This location opened in spring 1996 and was heavily gutted and renovated throughout spring-fall 2018; it was originally a Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits, which opened in winter 1986 and closed in 1987. It became Grecian Gardens in summer 1988, which closed in fall 1990 and became a Carvel Ice Cream in 1992.

We joined an anti-Trump rally in San Rafael on November 20, 2016, a couple weeks after the election, to express our opposition to the new Trump regime. We marched peacefully down 4th Street, meeting in City Hall with hundreds of protesters, including Phyllis, Steve, Rachelle, BJ and other friends from across the North Bay.
Phyllis was filmed by a CBS 5 news crew, chanting: “We reject the President-Elect.” Her closeup made the evening news. The event was put together by a few high school girls and their parents, who just sent out an invitation to their close friends and were surprised by the turnout.
It felt great to stand up for our rights, social justice and transparency -- and join forces to support politics of hope, not fear. We were energized to be part of this active and diverse community and to voice our shared concerns about a man that is so clearly unfit to serve as U.S. President.
