[22:04] Laurick Scarbridge walked forward from the bunker, his hands behind his back. He quirked a brow at what Summers was doing. The red head tilted his head, and started to walk up to the barrier, "This might not be necessary, that it is not. As for 002 there, she is of no concern. She is docile, sterile, neutered and without fray to engage in. In otherwords, she's not a threat, hrm? Well, not really anyhow. Not without others or weapons. She just enjoys dancing. Dancing mad. In either case, I have a clean fixture on the target, so I do hope you know how to pull that trigger more effectively than you've tried to here! Kwa hoo hoo hoo!"

[22:06] Summers kept his sight on the hybrid, hopeful that the doctor would come back with backup anytime soon. Hearing his maniac pitchy voice was a relief for the first time, the private eases his stance but doesn't turn for a salute, his gaze locked on the hybrid still "you sure sir?"

[22:06] Nadias Woller follows after Laurick, her hands nervoulsly gripping her weapon. This was the first time she etnered Midian proper, on foot. She gives the hybrid a glance, noting she wasn't wearing a collar. She sneers a little staying behind the others still.

[22:09] Fluffy Snoodle leaps away from them, making kissy faces to Laur as she did so. Her knew fox attributes showing clearly through her now. Her tails flicked together like mad, and what would like like sparks? sparkles? Would come drifting off of them, "Ah, The readhead." She'd coo as she walked away again, "Fire is what you must fear. Fire, flames. The sparks." She'd say wagging her tails lightly, they were green, a cool color. "Follow your heart, soldier." She'd say walking away, "Oh...and change your pants wouldja? I can smell you halfway across the ruins."

[22:11] Laurick Scarbridge tilted his head from left to right. The red head looked at Fluffy with a curious expression on his face, his hands wrapped behind his back. He leaned forward and grinned wildy, "An analogy, mayhaps? All the same, you're not of interest anymore 002, you're a borederline failed experiment, much like 001. You needn't worry about your place. In eithercase! Please do follow me, you two. We have to track this individual down, it will be most interesting. I do hope combat experience is in your ethos somewhere, or else you'll be quite dead, that you will be! Kwa hoo hoo hoo!" the Doctor cackled as he turned on his laurels sharply and walked the opposite direction from Fluff.

[22:13] Nadias Woller givesthe doctor an almost scared look as she began to follow after him, her boots clicking softly against the pavement as she moved. She didn't know what was going on, but this place made her quite nervous.

[22:13] Summers rested the rifle against his shoulder and snickered at the hybrid that walked away "cunning thing they are" with that he turns on his heels and gulps hearing the doctor once again "we going...sir? j-just d'three of us?"

[22:15] Laurick Scarbridge hopped forward on his feet as he moved forward. He turned his head to look back and shrugged his shoulders, his gun prevelent, "Don't worry! It can't be that dangerous. I've survived it, after all. Then again. I survived being blown up .. getting my arm shot off .. my legs blown off .. my skin scarred .. and ex-Captain Gruber punching me in the nose! Hrm. This might not bode well for you? But don't worry! If you do die, I will survive you and speak of your epic defeat! That I will."

[22:16] Laurick Scarbridge glances over at the signs, "Try not to step past those lines. Mines."

[22:16] Summers "uh...that's very...reassuring, sir" he mutters under his breath, the sight of Midian's ruins truely making his jaw drop

[22:19] Laurick Scarbridge reaches up and taps at his bottom lip as he stands there, tilting his head from side to side, "It's ping came from this direct area. We'll see. Hrm, you two, take up a line formation and moved forward up to the pillar. Look around the pillar and scout out the surroundings, hrm?

[22:19] Summers nodded and followed the orders "aye aye sir"

[22:20] Nadias Woller gives the doctor an unassured look as she she moved to follow Summers, her grip tightening on her gun as she sidled up to the pillar, looking acerfully around the edge.

[22:21] Summers scouts the area but doesn't find anything, he looks at the private over his shoulder and whispers "do you see anything?"

[22:22] Nadias Woller shakes her head silently at Summers, biting her lip nervously as she tried to keep her grip on the weapon, her sweaty palms making it harder.

[22:25] Summers steps carefully forward, something on the ground catching his gaze, the private holds a fist up telling Nadias behind him to stop

[22:26] Nadias Woller stops short when Summers raises up his fist, her eyes starting to dart around trying to find anything amiss and completely failing to see what Summers saw.

[22:26] Summers shouts to the doctor, his eye trained on the debris coated ground before him "I see boobytraps sir!"

[22:28] Laurick Scarbridge reached up and tapped at the side of his mouth as Summers shouted. The red head smacked his com system, "Private? Please use the com system, so that you do not alert the target to our presence. Which you have likely already done. Now, do hold position, I'll move out now, hrm?"

[22:29] Summers taps his com, eyes rolling at the big fail he'd just made. That would have him shot by a Marshal in bootcamp that was for sure "aye aye sir" he whispers in reply

[22:33] Nadias Woller tilts her head to the side as she kept trying to scan the area. She moved from foot to foor nervously, before forcing herself to relax. It wasn't really that bad, she hoped. She glanced from side to side, very slowly still trying to see if anything new would pop up.

[22:33] Laurick Scarbridge wrinkled his nose slightly as he stood there. He glanced at the booby traps that were lain in front of the trio. He tilted his head from side to side and leaned forward, a large grin on his full lips, "I do believe we caught the individual off guard, that I do! Oh where it might be," he said, raising his right hand up slightly as he glanced upward and then toward Fluffy who was wandering through as he was looking. His hand was still outstretched at the moment, and a brow was quirked, "Hrm. Perhaps something different.. if we caught it off guard, then it likely moved to the next nearest location! Which is of course .. up."

[22:35] Damienn Kiranov keeps in a low position as he walks along the blown out roof of a building, while it was hard to be sneaky in his heavy armor and gear, he was confident that enough noise was made to distract his pusuers. When Laurick had raised his hand up, it seemed as good an opportunity as anything else. DK would then take his chainsword off of his back, and alert them to his presence as he revved it up, jumped off, and made a swing for Laurick's outstretched arm.

[22:37] Summers heard the cyborg's movements and the chainsaw being swung twards the doctor "sunuva!" he barks out squeezing the trigger lightly, three loud bursts of fire shooting out of his rifle and towards the mechanoid, the private had a good aim and made sure he wouldn't fire anywhere near the scientist, perhaps the first bursts would be warning shots.

[22:37] Nadias Woller blinks in surprise at Laurick's words before she began to tilt her head upwards just as the man revved up the chainsaw. Fighting the urge to scream, she brought her gun up, her finger hovering over the trigger before the man jumped down. She lets out a shot after the man leaps, more then likely completely missing him before she tries to bring her aim back down and trying to follow him as he moved. Damn, she missed her ship.

[22:40] Damienn Kiranov took a few hits in his vest from the shots. He was prepared this time, with full kevlar armor. Though he was missing his weapons of choice this time. He kept swinging at Laurick with his sword, and pulled one of his SMGs with his right hand.

[22:41] Laurick Scarbridge kept his right hand outstretched. He blinked momentarily and watched as DK flew down from the ruins as if he were some sort of cyber knight. The red head glanced at his arm, as the sharp sensation of the chainsaw ripping into his skin .. and then through the bone .. and then out the other side shot through his body. Blood almost immediately started to splurt from the now nubby right arm. The Doctor looked at the wound, and quirked a brow. His hand was laying on the ground in a bloody pool, his fingers twitching as if they were playing a keyboard. The Doctor stood there, and shivered - then immediately after started to laugh wildly. He'd moved away from DK, not even a frantic walk, just a walk. The Doctor turned around afterward and looked at his arm all the same .. still just cackling.

[22:43] Damienn Kiranov: "Aw shit... Man's a goddamn freak..." Was all he cared to mutter as he focused on the two raw troops in front of him.

[22:44] Summers felt even more terrified by the doctor's reaction to the gory B movie wound than by the mech's actions. "HOLY FUCK!" he barks out, stepping backwards and firing at the mechanoid to slow him down in steady bursts: first for his chainsaw wielding arm, then the other, than his legs in a random pattern. The poor private was going the wrong way mind you, since there were a shitload of boobytraps behind him and inches from his heels

[22:45] Fluffy Snoodle sits there literally munching on cookies as she watched the scene go on down below. Yeah, that soldier needed some Depends or something.

[22:46] Damienn Kiranov wasn't gonna stand and take these bullets while he had... for once, a perfectly serviceable piece of cover behind him. He would do a backwards roll towards the pillar behind him, then duck behind it. He took a few more bullets, but his armor had kept him unharmed, for now...

[22:48] Nadias Woller's eyes widen as the hand comes off, falling backwards herself as her finger automatcially presses the trigger in the general direction of the cyborg, not really aiming at the moment, just completely panicked. When the man ducks behind the pillar, she finally has something new to focus on, her finger coming off the trigger. Taking in a deep breath, she began to sidestep, trying to peer around the pillar.

[22:52] Damienn Kiranov could tell who the real trouble was gonna be. So he fired a short 3 round burst towards Summers after he took aim from behind his cover. Seemed a great moment to taunt Laurick. "Goddamn, Doctor! You bring these fucking inexperienced Boots after me? I should be insulted!"

[22:54] Laurick Scarbridge continues to laugh as he looked at his arm. Eventually, he stopped laughing, and reached up to tap himself on the chest with a balled up left hand. He just coughed a few moments and shook his head. The blood was still spurting out of the wound quite nicely. The red head reached down toward his belt line, and pulled one of the grenades off of it. He looked at it for a few moments, but did nothing, his attention drawn by the blood spurting from his arm once more, "I wonder, which is more important? This is a curious question indeed." When Kiranov started to talk, the Doctor quirked a brow, and shrugged his shoulders. Blood spurted out at a greater speed when he pressured the artery. "Hrm, perhaps my injury takes precedence."

[22:55] Summers sidestepped in a 80 degree curve trying to peer around the pillar as well. He tried to pin down the GHOST along with Nadias in a skilled maneuver, his aim steady at his target before him while he quickly pushed the goggles down to have an infrared view of the situation. "you okay sir?!" he asks over his shoulder, a stupid question for that matter, the crazy doctor seem fine enough. The shots fired his way were somewhat expected and he rolls to the side trying to avoid them once the mech aimed his way. The private wasn't fully successful and took two rounds to the right thigh "FUCK!" he barks out firing at the mech with little pattern or aim

[22:59] Damienn Kiranov steps back away from Summers to avoid his fire. This put him in line of site with the girl of the group, whom he'd waste no time firing another burst of 4.3 at. He felt now was a good time to state what should've been obvious. "Hey Doc! You fucked up! Whenever you try to track me, I feel it. Double-edged thing my creators made for me! Another odd thing, is that I set up here for good reason. This is Catwalker turf, and they don't like your kind here!"

[23:01] Fluffy Snoodle and now its raining fluffies. She'd fall from the ruins above, landing right above where the two men stood, her gun was unholstered and she was ready. ANd the blood spirting out was a dead giveaway, "Might I correct you, this Pack territory."

[23:02] Nadias Woller flinches back as the bullets bounce into her armor, knocking her down. Letting out a sharp gasp, she tried to bring her focus back at the sudden burst of pain, not really expecting to feel pain through the armor. She curls up into herself for a long moment before trying to get her elbow under her, flipping onto her side so she could aim a couple of rounds at the cyborg, letting out a small burst of fire.

[23:07] Damienn Kiranov took a few rounds of the 5.56 the M4 fired in his his vest, but one went through, as evidenced by the blood slowly showing. It didn't do much to stop him, though, as he would continue firing some rounds at Nadias. Despite wanting to use his new sword toy, he dared not leave his cover just yet.

[23:09] Fluffy Snoodle looks DK and hangs over the edge of the rubble, her gun pointing towards Laurs head, "Hey there again, hun. How I've missed you so." She'd tease, though her voice was oddly calm, snobby in a way. "Awp, looks like someone had a boo-boo." She said looking towards his arm.

[23:16] Summers had little time to bother about the hybrid, his leg bleeding in a constant flow and the doctor plus private pinned down and wounded. it looked like it was time for Dan to save the day, the private sidesteps in a limpish manner till he had the back of the mech's head in his sight, the private would crouch and squeeze his trigger to fire his rifle till he was out of bullets, his aim ever steady

[23:21] Nadias Woller fires again, her eyes squeezing shut as she sees the man pull the trigger again at her. The recoil from the gun kicks in her hand, jerking her elbow into her side as she lay on the ground, then another push at her arm as a bullet catches her wrist, driving her arm back further. It felt like she was in slo mo, as a second one hits her shoulder and the last one smacks into the ground behind her. She tries to fire at the man again, her eyes still screwed shut, aiming in the man's general direction.

[23:24] Damienn Kiranov takes a bullet in the back of his head, causing him to reflexively dive forward, causing more bullets to go in his shoulders. As he landed on the ground, he stopped moving. There was blood coming from the back of his head, but it's not spurting out as would be typical of such a wound.

[23:26] Fluffy Snoodle looks over to DK and groans, shit. Fluffy would move her arm quickly to fire into Laurs um..good shoulder as the recoil almost jams her arm from this position. "Call your men off or you and you're friends here are going to die today in these ruins she growled out, falling to get a better position.

[23:29] Laurick Scarbridge pondered his options for the time being. Then Fluff hopped down and shot him in the good shoulder. He looked over at the wound and blinked. Blood rolled from his shoulder now. He raised his left hand up and the mechanical arms clicked as they normally should. He shrugged his shoulders, and move blood spurted out - likely on Fluff. He moved his hand down toward the beltline, and plucked the grenade from it. His legs started to feel a little numb, this was a side effect. His mechanical left hand seemed to roll the grenade in its palm as he stood there. He didn't have much else to do. The Doctor looked at the recruits for a few moments and then leaned at an awkward angle forward, tilting his head from side to side. "Well, this isn't pleasant. At least, I don't think it is. Well, it's rather unhappy, really. Perhaps. Actually! I'm quite excited, so, I just lied! Kwa hoo hoo hoo! This feels fantastic! Thank you for the marvelous scar and wound that will no doubt follow me for the rest of my life! I'll remember you like I remember the shotgun whore! Oh my. This won't be pleasant. I do recommend that everyone that has mechanical parts in their body run away. Wait, no, that would be me too! Well, everyone with parts that they don't want blown up that is! Now.. do be a good grenade and work?" the red head said as he brought the grenade up and pulled at the pin with his teeth - his eyes trained on Fluffy with his blue eye's brow arched in a peculiar manner, that familiar grin on his lips.

[23:33] Summers kept his aim on the fallen mech, he panted and breathed heavily, blood still pouring down his thigh in a thinner flow now, he wasn't sure the GHOST was dead but he was sure of one thing, it was time to retreat and regroup "orders sir?!" he barks out while reaching for a new magazine and replacing it for the empty one. A quick click and the private would have the robot in his aim again. He then heard the doctor's monologue with a hint of a "huh?" The private would drop his stance to start running towards the street, well, limping even. Summers would probably still be within the blast radius when the damn thing exploded, thanks Doc, really jeez...thanks very much

[23:38] Nadias Woller frowns as the cyborg suddenly goes down and she props herself up on her good elbow and slowly uncurls. She gives the cyborg a wary look as she stared at him, vaguely hearing the words around her through a haze of pain as she crawled to her knees. She began to push herself to her feet, leaving her gun behind before Summers starts to limp by. Something finally clicks in her head, and she turns around to run as well, heading to the streets and hoping not to become a cinder or something.

[23:41] Damienn Kiranov had heard Laurick talking to his grenade, as well as the reaction of the other Marines. He'd mutter to himself as he scrambled behind the pillar he used as cover, "Damn it... Can't even use a good feint..." He would avoid the worst of the frag from the grenade, but he'd definitely be hurtin' for the next few days.

[23:43] Fluffy Snoodle shoves her gun in the holster and glares to Laur before realizing that he actually pulled the pin, "You -IDIOT- She'd scream out. We're already in the middle of the ruins, do you want this to fall in on all of us?" Oh wait - he didn't care. She'd screech and look back to DK, hopfully getting a reassuring look from him as she took off. Fast and agile as a real fox would be.

[23:45] Laurick Scarbridge's eyes drifted to the side as the other marines seemed to believe that fleeing was the best option. It might have been the fact that his own wires were a little miscrossed when it came to pain and pleasure, but all the same, their reaction seemed a little peculiar to him. He blinked at that. Then looked over at the Cyborg that ducked behind cover. His attention moved to Fluff as she screeched something about something. His tongue slipped from his lips as he finally tugged the pin from the grenade. He tilted his head from side to side, and pondered throwing it toward those that had run. Instead, the red headed Doctor tossed the grenade to his right as hard as he could. Right into the UAC's minefield. This might end up being rather sparkly. The red head turned his head to watch the reaction of the mines to a grenade being setoff in their vicinity. Hopefully it wouldn't bring the entire ruins toppling down on them. "Ooh! Kwa hoo hoo hoo! Idiot, am I? Idiot savant maybe!"

[23:49] Laurick Scarbridge tilted his head to the side as he watched. The grenade popped. The buildings around them all started to shake as the ground itself seemed to react. The dirt the vicinity of the mine-field started to kick up like it was a bubbling crude. They'd struck oil, damn it! Explosive, firey, oil that had every intention of doing absolutely nothing but ripping at the ground underneath of the ruins. The ruin nearest to the bunker started to creak .. leaning slightly more toward the bunker than it had before. The ground itself was now barren .. black .. and a giant series of black holes. Laurick stood there, his hands .. hand, behind his back, tilting his head from side to side, "Hrm. Interesting." Squirt.

[23:51] Damienn Kiranov didn't waste any time after ground zero of splodey stuff, and started running towards Fluff's direction. Seemed the only sensible option, really.

[23:51] Summers was about to go though the dirty linen once the bomb(s) (didn't) exploded, the shockwave from the blast pushing his limp body forth and towards the fence that faced him "GNNNFFFECK!" he barks out in a yelp, hitting the fence just to look back seconds after...it didn't...go off?? what the fuck? "what the..."

[23:52] Fluffy Snoodle didn't either and she took off straight for the den, it was safe there, too far to get any reaction and nothing overhead, "This way!" She'd cry out, running from anything and dodging whatever would fall from the sky at this point.

[23:54] Nadias Woller stumbles forward as she gets hit by the shockwave, her balance already precarious as she lands facefirst on the dirt before the fence. She curls up again as bits of debris knocked loose from upper levels of the building pelted to the ground before, bits of metals, rotted plaster and god knows what else raining down, thunking against her armor and helmet.

[23:57] Laurick Scarbridge stood there for a moment as the debris fell around him. Squirt. He glanced over at his arm which was now bleeding on the metal wall beside him. The Doctor reached up with his only remaining hand and tapped at his bottom lip, "That might have been a bad idea. I don't know, hrm. Though, I should .." he shook his head, not finishing his monologue of thought for once. The red head turned on his laurels and started to walk away from the scene - moving to step over whatever had fallen around him. He hopped over a bit of metal, more debris, shells and left a trail of blood squirting behind him. The red head pursed his lips as he walked, starting to whistle to himself. The Major might have a bit of a problem with this one.

PERKS & QUIRKS:

2nd gen MBT

Gun: 120mm (+1)

Armor: M60/T-62 (+0)

Speed: 80km/h (+1)

Ices Up: -1

Poor Dismount Layout: -1

Ah, the Super Sphinx... that was a good tank. *Sips*

But not quite good enough.

While the original Sphinx MBT had been developed late in the aftermath of the second global war, its introduction came somewhat behind that of most others of its class. Before its upgraded successor the Super Sphinx was even introduced, an entirely new design had been planned since the late 50's. The Osirian Army's Tank Crafting Administration had awarded contracts to famed automotive manufacturers Sekhem, Seshan, and Uraeus to help with the designing and manufacturing of the vehicle, seeing how productive previous forays into the Osirian private sector have been. This turned out to be a huge step in the right direction, according to defense analysts.

Many of the problems of the previous Sphinx were solved in addition to the numerous advantages the new design was able to offer. First of all, the auto giants were able to convince the Army to make a "normal" tank for once, at a relatively normal size compared to its contemporaries. It however retained the same armor strength, and added a new Royal Arms 120mm smoothbore cannon (that one extra millimeter matters a lot). A completely brand-new engine was offered by Sekhem to trade a bit of speed for efficiency, which was probably the hardest thing to convince the Army into, but still the tank remains faster than many of its contemporaries. Overall, the vehicle is much more conventional, more reliable, deadlier, and safer... for the most part. It still has the typical Osirian issue of a distinct lack of proper hatches for the driver. At this point becoming an Osirian tank driver is known for requiring awareness of the potential hazards of the occupation. Maybe that's why they drive so fast...

The Osirian Army officially ordered its production batch of Sphinx II tanks in 1968. However, its entry into service was delayed due to the "favorable" performance of the Super Sphinx, with its superior speed. Slowly, over the years, with much pushing from the private sector, one by one the Sphinx II battalions were activated. It would take an otherworldy demonic invasion to give the Army the kick in the ass it needed to throw the vehicle into full combat service, where it essentially blew the Super Sphinx out of the water, outliving the vast majority of them during the first year of the conflict. Unfortunately, with the decade soon to come to a close, the Sphinx II may have a shorter service life than its contemporaries, but the Army intends for it to serve in great numbers for many years longer aside the Super Sphinx mk. II before the next generation of Osirian armor emerges from the land of the shining sands.

The Quirk Mansion is one of the most interesting historic homes in Ypsilanti. The home was built by Daniel Lace Quirk about 1860 in Second Empire style with mansard roof. Quirk's children donated the house to the city of Ypsilanti in 1911, and it served for several years as the City Hall. The mansion is presently used as private offices and the property owners reside in apartments on the top floor. This sturdy tree on the grounds of the First Presbyterian Church presented a fine foreground to the scene. Other historic photos may be seen here

"hello there" is what you might call a wordmark for the Quirk Hotel. Set in the hotel's widely used pink color, here it serves as the face of an all-round general purpose room for the hotel. At camera left is Quirk Gallery, the hotel's gift shop. The hotel's main entrance is off-camera left.

Now that this semester is over I can finally work on/post/send out photos that I owe people. There's no post-class freedom involved.

The Apocalust photos are taking a back burner. Hopefully I can get through my queu of overdue photos this week.

One of my many quirks is that I don't like for my knees to touch when I sleep, so I sleep with a pillow between my legs.

TRF ........ Anywhere I sleep my leg pillow goes with me. As a teenager I was teased at slumber parties cause I had to have "something between my legs to sleep"...........lol

RD14789. Among the numerous weird and wonderful devices to be seen at the Ffestiniog Railway's 'Quirks & Curiosities II' gala weekend was SAMSOM, a recreation of the original locomotive of this name built by Stephen Lewin in Poole in 1874.

It was built for the London Lead Company's Cornish Hush lead mine in Co. Durham. It only had a short working life operating over a one mile long tramway until the mine closed in 1904. It was of unusual design resembling a traction engine with crankshaft and flywheel drive.

The original was 1ft 10in gauge, but this replica built at the Beamish Openair Museum, is 2ft gauge which mean that it can make guest appearances on other railways. The Beamish recreation was produced from one photograph and two engravings of the original.

During the Festiniog's 'Q&CII' gala weekend it was on display and steaming up and down in Minffordd Yard.
