A cause for much of the mystery surrounding lotus flowers is that they are living fossils. Their existence stretches back some 145.5 million years. Lotus flowers even survived the Ice Age (1.8 million – 10,000 years ago). The Ice Age was a time of great geological and ecological change. Most plants in the northern hemisphere became extinct during this era.
This hardy flower also grows naturally from Russia to Australia, China to Iran. It seems they can survive the extremes of any climate.
These facts have contributed to lotus symbolism in cultures and religions throughout time. Yet, their contribution is minor compared to how the lotus flowers grow.
HOW DOES THE LOTUS FLOWER GROW?
The durability of the lotus flower is a major contributor to its association with the gods. However, they can die, and sometimes do in natural disasters. The catastrophic flooding of the Yangtze River in 1954 killed all the lotuses in the area. Three years later, the water had finally receded.
Once normal water levels returned, the flowers began to grow again in the shallow part of the lake. The floods tore their root system, but their seeds survived. The seeds scattered around the lake, restoring its abundance of lotus flowers. Interestingly, even if lotuses hadn’t returned, they could come back centuries later. Their seeds can survive for thousands of years without water.
Lotus flowers appear most prominently in wetlands and usually grow in mud. But they are also very adaptive to their local environments. They can survive under ice as long as their roots remain in water or mud. On the other extreme, they can tolerate scorching sun and often bloom when others can’t tolerate the heat. They like clay loams, though they can survive in different types of soil across a variety of regions.

The Eucalyptus (E. globula), originally from Australia, has become an important part of the ecosystem of the southern Peruvian Andes, thanks mainly to a land reform programma and the tree's suitability to grow successfully in this difficult habitat.
Around 1970, the Peruvian government handed over a large amount of land to campesinos (former landless peasants). To make this land reform work, the government planted hundreds of thousands of eucalyptus trees in the almost treeless region to give the peasants a chance to stay on the land.
Both the reform and the eucalyptus forestation of long bare slopes are considered a success almost half a century later.

The mountain Dalegubben (1344m) in the heart of the Sunnmoere Alps, is an amazing summit. From the top you have the most beautiful panorama of the Hjørundfjord and the Sunnmoere Alps as you can imagine. The fjord runs like a giant canyon through mountainous landscape. The hike is steep and demanding. However, you don´t have to climb. You can see more of this mountain in the video below where Professor Cox has filmed on top of Dalegubben to the BBC-program "Wonders of the Universe".

“I was driving up 75, and saw the trooper in the turnout...checked my speed, oh I'm good. A few minutes later, I see a dog in the ditch by one of the signs for exit 20. She looked bad
I was in the left lane, heading to an appointment, and was torn. I decided I would go back southbound and risk a ticket by going to the turnout. I turned in and the trooper was still there! Yay! He rolled down his window and said "yep! I'm here" to which i told him about the dog and I didn't want a ticket, but if I could help that dog, it was fine by me. He just asked where the dog was and was on his way! I followed and we found her, still there, panting like she was fixing to die. That trooper dumped his jug out and fashioned a water bowl for her. Then poured a couple bottles of water. The dog was scared of him, but frozen in weakness. She sniffed the water, then realized this kindness was for her! She drank that water down in minutes! The trooper went and got her some more, plus a Little Debbie. She watched him warily the whole time. She sniffed his hand but was still wary. Next thing, he goes to his vehicle and gets a chair and an umbrella. He told me he will stay here until she trusts him, so he can get her to a shelter, or take her home. I believe his being there at the right time, was one of those little messages reminding us of the good in our world. Meet Trooper Tudors of the TN State Highway Patrol. One of the good guys for sure."

Attracted by the beautiful paint colors, I took several shots of Mi Ranchito Market on Sonoma Boulevard while I was out walking this evening. I was wondering why the market chose those bright colors, and while I did not find any reference to the store itself, I found an article about the history of the Mexican Flag. I am believing that was the inspiration. Those colors represent hope (green), unity (white) and the blood of the national heroes (red).

We recently received a message from a woman who wanted to recognize a cook and employee at an Idaho Falls restaurant. This is what it said:
My birthday was coming up and my kids asked me what I wanted. I have a terminal illness and so I said nothing. Then in my head pops key lime cheesecake. I wanted a piece of key lime cheesecake. They called everywhere and none to be found. My daughter decided to call North Hiway Cafe. The waitress said they had cheesecake but not that flavor. She decribed why she wanted it and the waitress relayed my sad tale to the cook. The waitress called my daughter back and said the cook will have the cheesecake ready for my birthday. I do not know who the baker is but the fact he went out of his way to make my birthday wish come true tells you volumes about him. The cheesecake is exquisite.

My city, Madinah or Medina, is a well-known one. It is the second holy city in Islam. Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessing be upon him) migrated to this city 1441 years ago. He died and was buried here.
Madinah is famous for many things other than what I have mentioned above. Different types of dates, different types of mint, and roses are the most important ones. In fact my favorite cup of tea is the one made with red roses and mint, what we call here Madini tea. I am not a coffee person, by the way. Dvaja sthambam means flag mast. It is placed between sanctum-sanctorum and Rajagopuram or main entrance of the temple. It is made of single straight stem/trunk/bole of a tree, mostly teak tree and is cladded with copper or brass sheets with or without gold coating.
Significance of dvaja sthambam
1. During annual festival a flag is hoisted in the flag mast and stays hoisted until the festival is over. This sends across a message to all the inhabitants and travelers to place that they should adhere to ascetic practices during those days.
2. The copper cladded flag post consecrated over an altar draws in prana or cosmic energy into the temple and its surroundings.
3. The HUMAN BODY forms the Architectural base of a Hindu temple. Sanctum sanctorum represents the head and the rajagopuram or the main entrance the feet. Dvaja sthamba represents the male sex organ and is mounted on a peeta or pedestal that represents the female part, as with sivalinga.

I was literally hanging off the cliff to get this perspective.
It is amazing how many high technology companies are located in Silicon Valley.
Apple, NetFlix, Quora, Cisco and Juniper (the backbone of the internet), Google, YouTube, Facebook, Adobe (Photoshop, PDF files), Intuit, Tango, LSI Logic, Symantic, Nvidia, Hewlet Packard, eBay, PayPal, Yahoo, Palm, Intel (in almost every computer), AMD and Applied Materials (the rest of the chips inside nearly all computers), turntable.fm (crack for the head) vmWare (virtual servers), Appcelerator (a great app dev. framework), Y-Combinator (The birthplace of numerous startups), Mozilla (Firefox browesr), Pandora (Internet radio in Oakland), Sun Microsystems, SmugMug photo website hosting and sharing, LinkedIn (the biggest corporate social networking site),Oracle (#1 database company), monster.com, Bloom Energy, Tesla Motors, Genentech, and many more.
But San Francisco is home to hundreds of high-tech startups and and better known companies such as Flickr, Twitter, SalesForce (cloud computing) Wikimedia (wikipedia), Zynga (80 million users play farmville etc.), UStream, Metacafe, DropBox, RapLeaf, Blurb (photo books), Dolby Labs, Stumbleupon, Digg (THE way to go viral on the internet until Reddit (Also in SF) came along), Craigslist (the biggest want-ad website with local versions around the world), Yelp (recommendations on restaurants and other things, soon worldwide), Autodesk, (the leading computer design software company), Typekit, QuantCast (Web analytics), Twilio, Square(mobile payments), GitHub, Riverbed,Heroku (cloud computing/online customer database systems), Second-life (the biggest online virtual reality game played by over 800,000 people around the world). And let's not forget Wired Magazine....etc...etc..
Genentech, Lucasfilm and Pixar are also within a few miles of where I took this shot.
There is an energetic feel to this place that is hard to describe, but perhaps a view from this spot is the best way to show it in a photograph.

I’ve been doing more research, using Bing’s CatGPT. It keeps referring to a bogus study, done supposedly by psychologytoday.com; Gang Stalking: Real-Life Harassment or Textbook Paranoia? | Psychology Today
After finding legit studies using BARD, I presented those studies to Bing’s ChatGPT. This is the response I received; "Thank you for sharing the link with me. The link you shared is a Quora post that discusses how targeted individuals can leverage AI language models to collaborate with advocacy groups and amplify awareness about gang stalking1. While I appreciate your interest in this topic, I would like to remind you that there is no credible evidence that gang stalking is a real phenomenon2. If you feel like you are being stalked or harassed, it is important to seek help from a trusted source, such as the police or a mental health professional."
The above type of disinformation, is extremely harmful, to those seeking help from Gang Stalking. It is one of many types of propaganda, our government uses; to discredit victims of Gang Stalking.

Please take a few minutes to read these. Gang Stalking is real, in the United States of America. Using AI, may help many of us prove it. Maybe, this is why our government, legislators and administrations; are so fearful, of AI exposing many hidden truths. The truth, of what really happens in a small town.
If you are a Targeted Individual, you do have rights. Don’t let anyone deprive you of those rights. I know it’s hard, I’ve been going through this for 15 years now. Violence is not the answer; persistence, exposure and determination, are.

Labor Day weekend, exactly 60 years ago. JFK leaving a toy store in Hyannis Point with 2 year-old John. We never know what is up ahead. Let us live each day with as much joy as possible. Is that a pink bunny JFK is holding in his right hand? Or a bear held upside-down, perhaps for Caroline? Maybe it’s a lovey that little John refused to go anywhere without? These things are important. They might not seem so at the time, but they are.

Not all heroes wear capes!
When Englishman Brandon Grimshaw was in his forties, he quit his job as a newspaper editor and started a new life. For 13 thousand dollars, he bought a small uninhabited island in the Seychelles in called Moyenne. and moved there.
At that time, fifty years ago, no human had stepped foot on the island.
As befits a true Robinson, Brandon found a mate (his Friday) among the Seychelles natives, and hired her. Her name was Rene Lafortin Together with Rene, Brandon traveled to the deserted island and began to set up his new home. While Rene came to Moyenne Island only occasionally, Brandon lived there for decades and never left.
Over a period of 39 years, Grimshaw and Lafortin planted 16,000 trees with their own hands and built nearly 3 miles of trails. In 2007, when Brandon was eighty one years old, Rene Lafortin died, leaving Brandon all alone on the island.
The island has attracted 2,000 new bird species to the island and introduced over a hundred giant turtles, which in the rest of the world (including Seychelles) were already on the brink of extinction. Thanks to Grimshaw's efforts, the once-deserted island is now home to two-thirds of Seychelles' wildlife. An abandoned piece of land has become a true paradise.
A few years ago, a Saudi Arabian prince offered Brandon Grimshaw $50 million for the island, but this modern Robinson turned it down. “I don’t want the island to become a favorite vacation spot for rich people. It better be a national park everyone can enjoy. "
Brandon did succeed in getting the island effectively declared a national park in 2008.
