Reflect/Reflect, Central Piedmont Community College, Charlotte, NC.
Carved Indiana limestone, fieldstone, water, earthworks, plants. 2004.
"Reflect/Reflect" refers to dual meanings of the word. In an optical sense, the piece is made complete by the reflection in the water of the carved face and fieldstone wall. The work creates a space for personal reflection, with intimate seating for small group discussions or solitary studying. Site work included construction of a wall based on local building materials and traditions.
Reflecting is not a mirror. Therefore what another individual is doing, or how they are expressing, or the choices they are engaging, or the behavior that they express is reflecting some element to you, but it may not be what you are doing. This is the reason that reflecting at times can be confusing. For individuals automatically think that if they are presenting some disturbing manifestation through another individual that they must in some manner be doing some very similar action themselves, inwardly. Which is not always the situation. At times it may be a type of reflection to offer you more information in relation to how you respond, or how you are participating. It may be a reflection to emphasize what you yourself are not doing, or what you are doing in a different manner. And in this it allows you to become more aware.

A reflection of Bridgewater Place, the current tallest building in Leeds (West Yorkshire, United Kingdom).
Taken as part of the Leeds flickr group meetup, pre-meetup-photo-challenge - we were given a list of things to try to take photos of, of which one was a building reflected in another building.
Submitted to the "Guess Where Leeds" group - that it's Bridgewater Place is pretty obvious, the question is, which building is it being reflected in?

Design Inspiration for The Great Explorer
This happy penguin embodies the determined spirit of adventure and celebrates the dedication of peaceful exploration in the great Southern Continent. ‘The Great Explorer’ is guided by the stars of the night sky, has a compass fixed towards the South Pole and Antarctica at the centre of the map. Take a closer look and you might catch a glimpse of the Ellsworth mountain range in Antarctica reflected in those goggles!

Story behind the box: I really love these mini suitcases since they clearly reflect the design concept I'm going for. And I think they look chic. These were given to a few of my favorite women who appreciate simple yet chic things. ;o) All of them received this before I finished getting my packaging ideas as beautiful as they could be, so I appreciate them not opening up the boxes in absolute disgust. :o)
