I realized something interesting about shooting the moon. It's not like night photography; more like photographing a lightbulb. If you want to see past the light you've gotta ramp up the shutter speed and close down the aperture. Still lots to learn.

Sorry but I did not take this today. This is from Monday, when the sunlight was just gorgeous!

Today I was watching my brothers baseball game, and it was about 85 degrees so not terrible. But when I got home, I realized that the whole back of my shoulders were completely burned! I've never been burned before this year, and I hate it!

I realized I uploaded single frame versions by mistake, I actually meant to upload these panoramas, but since some people already commented on them, I won't delete the single frame "mistakes".

View of Lake Lucerne, or Vierwalstaettersee, from Chanzli viewpoint on Rigi mountain. Hundreds of tourists visit this mountain every day, but very few of them make the easy 15 minute walk from the cable car station (which resembles Shanghai at rush hour at mid day) to this viewpoint, I feel guilty revealing the secret! I was there alone most of the 2 hours I spent there in the evening except for local swiss hikers and it was completely deserted when I came back in the morning.

Today I realized that November is my favorite month of the year... who knew?!! Every November for the past few years I have gone on my some of my favorite photo shoots. Maybe there's something about trying to squeeze in one last fun thing before the craziness of the holidays takes over.

Speaking of craziness... how fortunate I am to have a friend that says.... Throw your clown costume in the car, we might need them! Thank God for these photoshoots that take my mind off of a job that I have come to really dislike... it's so time for a change!! I have to remind myself daily not to give up on my dreams... Don't give up on yours either!

I realize this may just be 'New Avatar Infatuation', but I'm really enjoying how Armorsmith photographs....

I realize my images of Spain are a bit too dramatic, but the day I took this image was not so nice. It was the day we left and by the time we got on our plane, there was a storm outside, just perfect for the second time I was flying... taking off right into the storm, with lightnings and strong winds all over. I felt so relived to touch the ground again :D

Once I realized street art was everywhere in Florence, I was more hyper-aware of looking for it. This artist's work was simple but heartfelt. I especially liked the black shoe prints on the wall, given that this artwork was 5 feet off the ground.

Feeling nervous about the new year, the little man tries to stop the clock…

As we head into the new year, I wish for health and happiness for you and your loved ones.

Let’s keep lifting one another up, sharing kindnesses and support, understanding that every one of us is valuable and has something important to share.

Let’s remember that together we shine so much brighter, a beacon of light and hope that reminds us and others that we are one.

Let’s keep offering one another a hand when we fall down, giving each other a little nudge when we get stuck, realizing we’re all on the same team.

Let’s keep learning, listening, encouraging, connecting, growing, inspiring, and creating.

Stay confident. Stay strong. And don’t let anything stop you from blazing your trail.

Happy New Year, everyone!

I realized that I hadn't shown Holly's EuroTrash dress in full...it is filled with lovely details! AND the light isn't cooperating with me here to show it fully...maybe that will happen at another time!

I realized that If I had to choose, I would rather have birds than airplanes.

Charles Lindbergh,

I have realized that I haven't taken many flower photos yet this year. So I went to one of the cutflower fields near home this morning. Most of the gladiolas have clearly suffered of the heat and lack of rain (the dahlias seem to cope much better) but I love them even if they may not be perfect.

...I realize

Just what you mean

To me

And now

Now that you're near

Promise your love

That I've waited to share

And dreams

Of our moments together

Colour my world with hope of loving you

Happy New Year!

Slowly

Taken in Washington Park, Albany, NY, on a wildly foggy December day...when the fog stayed thick on the ground for hours and the birds called and gathered in the trees in such volumes that it felt the slightest bit eerie. The lack of snow and the heavy fog made me think it was warmer than it was. When I realized my hands were stiff and numb I retreated to my car and saw with great surprise it was only 32 degrees.

sorry I just realized I hadn't opened this until now, Aug 30 p.m. :'/

I realize my recent burst of Canadian stuff is neglecting CN a bit. They're actually kind of a big deal up there. I haven't expended a whole lot of time going after them, but they're pretty dominant and sometimes you just end up with the right target. On July 11, 2018, Ian and I woke up in Kindersley, Sask., with a hint that a train would be headed east toward Saskatoon the next day. This line is just a glorified branch now, so it takes a hint of luck to find a target. Instead, our quarry ended up going west. It's a local for the end of the line at Oyen, Alta., behind a pair of SD40-2Ws. The canola is in full bloom and oil wells are in full production. The train is on the approach to Marengo, Sask., and a dozen or so miles will cross the boundary into Alberta.

Today I just realized I took this picture exactly one week after the previous image—the same tree, different clouds, and leaves a different color, while riding in the car to the another neurofeedback appointment.

I took this picture while riding in the car about 70 miles per hour down the highway (my husband was driving) on the way to a recent neurofeedback appointment. Sometimes I bring my camera and see what I can capture as a way to cope with my severe mental health struggles. This tree, all alone, reminds me of how I often feel as a result of experiencing devastating traumas and severe mental health struggles. And somehow it feels a little helpful to make an image like this.

Somehow at the beginning of January we start to realize that winter will be here for a few months more, and we can't help to go back and remember the days in the sun and the warmer temperatures.

I guess I need a vacation, again...

A happy tune for a Monday :)

Photography is my passion, and nature photography is my favorite.

I have been in Explore for more that a hundred times, and it is an awesome experience to have your photos showcased in such a special way.

I'm in many groups, and I only add my photos to them if they are not private.

I thank your for coming today, for leaving a comment, and make a favorite of yours this photo, (if that is the case) thanks again!

The best part of this forum is the contacts and friends that I have made over the years, that have the same passion for this art that is called photography!

"Finding peace"

The moment you realize that you can have everything you want in life. However, it takes timing, the right heart, the right action, the right passion and a willingness to risk it all. If it is not yours, it is because you really didn't want it!!! ;)

02/26/21...Was on the phone the other day, when I saw this Opossum by the shore of the pond...I watched it for a few minutes before realizing I had a photo op...so off the phone and out the door I went! I hope this Opossum is OK...I always thought they were nocturnal.🤔 I could not really see what it was up to by the shore...getting a drink...washing up? It let me get about 20 feet (6M) before taking evasive action and did a slow trot off into the distance.

After checking a dozens of spots near Ephrata where burrowing owls had been reported, scanning every rock and fence-post, I looked at the clock and realized it was time to start driving home. I'll get you owls next time!

Just after hitting 60 mph, with 3+ hours of driving ahead of me, something caught my eye. There was one little owl, just off the highway, watching the cars drive by.

I realized earlier this week that I haven't posted any photos of NYC laterly. I love you , NYC, but your cost of living is insane and always brings me down. Still, rides at Coney Island!

realized this framing looked cool, decided to throw it through some editing

i realize i live in a ridiculous place ...

... especially when the wildflowers are still blooming in the second week of July, and the fog is coming over the hill but the water is still blue because the sun is still out.

I realize that for Marilyn, this is a balmy spring day on the ranch. But I like to enjoy what little cool weather we do get here in the South. This is MY kind of weather, 16 degrees!

Dear friends, I am realizing that my archives are rich in forsaken treasures – yes, I know that in those days of lockdown you all are realizing the very same thing ;-)

This picture comes from a sunrise session at my favourite location, the meanders of the river Adda, dating from April 2015. I would avoid to nag you about this incredibly wonderful location: you can take a look at my album Silent banks, the complete collection of the photos I have taken there; the attached narratives are rich in information about the place, if you are curious enough.

This location is especially renowned for its legendary morning mists, but only a thin layer of milky mist floated above the water that morning.

I have picked this specific bracketing for a number of reasons (including the dewdrops you can see on the grass in the foreground), but I suspect that its main merit lays in giving me a feeling of opening to new possibilities. In the same vein, I believe that this pandemic will open a whole world of new paths for us to travel along. After the pain and the sorrow, after having regained the closeness we had taken for granted for so much time before the storm abruptly took it away from us… After we have risen from the ashes of Covid-19 we will be bound to take seriously a huge lot of lessons that this (not even alive) tiny speck of proteins and RNA has taught us. We will have to unveiling our souls because everyone’s soul counts – everyone can contribute to a new way of living, just as now the raging infection requires that everyone accepts and practises the lockdown – and everyone has a role to play in this common struggle.

I have obtained this picture by blending an exposure bracketing [-1.7/0/+1.7 EV] by luminosity masks in the Gimp (EXIF data, as usual, refer to the "normal exposure" shot), then, as usual, I added some final touches with Nik Color Efex Pro 4.

I tried the inverted RGB blue channel technique described by Boris Hajdukovic as a possible final contribution to the processing. While this technique (which, its imposing name notwith standing, is pretty simple to implement) often holds interesting results in full daylight landscapes, its effects on a low-light capture (e.g. a sunrise) are utterly unpredictable, so at the end of my workflow I often give it a try to ascertain its possibilities. In this picture I have exploited this technique in a very frugal, yet effective, way – just some touches where needed.

RAW files has been processed with Darktable. Denoising with DFine 2 and the Gimp (denoised and original images blended by lightness).

I just realized that we haven't been in the forest together for a while.

And since it's been really warm in the last few days and a little cooling down is needed again, I'll try to solve both problems at once.

Is it already working? If not, I have a few little details for you about the photo.

The temperatures on this beautiful winter morning in the Königsbrücker Heide were around minus 15 degrees Celsius. The air was as clear as glass and the snow crunched under my boots with every step. The ground was covered with small ice crystals that sparkled like small diamonds wherever the sun reached them. And every single branch had been encased in a crust of ice and snow and transformed into a work of art. And when the morning sun made these sculptures shine, it was a fairytale sight.

Otherwise there was an extraordinary silence in the forest as the snow absorbed the sounds that tried to get through to me from "civilization".

Well, I don't know about you, but I'm feeling a little more refreshed now.

The moment I saw you I knew my life would never be the same again. At the time, I didn't know what that actually meant.

It was only over time that I realized what a gift, what an enrichment you are for my life. That there is a person who means more to me than anything else. It still overwhelms me when I think back to your first hour in the world, which I was allowed to spend with you. Okay, most of the time you were yelling at me, but since then, at least that's how it feels to me, something special connects us.

And now look at you, 18 years later. This little baby whose feet were smaller than my thumb has grown into a beautiful young woman.

A young woman with personality, with rough edges, with a lot of empathy and humor. It fills me with great pride to see you like this today.

I am very happy to have you in my life and that I was able to accompany you on your way to here and that I can continue to do so.

For your further journey, which is called life, I wish you much success and happiness and all the best. At the same time, I wish you the strength and self-confidence to overcome setbacks and defeats. I am excited to see where your journey will take you and i will always be there for you if you need me.

I've come to realize lately from your comments that there is a longing to see more ocean, and I've also realized that I don't photograph the ocean nearly enough! I myself, returning from my recent two-day trip, wanted to see the ocean first, even before going home. I actually feel that longing every day.

My title is taken from a Tears for Fears song called Rivers of Mercy:

If by magic, you mean the ocean

If by tragic, you mean the end

I only came across this song a couple of months ago but was immediately struck to the core by those mysterious opening words. Even without any further context - or maybe especially without any other context, I feel these two lines are quite possibly the most beautiful lyrics ever written! They seem to encapsulate a dimension of truth so deep and profound that it makes me tremble inside. I see reflected my own reactions to the sea as well as questions about the whole of humanity.

After deciding that I wanted to post an ocean photo with this title, I went out with my best lens and quickly discovered what a challenge it is to deliberately photograph "the ocean." The play of light, colors, waves is always changing. I literally said out loud to myself: "I could take a picture of the ocean every day and never get that ONE definitive photo!" And so an idea was born. It's time for a new Flickr project: 52 weeks of ocean photos!

It will be my gift to everyone with the hunger to see the ocean, and it will be my own never-ending pursuit trying to capture the magic.

The horizon changes everything. Who, in his right mind, worships a candle once he realizes its sole purpose is to help guide him toward the dawn? Likewise, who in his right mind thinks that his light and his light alone can guide the path forward? Once I see that what I see is not the totality of the truth, I also see other people, perhaps for the first time. I see them in their alterity—in their otherness—and not merely as empty abstractions or potential resources (or obstacles) for satisfying my desires. If I take God to exist, well, then, they must exist as well; they must have something to do with the same God who created me. They must be I’s like me. Perhaps I should listen to them. Perhaps, even, I should love them, maybe, even, as much as I love myself. Maybe, even, if they don’t love me.

I realize that I just uploaded an American Tree Sparrow shot, but I really liked the look of this shot that I got last weekend. I noticed a group of sparrows in a brush pile so I 'spished' them out into the open. The charming little guy mounted itself on the best perch and I took the shot. It won't be long before these sparrows make their way out of Iowa and back into Canada for the summer.

MYANMAR, Burma - historic train station and ring railway in Yangon (Rangoon).

If I had been here alone, I would not have realized how the process of buying tickets and finding the right train works. We went with a local tour guide who organized everything. It's definitely worth taking the ring train around the city. We only drove part of the way. You come together with the locals. Can watch the vendors on the train and also have an insight into life next to the tracks.

I photographed this simple home in Tucson with the giant Saguaro's in the front yard. A few weeks earlier I found out that Universal Films reached out to me about using some of my photography in a new motion picture that will be directed by Steven Spielberg. My photography will be in a Steven Spielberg film! Any film would be an achievement for me but how incredible is this. I know its just a few images but its such a blessing. I am very thankful to God and my wife for allowing me this side hobby/passion of love photography has given me. I also want to thank everyone out there for always saying kind words and giving encouragement. Take care and God Bless.

I didn't realize who you were when I took this photo. Then I thought the way you smoked that cigarette looked familiar. Flick of the hand. Chimney of wispy tendrils. Somehow you sensed me too, and you turned your head and looked at me.

Somehow I realized that my skin could be a sensitized surface. Since [my sister] Louise was the photographic subject of the house, I put a negative of a picture of her on my upper arm, and taped it there with surgical tape. I was eight or nine, and we were still living in Cedarhurst, so I went out into the sun, in the backyard, with the negative taped to my shoulder. I actually kept it there for two or three days. Then I peeled it off, and there was Louise, burned into my skin. That was my first portrait :-)

I have realized that my camera skills are in a steep decline from using it in low light situations this holiday. Little wonder given the year we've had - plague, accepting a promotion while holding down my old tasks for half a year, and a lack of creative spirit that these factors contributed too. I am hoping I can knock the rust off the mojo and get back to recording the things that make me happy in 2021. I will start with these two before my wife takes down the tree. Flea is 8 or 9 now and sweet as can be, a real one man dog who can usually be found stuck to me like glue. Ginger is two now and a super goofy but loveable girl about town.

Just realized I hadn't posted this photograph taken last October. My buddy, Mike Koenig, and I hit perfect conditions on this day. We hiked down into the gorge late afternoon and had the whole place to ourselves. Our shutter fingers were happily clicking away trying to take in every conceivable composition.

We reluctantly had to stop when we realized it was past sunset and by the time we began to hike up we were in total darkness. Luckily, Mike had a headlamp but it was still pretty creepy getting out. But what a great day.

I took this photograph a couple of years ago, mainly out of boredom. I was standing at the exact spot where I took it, waiting for a friend who was late. The image itself was insignificant. Other views that are more representative of Sitges, a seaside town close to Barcelona, are also available. It's well-known for its beauty and lively atmosphere. It's also where I used to spend my summers during my childhood and early youth.

I thought it wasn't worth sharing, so I decided to delete it. Then I had an idea: I'd try to reinvent the old postcards people bought when I was a kid. They were, somehow, similar to this shot: loud, overexposed, and of poor quality.

With the arrival of foreign tourists, greetings from... began to appear. Previously, it would have been "Recuerdos desde...", always in Spanish because Catalan was publicly forbidden and restricted to family settings.

They used to bear a stamp of some kind, such as a flag or a town shield.

Those who know the place will immediately realize it's a modern image. Apart from the way people are dressed, you can see buildings that didn't exist at that time.

I suppose those who have never seen anything like this, or who are not reading this explanation, won't like the photograph. Anyway, I had a great time editing it.

When I saw this sunset I realized to without my camera, luckely I had my phonr with me

Many thanks to everyone who will pass by visiting my shots. Comments are appreciated. You are welcome. Sergio
