Had to share this joyous sight with you ! Yes, it's another rainbow (sorry!) but this time taken from my bedroom window this morning at 8.39 precisely ! If you look closely you can see it's actually a double rainbow. Soon the rain came and all my other pics were covered in raindrops and a bit blurry. The yellow thing sticking up on the left is a crane, by the way.

Processed in Topaz Impression 2, Soft Pastel at 50% opacity. Hope you like it - I was delighted to see it !

Have a lovely day everyone !

A rainbow is a meteorological phenomenon that is caused by reflection, refraction and dispersion of light in water droplets resulting in a spectrum of light appearing in the sky. It takes the form of a multicoloured circular arc. Rainbows caused by sunlight always appear in the section of sky directly opposite the sun.

A magical ending to sunset looking back east over Bryce Canyon.

Smartphone shot last week

Rot * Orange * Gelb * Grün * Hellblau * Indigo * Violett

Scheint die Sonne am Gewitter-Himmel, entsteht meist ein Regenbogen in diesen leuchtenden Farben (und zwar stets im "GegenLicht". und in der obengenannten Reihenfolge der

Farben.

Red * Orange * Yellow * green * light blue * Indigo * violet

If the sun shines in the thunderstorm-sky, usually a rainbow arises in these luminous colours (and always in the "backlight". and in the above order of Colors.

Secondary rainbows are caused by a double reflection of sunlight inside the raindrops, and are centred on the sun itself. The secondary rainbow is fainter than the primary because more light escapes from two reflections compared to one and because the rainbow itself is spread over a greater area of the sky. The dark area of unlit sky lying between the primary and secondary bows is called Alexander's band.

The bear brothers Wim and Freek went to the sea for a day to view ships. They were surprised by a beautiful rainbow

I was chasing a sunset this night and ended up catching a rainbow. I have a full one that I will post this week too taken on the same night. This is the appetizer :) With all the negative things going on in the world this rainbow for me was a reminder to me how wonderful the world can be.

June is Missoula's rainiest month, and correspondingly has the highest probability for seeing an afternoon rainbow. Fortunately, I had my new wide-angle handy with polarizer already attached and I was able to capture and admire this evening's display.

Niagara Falls, one of the world's most stunning Natural wonders, linked with the U.S. by the Rainbow Bridge. The photo was taken at sunrise, at the Canada side. We crossed the border quite often before COVID, now the border is closed. Not sure how long it will last...

Embrace the Rainbow in dreamy landscape of Skogafoss!

The majestic Skogafoss waterfall is located on the Skoga river in the south of Iceland.

Skogafoss is one of the biggest waterfalls in Iceland, with a width of 25 metres and a drop of 60 meters. There’s a lot of spray being generated by the waterfall and you can see a rainbow in the water when the sun is shining.

The very steep stairway to the right side of the Skogafoss waterfall lead to a hiking trail up to the Fimmvörduhals pass between the glaciers Eyjafjallajökull and Myrdalsjökull where you can see more of Iceland's phenomenal nature.

2nd shot of the unplanned encounter with the Rainbow, this shot was a much wider sweep than the first.

Rainbow over Rangitoto island on a stormy winter afternoon at Takapuna beach, in the northern suburbs of Auckland, New Zealand. Today is my father's birthday, and tomorrow is my mother's, even though they were born 2 years apart, their birthdays are only one calendar day apart each year, so I dedicate these photos to them, and mom has a landmark 70th tomorrow, I love you both Happy Birthday.

Yesterday's stormy weather brought a rainbow

Some of my Flickr friends may have noticed I've been pretty sporadic about posting and commenting the last 2 years. The reason is that I was pursing a second bachelor's degree, in nursing. I graduated in May and found out this last Thursday that I passed the boards. So it seems fitting that a rainbow signify the end of this quest. But to the right is a second rainbow forming, reminding me that there is still work to do. Nursing school was just the beginning, and I look forward to the next chapter.

Thanks for the views, comments and faves everyone!

On my recce for compositions for sunsets, arriving on the first top the Beacon I get caught in a shower. I wander off path to the cairn as the shower passes over and glance over my shoulder, quick a rainbow. Sack off, camera out, change to wide angle, check the settings, try to find a composition, oh and dial in the polariser, nothing to it.

Rainbow, seen from Stokes Hill Wharf, Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia, 2017

Looking at the rainbow outside my window, I couldn't resist capturing it. Immediately drove to park to capture it. Luckily the rainbow lasted for couple of minutes and was able to capture it on time. Hope u liked it.

This showed up a few days ago and I wanted to share it. Actually it was a double rainbow but I couldn't catch the second one very well from where I was standing.

I'm trying something new. Check out www.galevinephotos.wordpress.com if you have a minute and please let me know what you think.
