The Festive Chapeau is a pointed fantasy hat with ornamental embellishments and the choice of festive decor or a feather pin. Included is a HUD with nine hat colors in silver and gold, two feather colors and silver and gold options for the bells/pin.
Sécheron needed around 1919 urgently a new drive / gear transmission system for their offered electrical locomotives.
They licensed the Westinghouse Quill drive. But this was not enough. The engineers improved the drive significantly and patented it as Sécheron drive. The Sécheron drive has much smaller wheels, as the springs are differently arranged.
It was - similar to the Buchli drive a single axle drive, but with a much smaller motor closely attached.
The visible distinction are the springs arranged around the wheel to adapt to bolt to the gear box.
The springs were also the weak point. Due to the high mechanical action, they had not such a long life. BLS improved the drive in their own offices to become more reliable.

Unusual cloud formation from the back door of my place.
The hedgehog in this picture is a regular visitor to our garden, and I decided to add a quilled hedgehog to the design, created using fringed paper strips.

A few weeks ago, a friend and I were talking about pastimes that can be done with little space required that did not involve computers. I mentioned my Christmas bauble beading. She felt that this was my preserve, so I mentioned quilling to her, which was a former pastime of mine.
Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. It is a fun, simple and very cathartic pastime to have. However like beading or embroidery, it takes patience as you will have to roll many a quill to make a splendid picture.
This year the FFF+ Group have decided to have a weekly challenge called “Snap Happy”. A different theme chosen by a member of the group each week, and the image is to be posted on the Monday of the week.
This week the theme, “colourful” was chosen by Andrew, ajhaysom.
The conversation I had with my friend inspired me to make a few quills out of some of the colourful craft paper I have in my home.

I sort of like how it adds a bit extra to your personal environment, and it worked well as a backdrop of sorts too.
This use to be something designers did often, but you don't see animated frames as much anymore.
Sort of like a lost art, in a way. Phased out with time.
