed in 2006 with the merger of the new Museum of Scotland, with collections relating to Scottish antiquities, culture and history, and the adjacent Royal Museum (so renamed in 1995), with collections covering science and technology, natural history, and world cultures. The two connected buildings stand beside each other on Chambers Street, by the intersection with the George IV Bridge, in central Edinburgh. The museum is part of National Museums Scotland. Admission is free.

HFF and have a great weekend!

I am always losing my reading glasses so I can relate to someone leaving this pair behind.

An early morning capture of the old Birchfield Garage/filling station in Much Wenlock, Shropshire, taken during a recent visit to the area.

The history of this site appears a bit sketchy; the middle pump has prices in Pence, which dates it post decimalisation of 1971. I’ve not found any reference as to when this forecourt ceased dispensing fuel and was left to the elements, perhaps it may have fallen into disuse once the requirement to dispense fuel in Litres was mandated in 1995; the pumps are all in imperial gallons.

I saw a post recently somewhere from someone purporting to be the owner, who stated that the garage to the side of the pumps is still in use and therefore asks that posts relating to the site not be tagged as abandoned.

I cannot live fast enough!

For a swirl of rushing air

Catches the red leaves from my feet

And scatters them everywhere.

I cannot live fast enough!

Look! those trees were green and now are bare

And over the cold horizon hills

The winter sun-fires glare.

I have not lived fast enough!

I must hurry, must run, must dare,

There is time yet for a red leaf

To tangle itself in my hair!

Theme : Red on White Background ».

The commonly accepted symbolism of these colors is that red is the "liturgical color that evokes blood or fire" and "white evokes purity, but even more so divine glory and the brilliance of everything that relates to God. It is the color of the resurrection."

This piece of national architecture of 19th Century relates to south of Polavshchyna and that as of nowadays has disappeared. It was built in 70th of 19th Century.

The house from Revasivka village has never been reconstructed since it had been built. Its window frames were re-made in the mid-50th of 20th Century. The walls are decorated with clay of different color; inside there is a carved cupboard, painted trunk and national pictures in interior.

The house from Revazivka village was discovered in 1976 by an architect Lukianchuk V.D. and restored in the Museum in 1977-1978.

Few words about Revazivka village, as it were never mentioned in modern sources. In the middle of 19th Century, this village was called Novakivka and belonged to Ploshchanska volost of Poltava povit in Poltava hubernia.

It was a village of a proprietor, with 179 souls in 18 yards. Officially, Revazivka is called sloboda. There were 219 inhabitants in 44 homesteads.

Nowadays, the village of Revazivka has joined to Grekopavlivka village. It now relates to Stovbynska village council in Novosanzharskyi district of Poltavska Region.

The house is of two rooms (a home, a mudroom), of combined structure. A two-room house could be met only in poor villages belonging to proprietors. A three-room house was more traditional for Poltava area.

The house is built on piles. Above the windows, piles are covered with shingles. A longitudinal ceiling beam and upper parts of piles have tips on sidewall adjacent to the stove, so forming reasonable overlap of the roof. A lumber lay on tips to support auxiliary beams of the roof. Ceiling comprises ceiling beam and slyzhni. The slyzhni are surfaced by caber, and then covered with clay.

The four-slope roof of the house is low, supported by rafters and covered with cane sheaves, as there were a lot of cane in the waterlog river valley near Revazivka.

Combines, log and framework structure of a national dwelling on south Poltavshchyna was typical of this region, poor in building wood.

Especially interesting was filling of this house’s framework walls: there were twiggen with mullein. This grass grew high near Revazivka, and had strong stems. The local say: “Even shipworms never eat mullein”.

This is a house of two rooms (a home and a mudroom) with framework and log walls. Under the windows, walls are framework: horizontal hlytsi are nailed to vertical piles, with osier between them. Above the windows, planks of three parts are fixed to piles. A longitudinal ceiling beam is fixed thereto and two transverse ones (one in the home, another – in the mudroom). The longitudinal beam and tops of planks have overlaps on sidewall, adjacent to the stove, so forming reasonable overlap of the roof. Inside and outside, the house is clayed and whitewashed, except for back wall, only clayed. The house stays now on concrete basement.

Area – 53.92 square meters (5.15 x 10.47).

The house relates to the middle 19th Century; its last owner was Kuryk Mykola Vasylovych. The house comprises of three parts – a house, a mudroom and a small house. Its external walls aren’t covered, only strips are painted around its windows and doors. Such strips are specific for houses from Vyzhytskyj and Putylivskyj districts of Chernivtsi Region. Art painting and strips are very distinct decorations for houses of lowland Bukovyna. The house’s joyful interior is created by grapes depicted on the stove, around windows and on pokut (the sacred place of a traditional home). The most widespread patterns in Korytne village are grapes, arrow-wood leaves, hops and crosses on bases.

The house is built of smereka and poplar wood, its area equals to 58.8 square meters.

Still in my garden.

Scam or mistake - you decide! This relates to copyright accusation (libellous) on my original photo 'G'Day' of this same flower on my photostream where someone is trying to claim it as theirs.

This photograph here is also of the same flower, taken as the EXIF data shows - exactly 2 and a half minutes after the first, but from a slightly different angle.

Did the person alleging copyright breach take this one also? If they think someone with a 90% sight loss is an easy touch - that would be a mistake.

I have also added on my photostream a photo of the same flower *G'Day 2* taken just now after the accusation with the same yellow dogwood and rose leaves. In this one the dahlia is looking tired.

You can see the original accusation and my responses on my original photo here.

The hermitage of San Bartolomé (Saint Bartholomew) is a temple in the Spanish province of Soria. It is located inside the natural park of the Cañón del Río Lobos, province of Soria, Spain.

It was built in the first quarter of the 13th century, when the Romanesque style gave way to the Gothic, a transition that was reflected in that architectural work.

It was part of a monastery of which only the chapel remains.

It has a plan in the shape of a Latin cross, with three chapels. The two rose windows deserve to be highlighted, one on each gable end of the transept, oriented to the southeast and northwest, whose lattices evoke Muslim influences in the form of the interlacing that makes up a lobed five-pointed star. They have three archivolts of which only the external one is decorated.

Some authors relate its existence to the possibility that for a time it belonged to the Order of the Templars, although there is no documentation that can be verified.

It is possible that it is confused with the Hermitage of San Juan de Otero, of which only the foundations and little else remain.

Although the dedication of the hermitage to Saint Bartholomew, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus who, according to the tradition of the Armenian church, was crucified upside down, skinned alive and beheaded, could be related to the Knights Templar who worshiped various saints who died after being beheaded. Let's not forget the supposed Templar's cult of Baphomet. (Source: Wikipedia)

(Fuente: Wikipedia)

Sunday morning in Victorville California just a couple of minutes before 7 AM. I had parked on the street the night before and was about to check in for my pickup when I looked out my passenger window and saw this ground squirrel basking in the morning light. Grabbed my A9 which has the long zoom lens already on and took a hand full of pictures. Some pictures had the little creature with it's eyes open, some half open, but this one really captured the mood best, eyes closed, relaxed and obviously enjoying the morning's sun and warmth. I think we can all relate to this kind of peaceful moment in our own lives. We all have basked in the morning light and the feeling is universally the same I believe for all creatures.

Haven't had many photo opportunities lately, but started my day with this and stopped several times throughout the day getting some pretty interesting landscape shots and ended the days photography with some Ram shots at Walker Lake in Nevada. I'll say more about that when I post one of those, but for now just know how excited I was. I've looked for Bighorn Sheep here for years because of the signs posted in the area warning about them frequently crossing the road. Dang, enough about the Bighorn for now. Will post sometime soon.

"Chains"

With her wine-stained lips, yeah, she nothing but trouble

Cold to the touch but she's warm as a devil

I gave her my heart but she wanted my soul

She takes 'til I break and I can't get more

You got me in chains, you got me in chains for your love

But I wouldn't change, no, I wouldn't change this love

You got me in chains, you got me in chains for your love

But I wouldn't change, no, I wouldn't change this love

Tryna break the chains but the chains only break me

(Hey-ey-ey-ey, hey-ey-ey-ey, hey-ey-ey-ey, hey-ey-ey-ey)

Tryna break the chains but the chains only break me

Alone in the night 'til she knocks on my door

Oh no, wasted again but I can't say no (no)

Baby tell me why, why you do, do me wrong

Baby tell me why, why you do, do me wrong

Gave you my heart but you took my soul

You got me in chains, you got me in chains for your love

But I wouldn't change, no, I wouldn't change this love

You got me in chains, you got me in chains for your love

But I wouldn't change, no, I wouldn't change this love

I am adding this a little late into the posting but time was taken from me unexpectedly earlier… I wished to relate what spoke to me when I came across these beauties. When I walked upon the scene I saw the flowers first ..then the chains that held them all together. The correlation for me was the beauty in the softness of the petals the flourishing while being held close by the strength of the chains. No restrictions but more like loving boundaries, shelter, guidelines yet freedom to grow to express….someone loving you enough to say .. This is where I need you .. I wish you close. They also, spoke to me of a deep relationship, a trust that some can never understand, a bond that transcends. Smiles … that is just me.. The beauty is in the eye of the beholder ..we all know that!!!

The beginnings of the Polish State relate to the history of Poznan, especially to Ostrów Tumski - an island on the Warta River which is part of the modern Poznan. The photo shows the interior of this first Polish cathedral. It is probably here that Prince Mieszko I was the first to be baptized and inscribed Poland on the pages of Roman Catholic church history. The marble of the cathedral floor is engraved with the names of the Polish kings for whom Poznan was home and Poznan Cathedral a place of eternal rest.

This year, the FFF+ monthly challenge of FOTF has changed from 'five images on the fifth' to 'freestyle on the fifth', where each month a member of the group chooses a theme and the image can be a single image, a collage or anything you like as long as it relates to the theme and is uploaded on the fifth of each month.

This month the theme of 'reflection' was chosen by Jenni.

I had several ideas in mind for this wonderful theme but after spending almost the entire month struck down with the flu and still recovering, time and the will to do anything, was not on my side.

I actually wasn't going to post anything at all for this months theme as I didn't feel it was creative enough but the lovely Margaret convinced me to, so thank you so much my dear friend.

The Embassy of Ecuador, London. Famous for being where Julian Assange made speeches from whilst holed up in there for seven years until they tired of him (especially after Wikileaks published some scandals relating to Ecuador) and allowed the police in to get him.

The Pacific golden plover (Pluvialis fulva) is a medium-sized plover. The genus name is Latin and means relating to rain, from pluvia, "rain". It was believed that golden plovers flocked when rain was imminent.

the exit sign also relates to life and i cant help but to include this great song with words that relate to anyone, any religion, everyone, every religion. and if it doesn't, it should.

i think its from the Adi Granth where Baba Farids poems were included. that is what i love about Sikhism, it is written by many saints from several religions. so much for one dominant religion over others! the Sikhs honor all religions that relate to God.

Trying to relate this quote (Prime Minister Boris Johnson on 7/7/22) to the prediction that up to 10 million UK citizens will be pushed into poverty over the coming winter. The position is a quite uncomfortable one. Fuji X-Pro1.

In the distance a modern cargo ship decidedly not the Pinta, which together with the Niña and the Santa Maria formed the fleet of Christopher Columbus (1451-1506) on his first voyage to the 'New' World. In 1492, shortly after setting out from Cádiz, the Pinta developed rudder problems which could only be repaired in a harbor. Columbus thus landed his tiny fleet of caravels at Las Palmas. Soon repairs were made and after loading supplies they were on their way to the 'new' continent. It is said that the house in which Columbus resided in Las Palmas was later incorporated into the Governor's palace (see inset) which is now a museum devoted to him and his voyages of discovery. It's located right next to the Cathedral, which was built around 1500 so Columbus wouldn't have seen it.

Building of the Cathedral began in earnest after the defeat of the enemies of Spain who attempted to take Gran Canaria. Famous in those attempts was Dutch admiral Pieter van der Does (1462-1599) whose men took Las Palmas for a few days in July 1499 but were then driven away. Van der Does died of his wounds on the coast of Africa. It was humorous this morning in the botanical garden here to hear a teacher enthusiastically relating that history to his wards. When he announced Van der Does's defeat an applaus and 'olés' rang out.

The view is of the cupola of Santa Ana from one of its towers.
