Freshly painted Union Pacific TR5 'Cow & Calf" No. 1875 shuffles a work train at 9th South in Provo, Utah on May 26, 1977.
Im Jahr 2009 existierte in Möhren noch die alte Brücke über Bahnstrecke. Mittlerweile wurde diese durch einen monotonen Beton-Neubau ersetzt.
Völlig unbeeindruckt davon, zeigt sich 113 309 mit einem IC von Nürnberg nach München. Damals teilten sich die Br 113 sowie die Br 103 diese IC Leistungen.
Übrigens hat die Lok bis heute überlebt und fährt nun als E10 1309 für AKE Eisenbahntouristik im weinrot-beigen Farbschema.
Soviel zum heutigen Ausflug in die Verganngenheit.

The railway bridge over the Kandagawa is the Soubu line (総武線) of JR East. The old uplifted railway track in the left is the Chuuou line (中央線) of JR East leading to Kanda (神田) and Tokyo stations. The space under the old railway girder is used for cafes and restaurants.
It's an acrobatic construction!
Both lines operate trains every several minutes.
This section of the Kandagawa is a canal constructed in the 17th century as part of Sotobori (外濠) or the outer moat of Edo Castle by the Date clan (伊達氏) from Sendai. The construction involved digging 20m to bisect the Surugadai hill.
The Date clan was a powerful Daimyou based in Sendai in northeastern Japan. They were not a relative nor a hereditary subordinate of the Tokugawa. Such local rulers were called Tozama Daimyou (外様大名) or the outsider Daimyou.
The Tokugawa shogunate often assigned large scale construction works in Edo to Tozama Daimyou to test their loyalty to the shogunate. It was also intended to weaken them with huge spendings for the construction works (^-^;
