My first figure upload in 10 months, I'm back with my 5th version of Delta Squad. Starting us off is Fixer, the tech expert and squad second-in-command.
The decals are 100% designed and applied by me. CloneArmyCustoms manufactured the helmet, backpack, and carbine. They are some fantastic pieces.
I changed decal paper brands, got a much higher quality printer, and now use laser printed decals. All of this allowed me to make a much higher quality product.
This is a brand-new template, one that went through several trial runs (including three versions of Delta that I never posted, hence this being the 5th version). Decals cover every surface of the figure. The arm design covers almost the entire area of the arm, and what wasn't covered (the edges of the shoulder) I painted black. All torso and leg designs wrap around to all four sides of the piece smoothly. There is even a decal on the top of the torso (though I didn't snag a picture). The helmet and backpack templates are also vastly improved. My leg template was heavily inspired by AndrewVxtc, though I did make some different design and aesthetic choices, and I designed it all myself. Shoutout to Andrew, thanks for the inspiration!
I drybrushed black acyrillic paint over the entire figure to give it a really nice weathered look. The chips in the paint were designed in the decals, however. It turned out really nice and adds a lot to the figure. Though it's hard to see, I also drybrushed the DC-17 with a gunmetal color.
One of the things I love most about this figure are all the little details I was able to fit in. For starters, Fixer has his two-toned design, and I tried to make it as subtle as I could while still making it visible. He has his pauldron-type-thing on his right shoulder, something very few customizers add.

RC-1207, also known as Delta-07 or by his chosen nickname of Sev, was a clone of Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett. Born in 32 BBY on the watery world of Kamino, Sev was trained by the Mandalorian Cuy'val Dar training sergeant Walon Vau to become a clone commando in the Grand Army of the Republic. Joining with three other commandos to form the elite special forces unit Delta Squad, Sev served as the unit's star sniper. When the Clone Wars broke out between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Sev would take his place in the Grand Army's Special Operations Brigade under Jedi General Arligan Zey, and serve alongside his clone brothers in Delta Squad on a number of battlefields, ranging from the deserts of Geonosis, the halls of the RAS Prosecutor, and the streets of Coruscant, to snowy Mygeeto and the plains of Haurgab. Known for his morbid sense of humor and a hatred of Geonosians, Sev was an efficient killer and loyal soldier who completed several covert operations with Delta Squad until the squad's fateful mission to Kashyyyk. There, while in the process of destroying a Separatist warship over the Wookiee city of Kachirho, Sev fell under attack and the other members of Delta Squad were ordered to pull out of the area without him, forced to leave Sev behind. Not knowing whether he was alive or dead, Sev became one of many clone soldiers listed as missing in action.

Finally after so many months of waiting, he is here!!! I've been working on his last details during the weekend. I'm so happy with how it came out. Must be one of my best yet. Thanks for all the support during though moments.

Over the years I've built several remote-controlled vehicles. My Scania recovery truck and FDNY ladder truck both used LEGO Power Function IR control, with self-centring steering. The battery boxes that were available at the time were very bulky, however, so it was only suitable for fairly large vehicles. My later Toyota FJ40 used LEGO's own Power Functions car chassis, which allows building a much smaller vehicle. It's actually a reasonable match for the scale of most of my vehicles, as long as they have a short wheelbase (hence my choice for an FJ40). However, it's almost undrivable.
A few weeks ago I saw a minifig scale RC truck by Nikolaus Löwe, which combines a Power Functions receiver with an older 9V Technic Motor and a 9V micromotor. That got me thinking about having another go at my own RC car. I had the motors, I had a receiver and I had a newer slightly more compact battery box. All I had to do was buy PF extension wires that are compatible with the old 9V system and I was good to go.
The aim is to make it practically indistinguishable from my other cars (with the exception of the IR receiver, which for obvious reasons will have to exposed). That also means I want opening doors and seats inside for a driver and passenger. The smaller battery box is still bulky, though, so it's not going to be a compact car. I'm currently looking at an SUV (probably a Chevy Tahoe or GMC Yukon) with tinted rear windows to hide the electrical bits from view. Or, if I can't get that to work, I may build a small tow truck (in which I can hide the battery box in a tool cabinet behind the cab).
Because there are Technic bits inside I'm going about building this a little differently. I normally start with the outside of a car and build the floorpan / chassis as I go along. For this I'm starting with the chassis instead. This is version 0.1, next to my older Chevrolet Suburban model. There still is a lot of room for improvement. The belt drive I use for the steering is glacially slow and keeps slipping, so it drives like an absolute pig (still better than LEGO's RC chassis, though). I also don't like that there's a fairly large gear sticking out of the bottom and I think the 9V motor sits too high. Ideally I'll have room to put the battery box on top of it rather than to its side, quite possibly mounted sideways to allow it to fit under the roof and with the on-off switch behind one of the rear doors.
