The long-tail boat, used to carry passengers on a river may include a lightweight long canoe hull, up to 30 metres. They are not the quietest or most comfortable boats to travel in but usually the cheapest and most fun.
"It is where the lake is deepest that it is quietest.
"Go into the deepest part of yourself and you too will find calm and peace."
"C’est à l’endroit où il est le plus profond que le lac est le plus calme."
"Entre au plus profond de toi et tu trouveras aussi le calme et la paix."
Devote one hour at the dusk, (like we did at 5 AM, during your sleepless vacation), to tour around the park, right off the campground! Meandering between the mound give you an amazing views in the Badlands, where you can be were blown away by this quietest place on earth, when you even cannot hear a cricket. The scenery is absolutely incredible, and image to be greeted by this surreal panorama of hoodoo mounds. You are touched by the sun kissing the hills, incredibly soft light creating stunning crevices on the side hills! This is a perfect time for a hike, when no mosquitoes are hunting you, so you can venture freely.

The lesser photographed part of Horseguards Parade taken from St James`s Park London. I like the red bricks & all those windows! In spite of the lovely weather the park was the quietest I have ever known it!
It's 15 minutes and two laps for you to make as many photos as possible. Yes, the ferris wheel is the quietest ride and with the most privileged view of Rock in Rio. It's 360º. Just don't get so excited. It is not allowed to stand in the cabin and the acrylic windows disturb the photos. The way is to enjoy the cracks between the windows for barrier-free photos.

“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.”
― Charles W. Eliot
I always called books my friends, but over the years I neglected them because I was too busy doing other things and so distracted that I couldn’t focus on them anymore.
I will try to change that again.

Poësia : In the quietest moments
There is within us, as here on Poësia, places of great silence,
Places where, whoever knows how to listen, will recognize the three primordial sounds of our origins ...
... The deep voice of the sea, unique and universal
... The whisper of the rain
... and the rustling of the wind in the natural woods.
As here in this impenetrable forest, so dense that the light itself must be invited to enter!
Nevertheless in these mysterious forests live so many spirits and mythical characters invented by the human imagination to personify heroes and courage, mystery and wisdom, good and evil, fear and joy, love and hate.
So maybe ... these places of great silence, will bring us back to our origins, and we will find one day the capacity to invent another way of inhabiting our planet ... with respect.

One of the quietest places on earth.
I hope you will take a minute to view this in Large.
Thank you so much for your visit!
Yesterday was so lovely that I took a drive down to Shorncliffe and Sandgate. Being the tail end of school holidays, this was the
quietest place I visited. With the daytime temperature hovering around 22 degrees Celsius, it was almost hard to believe it is the middle of Winter in Queensland.
My beloved old dog, Shasta, was put to sleep on December 26. Please allow me some time to deal with her absence.

The path leading out to the lake offers the perfect spot for quiet thought. The lone tree and its perfect reflection are a powerful reminder of how much beauty can be found in a moment of stillness.
I spent a wonderful hour here, simply watching the water. Sometimes the most beautiful views are the quietest. Hope you find a moment of peace today.

Glen Clova is one of the quietest areas of the Cairngorms National Park. A single track road with a dead end, there is only one way in and one way out by car! This is a great place to escape to for relaxation, beautiful scenery, wildlife and amazing walking routes.
The scenery starts as open grazing land and as you journey further along the glen the mountains become more dominant and dramatic as you reach the end of Glen Clova up to Glen Doll. At Corrie Fee there are some dramatic cliffs and water falls. Walk along the fee burn or picnic by the River South Esk.
There are some amazing walks in Glen Clova. You can start at the ranger base at Glen Doll at the top of Glen Clova, an area of steep hills, corries and Munros and make your way up to Corrie Fee, an amazing natural amphitheatre. There are lots of trails to choose from, alpine plants to spot which arrived during the last ice age and if you are really lucky you can see golden eagles overhead. Jock’s Road, a drove road of 20km is one of the best known long distance routes in the area and takes you from Glen Doll up and over a high plateau to near Ballater. Tales of cattle thieves and whisky smugglers who travelled the road abound. It is said in 1746, some 700 Highlanders took the route on the way to the battle of Culloden.

... you can hear the sound of snow melting.
As a life long resident of New York City it is often difficult to find a place where the sounds of the city completely disappear. Such a place does exist on Staten Island, especially after a snow storm.

A portrait of my beloved Jasper who left this world six years ago to the day on 11th November 2016.
He wasn't just a handsome boy on the outside but he was, though often aloof, as soft as his fluffiness on the inside too. One of his many nicknames was 'Meester Floffy' which for some unfathomable reason was always said with a terribly stereotypical, yet light-hearted, Mexican-style accent.
He didn't come for cuddles but he did love to be cradled belly-side up or pinned down for a quick cuddle. He was adorably cute and mischievous as a kitten, eating all of my non-toxic precious indoor palm trees. He was incredibly gentle with the quietest squeak of a meow as an adult. He never scratched or bit me once, unlike Archie where it is an everyday occurrence.
You had to bury your head into Jaspers fur just to hear his soft and gentle purr and I miss him every single day.
Jasper... a £20 cattery long-haired moggy that was beautiful, gentle, enormous and long-lived. He was one of a kind.
A sunny late summer day on one of the many volcanic lakes in the Eifel. The Immerather Maar is one of the quietest and most tranquil lakes in the Eifel, surrounded by pure nature and far from any buildings.

Ein sonniger Spätsommertag an einem der vielen Vulkanseen in der Eifel. Das Immerather Maar ist eines der ruhigsten und beschaulichsten Seen in der Eifel, umgeben von purer Natur und fern von jeder Bebauung.
It's always quietest after one of those old nuclear plants explode, before the looting that is. The humans always gasp and scatter, those who are lucky enough to be out of range will have enough time to crawl into their bunkers and panic rooms.
Flit watches the sky light up and billow smoke clouds into the sunset, it's rather pretty if it weren't so destructive. There goes Sector 6.

"January is the quietest month in the garden. ... But just because it looks quiet doesn't mean that nothing is happening. The soil, open to the sky, absorbs the pure rainfall while microorganisms convert tilled-under fodder into usable nutrients for the next crop of plants. The feasting earthworms tunnel along, aerating the soil and preparing it to welcome the seeds and bare roots to come."

The Muse's Mirror.
Early one day, the Muse, when eagerly bent on adornment,
Follow'd a swift-running streamlet, the quietest nook by it seeking.
Quickly and noisily flowing, the changeful surface distorted
Ever her moving form; the goddess departed in anger.
Yet the stream call'd mockingly after her, saying: "What, truly!
Wilt thou not view, then, the truth, in my mirror so clearly depicted?"
But she already was far away, on the brink of the ocean,
In her figure rejoicing, and duly arranging her garland.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
Goodbye to North West Scotland for a while and back to South Wales today to greet Storm Freya. It's been the calmest quietest week I've ever known in Scotland, perfect for my reflective journey. Fallen Peaches is by The Handsome Family . Just travelling from the Lakes to Bridgend via Taunton, then back to the coast to see what skies and seas are waiting.
p.s. I managed to recover my lost photos of Suilven from my camera's memory card thanks to help from my brother . All's well that ends well . Celebrated with too much wine and winning at Cranium with my neice Sasha.
