I cannot overemphasize how essential it is that we show respect for the customs of people from foreign countries, and particularly people from different cultures and environments. (Quotable Eleanor 116)

Bought some quotable cards while in Atlanta, and rather than using them as cards, I decided to frame them.
This was the quote of the day amid the entertainment news on the concession stand tickers at the Century Theaters- the best seat for the 21st century.
I imagine this was the case at all of them which used the tickercom feed. This was taken in Walnut Creek, California on November 19th, 2007.

Today is the day. Live your life with abandon. Be courageous and wild at heart. Be your own hero. Follow your dreams no matter how big they are. Fall in love. Take time to appreciate the moments, for they will soon be memories. Be good to yourself. Be generous and truthful. Dance, sing and play no matter your age. Believe in your own power, strength and fortitude. Embrace new possibilities. Make friends everywhere you go. Inspire someone. Be brave. Take chances and be spontaneous. Discover your gifts and use them wisely. Surround yourself with love, laughter and truth. Don’t take it all too seriously. Forgive quickly and don’t hold grudges. Seek peace and calm. Learn something new every day. Create happiness. Laugh often. Enjoy the little things. Be gracious and kind. Smile at strangers, we’re on this journey together. This is your life… Make it beautiful.
Day 125-Today I watched Lethal Weapon which I dont think I see as often on people's Christmas movie lists as often as I see Die Hard. Def a classic and the one I watch is the Donner Director's Cut (like my Superman 2, MFers), mostly because there are added scenes, one in particular that def illustrates how far Riggs has fallen and its a shooter at a school (of all places) and he walks right up to the guy, who is behind a metal barricade on the second floor and shoots him. I mean, bullets bouncing off the ground...its surprisingly intense. Still always one of my favourite and most quotable movies.
at Digital Music Forum East. One of the quotables of the event: "People play what they don't buy and buy what they don't play."
I attended the 1:1 SIG meeting session and had the opportunity to introduce epic-ed to a number of folks from around the US and Sweden. Incoming President Greg Martin has invited epic-ed to offer a web conference. I'll also contribute a blog entry to their 1:1 Sig wiki:
An earlier session, Lessons Learned from the Front Lines of 1:1, Sam Farsaii, Irving ISD with Gregory Martin, Alice Owen and Karl Sprenger, a lively panel of experienced state, district, college, and single-school laptop program administrators, shared commonalities on how ubiquitous access enhances learning and teaching. Among the quotable quotes:
* Technology-based frosting doesn't make the cake taste better. The "goods" have to be immersed within the cake batter.
* Successful programs have regular showcase events for the community that highlight learning, not the technology.
* Don't try to use technology to solve issues created by technology. Look toward policy solutions. - Sam Farsaii, Irving ISD
* Technology amplifies both good and bad instruction.
* Unless you believe in the change possible with 1:1 computing, you won't change your practice. Sam Farsaii, Irving ISD
"The only normal people are the one's you don't know very well."
— Alfred Adler
