I'm running low on current shots, so here's one from May that I didn't get up earlier. Magnolia Warbler at the Gaddy Garden in Tower Grove Park, St Louis Missouri
Spotted at Boukoul, Limburg while hiking the Pieterpad long distance trail.
Zoom in to max to admire the details :-)

The Color of Rain
If I were a Rainmaker. . .
I would make a rain of light over the month of November
To take the children to an unexpected magical world
Without sky, but covered with droplets of gold.
If I were a Rainmaker. . .
I would make a rain of light on our world
To make the colors more vibrant than any sun could ever do
And make silence, the time of a downpour of hopes.
If I were a Rainmaker. . .
I would go back to these soaked meadows, covered with fog
Like in a surreal world
With only presences
The evanescent contours of my world
And a thousand colors of your soul.

This Little Blue Heron was making its own rain to cool down!

As always, thank you so much for stopping by and for leaving any comments or faves, they are very much appreciated.
This land, abandoned and dried out
This land, no one hears you shout
In my hand, the seed of love and life
But in this land it withers and it dies
Over the mountains
Higher
When will you find us?
Higher
Over the mountains
Higher
When will you find us?
Oh, I hear
Hear the echo of your drums
It's in your hands
Let the rain dance
Oh, I feel
Feel the power of your song
It's in your call
Let the rain fall
Make it rain, make it rain, rainmaker, oh oh
Make it rain, make it rain, rainmaker, oh oh
One love carried by the wind
One love glowing on our skin
Join us when the sun is high
It only takes one love
To open up the sky
Over the mountains
Higher
When will you find us?
Higher
Over the mountains
Higher
When will you find us?
Oh, I hear
Hear the echo of your drums
It's in your hands
Let the rain dance
Oh, I feel
Feel the power of your song
It's in your call
Let the rain fall
Make it rain, make it rain, rainmaker, oh oh
Make it rain, make it rain, rainmaker, oh oh
Oh, I hear
Hear the echo of your drums
It's in your hands
Let the rain dance
Oh, I feel
Feel the power of your song
It's in your call
Let the rain fall
Oh, I hear
Hear the echo of your drums
It's in your hands
Let the rain dance
Oh, I feel
Feel the power of your song
It's in your call
Let the rain fall
Make it rain, make it rain, rainmaker, oh oh
Make it rain, make it rain, rainmaker, oh oh
Make it rain, make it rain, rainmaker, oh oh
Make it rain, make it rain, rainmaker, oh oh.

On our last day in Costa Rica we were going to go on some hikes at Manuel Antonio National Park but we were advised by lots of naturalists that even with the pandemic that park always has way too many people and even though you can still see quite a few of the Costa Rica wildlife staples there like monkeys and sloths, you can see far more wildlife in similar habitat outside of the park. We were able to setup a tour at the Rainmaker Nature Park which is just a fantastic place and my family all had a wonderful time there even though true to its name it rained on us almost the whole time. (Keep in mind it was really late into the dry season by this point).
I will post some cell phone shots of the beautiful rainforest habitat there and trails later. Unfortunately I didn't take many landscape shots with my camera. I don't know why since I had my 12-100mm readily available. I did however take lots of wildlife shots. My favorite find was this beautiful big impressive Brown Basilsk which our guide spotted basking right next to the river as if it was guarding its favorite spot. it was so strange to see a lizard basking in the rain but these lizards really like water.
I am posting 3 shots here to show the lizard from far away and closeup. It didn't let me get within 25 feet of it before it bolted so the first is a 1:1 crop followed by a shot at 100mm (200mm FF equiv) and a wider angle shot from farther away.
Notice all those nasty no-see-um flies in the air right above the lizard.
If we ever get to that part of Costa Rica again I definitely want to visit the Rainmaker again. Especially for a night hike. I was pretty annoyed that I had called their US office to arrange a night tour the night before and was told it was too late and they were already booked. Then I found out the next day from our guide that his night tour participants actually cancelled on him because of the rain. It would have been better for both of us if me and my son had been able to do the tour.
Misty is an extremely intelligent and active lioness and her keepers have to find ways to keep her entertained.
One of her favourite games to play with the keeper is to chase a water bottle filled with water.
I caught this shot just as the bottle was out of view but Misty's eyes intenetly on it.
I loved the effect of the water coming from the bottle....

Thank you for stopping by to look at my images. I appreciate any faves and comments. Have a great day.
... not when it's too late and a bunch of republicans and dealmakers steal the little people's social achievements and their money!

The scene shortly before 3 inches of rain fell in 30 minutes. The storm also packed winds of over 70 mph leading to widespread power outages. There was a lot of straight line wind damage in the area besides flash flooding. Many of us farmers in the area are already writing this year off due to flattened and soggy fields...
In our area in Northwest Illinois, we have had over 10 inches of rain in the last 10 days...
Praça da República, São Paulo.
I had a work trip to Brazil, had 1 day free time for 'walkabout'. Never been there before, a very different city to shoot pictures. Graffiti capital, some great people shots, some good parks etc. My local heron back home is shy and flies away whenever i get close, so this one being in the city centre park was perfect as he's used to people. I won't bother my local heron anymore.
I'm well known as a rainmaker in my family. Wherever I go on holiday it rains, People ask me about my leave plans so they can avoid my locations and the weeks that I take.
There's a character in "Hitch-hikers guide to the Galaxy" who is worshipped by rain clouds -
"And as he drove on, the rainclouds dragged down the sky after him, for, though he did not know it, Rob McKenna was a Rain God. All he knew was that his working days were miserable and he had a succession of lousy holidays. All the clouds knew was that they loved him and wanted to be near him, to cherish him, and to water him" (Douglas Adams)
I empathise with him
One from the depths of the hard drive archive. But I saw it and it made me smile.
Have a great day guys
Spending time on the phone ... I also had my camera and took virtually the same photo with it and posted it earlier. I'm not sure which one is better. :)

These man made irrigation (rain maker) devices are ubiquitous throughout rural Georgia as well as other areas of the country. Massive in size, they allow the watering of thousands of acres when Nature isn't providing the required water from the skies.

Well, I wonder what it's like to be a rainmaker
I wonder what it's like to know that I made the rain
I'd store it in boxes with little yellow tags on every one
And you can come and see them when I'm done
When I'm done
I wonder what it's like to be a superhero
I wonder where I'd go if I could fly around downtown, yeah
From some other planet, I'd get this funky high on the yellow sun
Boy, I bet my friends will all be stunned
They're stunned
Yeah
Straight up, what did you hope to learn about here?
If I was someone else, would this all fall apart?
Strange, where were you when we started this gig?
I wish the real world would just stop hasslin' me
Do you?
Do you?
And me
Well, I wonder what it's like to be the head honcho
I wonder what I'd do if they all did just what I said (just what I said)
Well, I'd shout out an order
"I think we're out of this, man, get me some"
Boy, don't make me wanna change my tone
My tone
Yeah
Straight up, what did you hope to learn about here?
If I was someone else, would this all fall apart?
Strange, where were you when we started this gig?
I wish the real world would just stop hasslin' me
Please don't change, please don't break
'Cause the only thing that seems to work at all is you
Please don't change at all for me
To you and you, to me, yeah
Yeah
Straight up, what did you hope to learn about here?
If I was someone else, would this all just fall apart?
Strange, where were you when we started this gig?
I wish the real world would just stop hasslin' me
I wish the real world, would just stop hasslin' me
I wish the real world would just stop hasslin' me
To you and me
I took a drive down to Glen Affric today, I had hoped for frost and fog, but didn't get that combination. The clouds rolled in while I was on my way, so any decent light disappeared too.
Thankfully I managed to find a few nice frosty rocks for a more intimate short than I'm used to taking.
This image was taken in the North Pacific Ocean inbetween Maui in Hawaii and San Francisco in California
A quick roadside shot above Tyndrum a few years ago (another archive shot!)
How I missed this on the first two runs through the files I'll never know.
A small waterfall in Wales from s few weeks ago. There was a pair of Grey Wagtails zooming about with beak fulls of insects to a nest I could hear nearby,
