Exact date and location unknown, but presumably Peleliu Airfield late 1944 to early 1945.

 

The photo comes from a grouping of photos which included several aerial photos of Peleliu Airfied.

 

R5C was the Navy designation for the Curtiss Commando, more commonly known under its USAAF designation C-46.

 

The only working lighthouse on the isla of Manhattan. Not the only one in the Borough of Manhattan, though. There is one on Roosevelt Island, used for navigation.
