First off I want say thank you everyone for making this a really good year for me in the community I have become such a better builder this year and all thanks to the people tagged they all give me feedback to help me become a better builder I’m hopeful that next year we will see even more great builds but time will tell happy holidays and happy new year to all of you
Sincerely Schuyler
BFVA was so much fun this year. Shout out to the St. Meme crew, Thug Lug and apoc boys for letting me chill with you. I scored some nice loot and took a bunch of pics to be uploaded soon. Word to Zach for co-creating this dope theme.

It was a good year.
I am very pleased with what we have managed to build over the past year. A lot of funny things, several models with instructions, a collaboration with a friend for Summer Joust, and I even managed to win a prize at VignWeek!
There are even several models on the collage that I didn't post here, for example, an alternative bird model for the 31173 set.
Next year will be better!
Some time ago I pictured this car with narrower lens on Fuji camera.
Wider view, gives more background to where and how this car exists.
I think I prefer the view from 17mm as it shows a house and a lot more bush that is on the plot.
Now you may start to think a story behind the abandoned property and a rusty car on it ;)
Relatively quiet year for MOCs as priorities shifted to other areas of life.

Most likely would have had even fewer if some friends,
Pohutaron and Maxx Davidson, had not organized a creative calender challenge throughout the year that helped me remember to join quite a few fun theme months: Droneuary, Febrovery, Marchitecture, TimeforCrab, Frogust, and Novvember.
-
Of course, over the summer had to do some castle building with John as we hosted the Summer Joust again. Which was super fun and rewarding. Thanks a lot to all of you who participate, or otherwise engage, and make the event what it is.
-
My biggest project of the year was a revamp of the Grand Titan, a contribution to the massive Exo Force collaborative displayed at Skaerbaek Fan Weekend. Everyone clearly had a blast building for it, and the final result was epic for sure!

2026 looks to be another slow year for MOCs, though I'll still get at least a few things finished.

On the product design side, February 2025 marked my 5 year anniversary as a designer at The LEGO Group, which felt pretty crazy. And a bunch of new sets I worked on hit shelves. Including some for themes I had not worked on before: One Piece and Architecture.
I remain incredibly blessed and thankful to work with amazing people doing something I truly enjoy.
Collage of all 26 photos for this year's alphabet challenge. All photos were taken with the same 90mm macro lens.
Thanks again to Ron Brauer for getting this fun group together. I made some more new Flickr friends, both here in North America and across the pond. It is my favorite month of photography and creativity.
To recap, here is my alphabet:

See you all again next year!!
2022 was a pretty quiet year for me, LEGO-wise. That being said, I was still very happy to be able to complete 2 more collabs with Isaac, as well as participate in both the CCC and Brickscalibur. Perhaps the highlight of the year though was being involved with the Symphony of Construction collaboration. Was amazing seeing and hearing what all the other collaborators had created! And my own contribution was certainly one of my most ambitious builds to date (I don't know exactly how much the finished model ended up weighing, but it was pretty difficult to pick up!)
And of course, as always, it was fantastic to help organize the Summer Joust. It might seem like it would get repetitive doing it year after year, but every time I'm amazed by the creativity and quality of the entries!
Despite not building/posting as much this past year, I do still regularly check in to see all the fantastic models you guys are posting. Hard to say if I'll be able to build more in 2023 or not, but hopefully can still get out several throughout the year.
Would love to hear if you had a favorite of my models this year :)
Since I have not added much in 2019, here's a 12 of my favorite shots from the past year. Before starting my job, I made a road trip to Nashville to see a show at the Grand Ole Opry, followed by the Nashville Steam open house display at Union Station. Here, Friday commuters exit the Music City Star on a gloomy afternoon
••On a side note••
Scotch and I arrived in Los Angeles after 10 day 4,000+ mile journey a year ago late on a Christmas Eve and it was around this time on Christmas morning that I was able to start exporting my memory cards and the 8,000 or so photos from the roadtrip onto my computer. Because of the frantic nature of the trip and pretty extreme weather, i didn't really review anything on the drive and I was finally able see all the shots I took on my memorable, amazing trip for the first time. I made my brother sit and watch too rationalizing how after 10 very full days in a car with a dog, he could spare a few minutes of a boring slideshow like recap of the trip. It's really hard to believe it's been a year now in Los Angeles and I'm so thankful to be here now and still have Scotch around. This trip put him over 100,000 miles cumulatively on car rides which seems like a ton to me but for a dog who loved it so much, it was time well spent together. As I've noted quite frequently during my time here, this has been a really challenging year for him as he's aged a lot and has dealt with a lot of health issues. He was done to his last weekend in november when last minute throats surgery gave him a reprieve of shorts. Despite a few infections, he said healing well and I hope 2017 is a really happy year for for him. It's been a wild ride so far. For both of us.
This is another shot from a location I only visited once in 2016 and haven't posted yet. Back when I shot this in April, the majority of my trips were either to Malibu Pier or Venice, with a few visits to a handful of other places scattered in. I didn't know the area too well even after 4 months and when the cloudy winter skies because less frequent and were replaced mainly by hazy cloudless spring days, I didn't want to jeopardize rare good conditions on a place I didn't know at all. Fortunately since (and despite my frequent trips and posts from Venice) I have gotten accustomed to the area and have a much more substantial list of locations to choose from depending on the conditions.
I was focused back on areas around Malibu at this point after a series of lousy days at Venice but with the pier area closed for renovations, I began driving further down the Pacific Coast Highway in search of non crowded/interesting vantages for sunsets. This was around the time I started driving all the way to Point Mugu in Ventura County and along the way, I'd usually detour off the PCH to see if any of the 5 or 6 parking spaces at Point Dume were open. I have yet to find a spot and typically there's a row of idling cars waiting for people to leave. If you pass with Point Dume on the left and hook around towards the ocean before getting back on the highway, you run into Malibu Beach which has a single restaurant and is lined on both sides with free parking. Here, I've never had an issue finding a place to stop and with light starting to fade, I unpacked my car here and wandered a bit down the shoreline towards the mountains.
There was a heavy colorful cloud cover out to sea and with the mountains so close (and extended right out of frame), there were plenty of times where the clouds and rolling fog met and it was pretty amazing to see. It was the first time out here I've seen thick fog by the ocean and it almost didn't look real. The beach wasn't very crowded which was fine because at the time, I was still mostly focused on very long exposures and prefered a completely clean view in front of me. I also was still not real comfortable shooting with anyone watching me. I didn't get here early enough to explore more and I wish I hadn't shot so many long exposures with this view. It would've been nice to get some crisper images of the incoming water but that didn't really happen. Further, this was the only direction that was interesting, since the color faded further to the left and there were no mountains as a backdrop so I took no photos directly out to sea of the horizon which is something I do quite often now.
Sometimes when I shoot long exposures with people in the frame, I try hard to wait out the release of the shutter as long as those subjects are still, releasing it as soon as I sense movement. On quicker shutter shots, I do something similar where I wait until the last possible moment before the surf washes under my low tripod to take the shot. While the sky and sunset turned out to be pretty remarkable, I was more amazed by the motionless couple standing in the middle of the beach for well over a minute--and yes, that is a couple not a single person like I originally thought.
This visit is an example of one of the places I've gone where I wouldn't mind a do-over. I knew about 16 months ago when my obsession with long exposure began that there would be days I'd look back on and regret not taking a more varied approach to my shooting. Further, my understanding of photography is much different now and having seen some conditions here I have yet to find anywhere else, I missed chances at some very memorable shots. Until my shooting gets a bit more on track, I doubt long exposure will dominate a shoot like it used to unless it's specifically a trip for long exposure, like to Hollywood Bowl Overlook. With winter here and lifeguard stations mostly empty, this might be a great spot to bring Scotch at some point for a relaxing night on the beach. The drive isn't quick but it's one he still enjoys and being able to park 5ft from the sand makes it even easier. He's getting closer to being as healthy and active as I can hope for at this point in his life and from his recovery from throat surgery and there's plenty of places I still want to take him to see :)

For my first convention, it was a blast. As for the build, I procrastinated a bunch on the middle building, but overall the diorama pleases me very much.
It was super rad meeting everyone who is tagged below, and we are planning on doing something next year (hint - hint). I helped Elijah put grass on his build for about an hour :D
I got my hands on some nice items by trading and such, and an abundance of memes were passed around. Sprue, mongolian, the free build section, and others in which we do not utter here.
I hope to see some more of you guys next year!!!!!!!!
My MOC card got cut off.
The picture is atrocious.
Anton didn't come :::::::::::::::(((((((((((

What a year!
I was finally able to finish my Venice 1486 diorama and released it on a venue in Belgium. That was an amazing & fun weekend!
In skaerbaek i was able to meet some online friends for the first time and speak with everyone in person. Thx again for the great weekend guys!
I also made some fun tutorials and moved into my new Lego room. Now i have all the space i need and more..
Not the fastest builder out there, but I'm very pleased with the mocs I've made this year.
Last but not least: The Lego community is still the best community in the world and i always enjoy seeing all those amazing mocs people make every year 🙌
I wise you all a safe and peaceful new year and we see each other in 2023!
Greetings Barthezz Brick
Best Brick yet. I would do it day by day but it's mostly a blur. From all the new people I became friends with like Jonah, Rex, Jake, Matt, Peter, Carter, Cody and Jeff to hanging out again with the boys Brandon, Yasser, Rob, Greg, Nathaniel, Caden and Caleb. All the trades and crazy stupid fast food runs to introduce Rex to fine American dining. Not to mention Cody's moding workshop. This year remains unmatched. This year saw the birth of the red rocket bois and many more memes to spam the Flickr (and now Instagram, follow me) comments section. I just want to thank all the new and old friends for an awsome 5 days and I can't wait for next year!

I'd like to say my 2016 was really good, it had its ups and downs but more good things happened rather than bad.
When 2016 started I never thought I would be where I am today and I'd like to say thank you to every single one of my followers for an amazing experience this past year. I've made a lot of friends and have improved a lot.
This year overall I have made around 33 figs, not counting WIPs and they've all turned out amazing! Guess I'll list my top 10 figs.
In no particular order we have, Kat, X-01, Kenny, Impa, Deadpool, Ulssyes, ORAS Trainer, Benny, Toon Link, and James or TheOdd1sOut. If you have a favorite custom of mine let me know in the comments below!
I hope I'll stay for as long as I can, as this community let's me be myself and is just amazing!
So yeah that's pretty much it! I've tagged inspirations and friends! Hope everyone has a Happy New Year and 2017!
Well, another WWB went by. This was the first one that I went to that wasn't in Minneapolis, so a change was nice. I flew out Thursday after school and got there pretty late that night. I'll do like a day by day break down below.
Friday: Woke up at like 4 and 6am cause of the time difference, so I didn't sleep too well. Miciah met me at my room at 8:45 and we got my plates and stuff and headed downstairs. I saw Andrew and met Brahm when we got there, and we soon started setting up Luzon. Went over and talked to Will a bit, but didn't get to see (most of) the stuff that he brought to trade or whatever until later that night/Saturday morning. Brought back some burgers and ate while assembling more of the collab. Sean showed up and I messed with him for a while. By the afternoon Brahm became a part of the collab and helped us out everything together. By the time of the Brickarms presentation, we were probably 90-95% done with Luzon. Ended up leaving around ten since my mom was pissed at me for not answering my phone/texts lmao
Saturday: Tired af when I got up. Met the guys down by the collab and put on the final touches. We ended up changing a good amount of stuff that really helped make the build look and feel much more realistic and logical. Added stuff like the boarder and fixed the positioning of the Americans. This will be explained when the collab pics go up. Logan showed up and a lot of fun chilling with him on and off the rest of the con. We spent a lot it time modding stuff since we had everything finished and ended up having a "workshop" on Sunday. Talked to Will more and got a lot of cool stuff, either from gifts or trades. Saturday went by extremely fast, probably the most out of the 3 days.
Sunday: kinda sad that it was the last day cause I had to leave at like 2 :/ but it was great to see that we got an award. Pretty much spent the morning chillin with the bois by Luzon and talking to the public. By about noon we started breaking stuff down and dividing the sponsorship items up, took a long ass time lmao. After everything got packed up I headed over to talk to Will to say goodbye and stuff, got some final things, then said the goodbyes to the people I could find lol. Sucked to leave at 2.
If you don't want to read:
Con went by very fast
Very fun
Luzon turned out dank
Lando kamikazed my Sherman with a drone
Got some dope stuff
Modded all day
Met some guys for the first time
Spent like 50$
Sean yelled "Nipple Milk" and made me laugh
Jasper likes tea
Andrews Abrams ended up on Luzon
Woulda been better if CB was there, but still a good time

First off, BFVA was absoultely amazing.
I had the awesome opportunity to meet so many Flickr friends and buddies, which is quite a long list:
Of course, the Narva boys: Mj, Grant, Greg, Ccaleb, Nick, and Garett from The Minifig Co.;
the dudes from the Hue City collab: James, Brandon, Tyler, Simon, Spencer
(don't forget to hmu if any of you have CB grunt torsosszz) and Iain, Caden, and Yasser; as well as many of the contributors for Bastogne: Ethan, Eliott, Toby, Greg (the small one), Hunter, Papa Cheet, Sam, Max, Mason, and Robbie;
It was super fun participating in the Narva collab and helping with the Siege if Bastogne.
It was my first time attending BFVA, and God willing it won't be my last
[Disclaimer: It very well could have been, I nearly broke my back in the bounce house XD]
But overall, it was really such a blast as well as a growing experience, learning from so many talented and skilled builders.
I really can't wait for the epicc stuff the future and BFVA 2k18 holds, all I know is that it'll be just that: Epic.
Aight guys, God bless, and hope to see ya there next year!
-Jesse
P.S. Feel fee to tag yourself if I forgot to do so. ;D
Wow.. That flew by, words can't express how great of an experience that was.
I left on weds night, and got into Cali pretty late. The next morning my grandpa and me made a plan to go all over California that day (not to mention I've never been to California before). The first thing we did was go to this really cool bakery called "Helms Bakery" my grandpa really wanted to go there because he has the same last name. After that, we went to Beverly Hills. You would not believe some of the HUGE houses up there. Throughout the whole day, we went through Long Beach, Santa Ana, Santa Monica, LA, and Malibu. Malibu beach was beautiful, it was one of the most incredible things I have ever seen. After Malibu, we went up to The Reagan Presidential Library. The Library was incredible, and I learned a lot about the importance of our 40th President. That was almost the end of our day considering traffic back to the hotel took over 2 1/2 hours. For dinner that night we went to this really good Italian restaurant called Cortinas, we loved it.
Starting the next day, was the first day of the convention, and in my opinion probably the best. The very first thing I did was meet up with Michael at his hotel room and help him carry his part from Luzon to the con. That whole day we set up Luzon, and it turned out to be awesome and we even received an award for (Best Use of Brickarms) That day I met up with Michael, Andrew, Brahm, Logan, Jasper, Henry, and Sean.
Sat-Sun were quite similar, it consisted of Modding, Fixing up minor issues with luzon, Painting and hanging with friends.
Sunday, was quite sad because we had to take apart Luzon and I wouldn't be seeing some of my best friends for quite a long time.
Overall, I really enjoyed California and would like to go back sometime soon. As for WWB, It was great, the only thing that would have made it better was Citizen brick attending. Other than that, It was great to meet up with some of my best friends, Michael and Andrew, and meet some in person for the first time, Logan, Brahm, Jasper, and Henry. It was a great experience and hope to make many more.
A good thing from situation now is that I finally have time to go through my older photo's. I came acros this trully mezmarizing cloud formation in 2015 which I saw from my top floor window. Unfortunately I didn't have the skills ands gear I have now, but I hope you like it as much as I do.
I would say that this year has been pretty good. Posted content that I was happy with, met/talked to a lot of cool people, and spent more time with the boys. (Aforementioned people tagged) Hopefully, next year will bring even more great builds and times. Merry Christmas and Happy New Years everyone.
Are we back here again already?
-The year started with the beginning of a project I’d been meaning to get to for years; alt builds of Speed Champion cars. I even had a super unique name in mind—Space Champions. Turns out, there were two other Space Champion displays at BrickWorld, so, not as innovative as I thought… So far I’ve built four. But they’re my excuse to keep buying Speed Champions, so I’m sure more will come and I dream of building a track of some kind for them.
-The first Space Champion was also an entry to a Eurobrick’s alt-build challenge, where it pulled off a runner-up place.
-I had a total blast with our family collab for this year’s BrickWorld—a series of Wingfeather Saga figures. It was so fun to see my younger sister come into her own as a LEGO builder with this collab, actually designing the heads for these figures and taking on an incredible amount of building. Boy if I could have built that well that fast at her age!
-Speaking of BrickWorld, I brought most of my Iron Builder creations from last year and it was incredible to get nominated for BrickWorld Master.
-Participating in the Rollie Pollie collab with Isaiah to create our Pied Piper MOC was super special and it was awesome to take this way to honor a builder and friend who has inspired us for years.
-The Simon Games (as I will forever call them) felt like a Durand Mafia this year as we cornered the bidding market by pooling resources which, besides the immense score of prizes, was a hysterical amount of fun that I will never forget. Those same frog bucks have continued to see use as we play “the cow game” with frog currency now.
-Sending a build to the LEGO House is of course always a highlight and I am especially proud of my Little Train.
-I had a million brilliant ideas for the Summer Joust but I procrastinated too long on them. I did finish three entries, but only one was part of the original plan, a new microscale castle—Swallow’s Nest Castle. Once again I placed second in the Vignette category, which feels like a high bar for future microscale castles…
-So, all told I built 16 MOCs this year which is so low, especially considering that many of them are simply tiny. However, this second half of the year has been full of MOC planning and even a little building, lots of BIG projects coming soon.
-A couple of standout BrickNerd articles also come to mind as I think about what I did this year; Turning Botanical Sets into Wall Decor was super fun, and Flattery or Robbery: Copying Other LEGO Builders and the Line Between Inspiration and Imitation was a really interesting subject to think through.
-I’ve also started a new series with Blocks Magazine with some in-depth interviews and articles about spectacular MOCs. Super proud of how that series looks and I encourage you to check it out if you’re somewhere where a Blocks subscription is available!
The year was a good one on other fronts as well; I went skydiving, spent two weeks in Guatemala on a missions trip, almost finished writing a new book that I’m super enthused about, and earned my black belt in Taekwondo (wait, that was this year?!). I also started keeping track of the books I read and apparently I passed 150; shout out to Martyn Lloyd-Jones’ Romans series which was incredible. In some ways it’s been a rollercoaster of a year, but I do like rollercoasters. Looking back, I’ve worked with so many children in one way or another this year, and those kiddos can really keep you on hot coals. But then to be fair, most of the real drama has come from parents.
My YouTube channel and pretty much also my personal website tumbled off the face of the earth this year, which is not really worth mentioning, but I put it here as a self-slap in the face that will hopefully get me going again next year.
My favorite build award this year goes to the Little Train I think, although Swallow’s Nest Castle, Artham Wingfeather, and the Lambo Space Champion are all knocking at the door.

We've once again reached the new year, so it's time to look back at what I've done this year. It's gone by so quickly, hasn't it?
As always, I've tagged a bunch of builders who have inspired me throughout this last year.
I started the year off by participating in the annual Iron Forge, placing in the top 8 as I faced off against the one and only ForlornEmpire. It was a true honor to compete against Eli, and I absolutley loved to see him compete in IB again just earlier this month. I'm hoping to compete in IF again in 2023, and I can't wait to see who else manages to compete!
After IF, I began experimenting with a new color scheme, untilizing old purple, one of my favorite LEGO colors. I ended up with this Bard's Cottage, in which I tried out a bunch of new geometric techniques. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice on it along the way!
In June, I began working with my collab team from last year (KitKat1414, mbricks52, and Dan The Fan) on a new series of builds for the Summer Joust. We created four builds focusing on an elderly gnome who created a magnificent feast for his woodland neighbors. We ended up winning the Exotic Feast collab category this year, which was super exciting!
After I began building for the collab, I travelled to Chicago to attend my first convention, Brickworld Chicago. I had a blast displaying with RebelLug, participating in the Simon/Markus games, putting together a bunch of Si-MOCs's models, and so much more. It was awesome to meet so many builders there! I'm looking forward to attending next June, I can't wait to see what new memories we can make together!
Although I haven't posted anything recently, I've still been building, slowly. Hopefully Brickscalibur and Iron Forge can get me back into the swing of things!
Thank you all for such a wonderful year.
