i'm not going to be uploading an HBW shot this week,

ahahaa im really busy. i have to leave for work REALLYREALLY

soon, as it is im going to be super late.

i only had like, ten minutes to do a picture today, ahaha.

the topish image is a picture i painted the other

day. it's just another one of those pictures that

i like painting like a little kid. i will upload "serious"

things later maybe.

the bottom-ish is just a stupid picture

of clouds, i just ran outside and took like, one,

because im in a hurry, ahahahaa,

and thank you to everybody for being patient

with me lately, i havent been responding

to anything, don't worry tomorrow i have off

of work, so i will be heree :):)

No invites or graphics please!!!!

in the pine needles

Be prepared to hurt everyone around you

And, when you get to the end,

To have no one there to hold you.

"Wealth, fame, beauty, sex- these things won't make you happy. They will, however, make living in despair a little easier."

....

Actually the reason I posted this picture was because I'll be away for the weekend and won't be putting up a daily picture again until Tuesday. Just in case you might freak out and think I died or something. ;)

So not to worry, I'll be back! And I'll miss all of you, I will!

reallyreally!

Ooh, and also, I just noticed, this one is breaking that stream of photos in which the primary colour seems to be red.. finally.

Yay!

Unedited shot of a biker in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

My last weekend was near perfect, it lasted for 4 days, it was perfect weather, and I've spent lots of quality time with awesome people, so imagine my shock when I found out the Monday after, that I'll have to work this Friday, my usual day off! I'm actually trembling and also crying like a baby as I write this, so hurt is my delicate little, fluffy soul by the insult of an idea to make me get up at 6 in the morning, bike 10 kilometers and spend the whole day working? It's inhuman, that's what it is, and nobody should have to suffer like this...oh, wait, I just realized that most of my colleagues do this every week, all year long, all their lives...how the hell do they do it? And why?! Ah well, I'll console myself with the thought that I'll be off next week Thursday and Friday to make up for this horrible thing that has overpowered me, called a full working week, lol ;-D

P.s. If you're thinking now 'Well, I work 5 days a week, every week, and you don't see me rolling around on the floor with a snotty nose, crying like a baby over it!', I can only say, you must be some kind of superhuman, while I, as I have mentioned, am the proud owner of a delicate little, fluffy and easily upset soul, hahaha :D

Thank God it's Friday, I'm so going to try to get reallyreally drunk tonight!

uploading a little early this week, but that's okay. this is my gorgeous friend, Pezz, and she never fails to amaze me. I tried out a little different editing on this, so hopefully it looks okay (IT LOOKS A LOT BETTER ON BLACK)

so, for my birthday me and some of my friends went on a camping trip upstate, and although it was pretty much raining the whole time, it was reallyreally fun. the first night, our tent flooded </3 so we spent most of the night in the bathhouse of the campground and went to the lake when it was pitch black until it got lighter. during the few days we were there, we became obsessed with One Direction, created a fake family tree, and shaved with burritos. yep. we're cool, obviously. oh yeah and LOUIS TOMLINSON IS THE SEXIEST PERSON ON THE PLANET NBD

FANGIRLING YO

so, there are pictures of the camping trip, just for fun. we're dorks lawl

I had a bit of fun editing this photo, haha. Meh, I was fighting with the text/fonts a lot, but I suppose this will have to do for now.

I'm hanging out with my two best friends from high school today! We've been really close ever since eighth grade, but nowadays it's REALLYREALLY hard getting the three of us together because we're in college and are all at different campuses. I can't wait to hang out because the three of us only get together like 3-4 times a year! We're going to dress up in cute summery dresses and have a tea party :)

not having any shots today all I can do is to shoot random(ish) office and give myself and assignment : edit the living daylight out if it so it looks even remotely like a photo should look like , i.e. not like "real life" ... and what the hell is "real life" anyway?

Slightly edited shot of people ice skating on a canal in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1.

You may have heard the rumors already, and I would like to confirm them, yes, it's true, we are ice skating on the canals in the best city in the world! It does not happen often that the canals are frozen over long enough and deep enough to allow this pleasure, so the first time you see the locals put on their skates and hit the ice, you might think you've smoked too much of our fine selection of natural herbs, but you can trust your eyes, it's real, it's happening, it's fun :D

I reallyreally need to buy new skates, I LOVE ice skating!!! Let's hope that the next Winter will be as cold and freezy :)

Thank God it's Friday!

I've made 2 movies of the ice skaters too, check them out on my YouTube channel, thank you :)

I seriously was about to call it quits, then this finally popped up (: Funny because the previsualization I had for this shoot was actually something summery and carefree... but it turned out just about the opposite. haha. I'm quite happy with it though, the atmosphere is really dreamy--hence the title.

SOOC original

Speaking of dreams, I finally got my stingy why-pay-for-cinema-when-I-can-torrent-movies-for-free butt to go see Inception. Because of its high peer ratings & its Nolan-flick featuring Marion Cottilard status, I reallyreally wanted to be mindblown. But alas! t'was not the case. In a nutshell, take the psychological premise of Memento, add the actions of The Matrix, mix in the surreal hint of Paprika, and that's Inception for ya. Definitely not Christopher Nolan's best.

Fucking trees in the middle of the highway!!!

As much as I mourn the end of the Summer, I welcome the colder seasons with open arms...even though it never gets reallyreally hot in the Netherlands, I easily overheat and have to wear T-shirts and shorts while others already hide under layers of jackets, scarfs and gloves. This is a feature that makes me very popular with the ladies, as we (men) all know, women always have cold feet and a man who has excessive body heat to offer is wanted almost as much as a rich, good-looking man, lucky me, hahaha ;-D

Today there was a demonstration against Police brutality on the Spui square, mostly Punks&Squatters from the looks of it, and they played 'Fuck the Police' by NWA reallyreally loud...I went into the ABC bookstore and had a nice musical background for my shopping :)

Lots of good music, they played Icecube and other classic material, respect to the Punks :)

so. i've got two tags to do, so i picked two random pictures & figured i'd start.

1. i went to see hedley in concert with two of my best friends, and it was probably one of the best nights. ever.

2. i just got my cartilage pierced, which i've been wanting to do foreverr.

3. i have a really bad habit of laughing at inappropriate moments.

4. sometimes, i'll talk out loud to myself and i won't realize i'm doing it until everyone's staring at me. like last year's history final. that was pretty fun.

5. i'm way, way taller than almost all of my friends. by, like, six inches.

6. i dance all the time. not, like, actual dance. more like sliding around in my socks and waving my arms. it alarms the neighbors. and occasionally their dog.

7. i'm interning at the local newspaper and one of my articles is going to be published on thursday and i'm reallyreally excited about it. :D

8. i say 'like' too much. as you can probably tell.

9. precalc will be the death of me. we're two pages into a new unit and i'm already hopelessly confused.

10. if matt wertz or the summer set or parachute ever came back here for another concert, i think i would probably die of happiness. but first i'd buy tickets.

well. thank you for looking at all of this<3

Another series of puddle pictures shot with that Sony HX1 I've borrowed a couple of times in the last weeks and that I madly fell in love with, I MUST buy this cam, even though I can't afford it at the moment...well, I could buy it, but since I've lived in the Netherlands for a considerable part of my life now, I've been infected with the Dutch virus that forbids us to spend money on anything at all, unless we reallyreally have to, lol ;-D

Maybe I'll organize a guitar from somewhere and make some music in the downtown area for the tourists to collect cash, I'm sure I'd feel less horrible about spending money if it wasn't mine, haha :)))

Last night it started to snow again in Amsterdam and this morning the sun is shining, creating a beautiful scenario of whiteness bathing in lovely rays of light, and if I wasn't so lazy, I would be outside right now, making a snowman and taking pictures. I think I'll just have one more coffee and then I'll go outside to play...maybe just one more cigarette too...and then one last coffee and a smoke, but then I'll go, really...OK, maybe just one more ciggie...and then I'll reallyreally go, I promise...unless I'll need another coffee first, haha :D

Slightly edited windowreflection of Amsterdam. Taken with my HTC Desire using the Camera360 Android app. Some contrast and saturation added, no Photoshop :)

Damn, it's HOT!!! We went from really crappy weather to reallyreally way-too-hot weather in just a few days, the humidity level is at about 150% and it's suddenly almost 30 degrees, causing old folks to drop dead in the streets, birds to fall out of the sky like little feathered rocks, and religious people to speak in tongues. After just 3 days of this unbearable heat, I long for a rainy day, preferably combined with some hail storms and snow, for a serious cool-down, I'm already totally dehydrated and can't fill up my body with cold liquids fast enough to achieve a bodily-fluid equilibrium. They say there is a lot more of this weather coming our way, so I'll probably have to invent a Full-body-ice-bag-suit or something to make it through the coming weeks and months, lol Oh man, it started to rain last night, that sucks, I want the nice'n'hot weather back, booooo, hahaha :D

Wait, did I just complain about the fact that it's finallyfinally Summer in the best city in the world?! Sorry about that, I must have a sun-stroke already or something, hehehe :)

Slightly edited shot of a big booty biker babe in Amsterdam. Taken with my Sony HX1.

First of all, I need to apologize for calling this series of shots 'The Big Booty Biker Babe', that's a very sexist and demeaning thing to say, and I'm really sorry, but I'm trying to make a point here: The good girls of Amsterdam ride their bikes like Pros, they are faster, fitter, cooler and better looking than any other group of girls on this planet, and they make biking look reallyreally good! But there's one downside to this flaunted fitness, the saddles of our old-fashioned grannybikes squash our behinds into unnatural shapes while riding, and when one of us actually hops of his/her bike, which almost never happens, we even stay mounted when we're sleeping, it takes a while before our tushies find their own form back, resulting in weird shapes while they're resetting to their natural states, and if you're unlucky enough to have me and my cam with its mighty zoomlens in your back while it's happening to you, you end up with pictures like these out there on the Interwebs, hahaha :D

Sorry Amsterdam ladies, just kidding, you're fiiiiiiiiiine!!!

Have a good start into the new week, take it easy!

Unedited shot of the Westerkerk in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)

One of the many things I like about Amsterdam is that it's full of living history, for example the house where Anne Frank used to live, right behind the Westerkerk that you can see in these shots. Just walking around in the area, looking at the church tower with its bells and clock that Anne used to listen to, and appreciated so much, makes you think about life, and how strange, crazy and cruel it can be, and how you have to enjoy it right here, right now, because you never know what might happen tomorrow. I've never been inside the world famous Anne Frank House, because there's always a reallyreally long line of people waiting to get in, but I feel her vibe when I bike by :)

Have a beautiful, dry, sunny weekend :)

Wicked reflections

www.amstersam.com

I'm always sad when labor day rolls around, because it means the end of summer, and I love summer with a fiercely irrational passion.

It's not just because of the hot weather, although I love that. I've grown up here on the Eastern Shore, so the humidity and mugginess pressing down on you just feel natural to me, somehow. When I moved to Ohio I was alarmed by how dry the air is during the winter, and I couldn't get used to static-y hair.

It's not just because of the beach, although I love that to. Despite years when I didn't go to the beach because I was embarrassed to be seen in public wearing a swimsuit covered by knee-length shorts and a tshirt (yes, that's how we swam), and subsequent years when I was just ashamed of the way I looked, period, I've always loved the beach. The sound of the waves makes me relax, and the salt air makes my skin happy.

No, the main reason I love summer is because of the nights. For some reason, I've no idea why, sitting outside on a summer night, watching the lightening bugs begin to wink, enjoying the relief from the heat of the day, well, right then I feel like infinite possibilities await me. The world lies before me, and if I want to reach the moon all I have to is work reallyreally hard.

When cold weather comes I begin to fold in on myself, wanting to hibernate, wanting to sleep away the long nights and short days. In winter, I dream only of seeing summer again.
