Look carefully and you can see the small rodent this hawk has captured on the branch under its right foot & talon. I had not noticed this until I recently looked more closely at the image. I saw this hawk dropped down to the ground from 25 or 30 yards away in order to pick up this unlucky mouse or vole. Remarkable eyesight.

Also called the Tickell's Flowerpecker. The is India's smallest bird at barely 8 cm long. It is a highly active, plain greyish-brown bird recognized by its distinct downcurved, pale pinkish bill. Endemic to the Indian subcontinent, it is frequently found in Kerala's urban gardens and fruiting trees. The feature that separates it from other flowerpeckers is its stout, markedly downcurved, pale pinkish-horn bill. They feed primarily on nectar and berries. By eating these, the Pale-billed Flowerpecker acts as a vital seed disperser, making it an ecological linchpin for forest regeneration.
Wings of Morning Light
A Painted Lady butterfly (Vanessa cardui) opened its wings toward the morning sun, while grasses and branches remained part of its natural stage.
No studio, no perfect setup — just a real moment captured as nature offered it.
Photographed with a vintage Pentacon 100mm f/2.8 M42 lens and macro extension tubes on a Canon R7.
Sometimes nature does not ask for perfection.
It only asks us to pause and look.
Krila jutarnjeg svjetla
Clicked in its breeding plumage. The breeding bird is all white except for its dark legs, black bill with a yellow tip, and a yellow breast patch like a Pelican. It has a crest in the breeding season as clearly seen in this shot. Non-breeders lack the crest and breast patch, and immature birds have a pale bill and black tips to the primary flight feathers. This species is almost unmistakable in most of its range. Eurasian Spoonbills show a preference for extensive shallow, wetlands with muddy, clay or fine sandy beds
This is a common, long-legged wading bird of the Heron family, native to temperate Europe, Asia, and parts of Africa, often found near wetlands and coastlines where it hunts aquatic prey. The Grey Heron is closely related and similar to the North American Great Blue Heron, which differs in being larger, and having chestnut-brown flanks and thighs; and to the Cocoi Heron from South America, with which it forms a superspecies. They have the ability to live in cities where habitats and nesting space are available. They are often considered a significant pest of fisheries, causing damage to the population of valuable fish both in natural reservoirs and in ponds intended for the cultivation of cultivated fish species.
