Think I'll take a shot once a week; so, we can watch the progress !!! Watch the leaves unfurl !!! Or, will it be flowers ?
My husband tends to amaryllis bulbs after they’ve flowered, and puts them in a cool, shadowy part of the garage for weeks or months. Then, amazingly, the bulbs regrow. This one has two strong stalks growing.
But of course I used the Laowa 2x magnification lens to get as close to this bud as possible.
I'll add a wiki link to the art of re-growing these South African beauties. I think they grow beautifully outdoors in Australia, too. This bulb has quite a few years on it now.

Masonic initiation well, Quinta da Regaleira, Sintra, Portugal.
This is one of two enigmatic wells ("inverted towers") spiraling into the ground of the Quinta, a spectacular estate shaped (1904-1910) by the eccentric entomologist António Carvalho Monteiro within a landscape marked by history (Neolithic, Romans, Moors, Templars) and adorned by architectures, lakes, fountains and grottoes of oriental and gothic inspiration.
The wells, connected by a mysterious network of tunnels, symbolize the hermetic allegory of death and rebirth and their oneiric character is reminiscent of the rings, sections and skies of Hell, Purgatory and Paradise crossed by Dante in the Divine Comedy

Despite being from the cactus family, the May flower does not have any thorns. It originates in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil and is scientifically known as schlumbergera truncata.
Its preferences are similar to orchids in terms of support. In its natural environment it prefers to use tree trunks as support. Therefore, this place is one of the best to keep your flower.
The name of this plant became popular due to its flowering, which takes place in May. However, it can be known in other ways depending on the region you are in. Thus, other common names are: silk flower, easter cactus for the southern hemisphere and christmas cactus for the northern hemisphere.
This flower fell in love with gardening enthusiasts because it is medium in size, has a huge variety of colors such as pink, pale yellow, red, orange and white, in addition to being very easy to grow.
The May flower reaches 30 cm in height, and can be kept in smaller pots with a diameter of 10 cm. Another curiosity is that if this plant is pollinated, it produces pink fruits with 1 to 2 cm when ripe.

This plant blooms in autumn, which in Brazil takes place between March and May. This time is close to Easter, which is also related to the flower. On the other hand, it can still bloom around Christmas in the Northern Hemisphere.
In this way, the May flower is linked to festivals that symbolize rebirth and life. Because it has many cheerful colors, it brings more liveliness to any environment in which it is, valuing any garden decoration around it.
The name silk flower is related to the soft and delicate texture of this flower. Therefore, these definitions are also among its meanings, offering more softness to the place where it is grown. That's why you can even stay in the plants to improve the energy of the house.
If offered as a gift, its symbolism indicates an attitude of pure and true feeling. It can also be used for declarations of love, representing the sincerity of the relationship.

The Palace of Westminster is one of the most iconic and significant buildings in the world and is a national monument of the UK. It is home to one of the busiest parliaments, with more than a million people, including 100,000 school children, passing through its doors each year.
A report last year estimated that, should MPs stay in the building while restoration took place, the cost could be as much as £7.1bn. Forcing MPs and peers to move into temporary accommodation for six years would halve the cost.
There are varying reports as to how long the renovation could take and going by what I have read so far, it could be anywhere between 3-7 years. This essentially means, we will never get to see the house of Parliament the way it is pictured here without any scaffolding or clothes around the structures to aid the renovation for a while. I shot this over a couple of years ago but I always thought I could get a better shot as the sunset was not to my liking..however, going by the current renovation estimates, it could be a long wait :/
The House of Parliament with the Big Ben and the bridge of Westminster across the Thames river is one of the most photographed landscapes in the UK if not the world...
Well, here's to hoping that this iconic building would undergo this rebirth swiftly and enable us to enjoy this view for many generations to come...

I will be mainly off Flickr for the next two weeks as I am part of a Flickr meetup with nine other wonderful photographers that many of you know. Starting tomorrow morning, we (me and the two others from here) will be showing others that are coming from far away our beautiful province and doing lots of photography. I will try to post and comment occasionally, if I have time. If you want to follow along, I will be posting on Facebook regularly, so if you're not already friends with me on there, feel free to add me :)
You might be puzzled about the title. Rebirth? Because this is sunrise. Poetical? M'kay, not really ! It's much more about the fact that this night we've been caught in an apocalyptic thunderstorm during almost four hours (thunder, heavy rain and - because it wouldn't have been fun without it, especially under a tent - hail !).
So yes, when the sunlight woke us up - perfect timing for taking the picture by the way - it felt good, really good. So we enjoyed a nice breakfast (as nice as dehydrated breakfast can be !), dried our staff and headed up in the mountains.
This was taken in the Dolomites, a few kilometers down the summit of Mt. Averau, and 2 hours (hike) from the Cinque Torri.
