Photo showing Johan Bollen (BE/US) during THE BIG PICTURE-Symposium - Overview Effect.

SEED has put together the opening session. The point of departure is the proverbial Overview Effect triggered by the appearance in the mass media of the first pictures of our planet taken from outer space. Thus, the subject here is the role of pictorial media in forming, imparting and propagating images of the world as well as the question of which visualization techniques we can utilize in our efforts to understand, depict and get across the complex interrelationships of our time.

The Postcard

A postally unused Oilette Teddy Bear Series postcard that was published by Raphael Tuck & Sons, Art Publishers to Their Majesties the King and Queen.

The card, which has a divided back, was printed in Bavaria.

Raphael Tuck

Raphael Tuck and his wife started their photography business in 1866 in London. Their store sold pictures, greeting cards, and in time, postcards.

Their success came from the sale of postcards during the late 1890’s and early 1900’s. In the early 1900’s the firm conducted postcard competitions for collectors of Tuck postcards. These competitions offered cash prizes, and they were very popular.

The winner of one of these competitions had a collection consisting of over twenty-five thousand cards.

Three of Tuck’s four sons participated in the business. The company was devastated by German bombing during World War II. In 1959 the company merged with two other printing companies.

OK, my lovely flower friends, this is a rubbish shot, but can anyone tell me what it is? And is it a 'flower' or a weed?

New photos will be added to this album over time as I process them! If you don’t see yourself, check back as I expect to end up with 300-400 photos!

I have about 1,600 photos - this will get edited down to about

300 to 400 final photos which I will post primarily on Flickr, but also many on my Instagram page at instagram.com/coldstreams

I asked permission to take photos in almost all cases, and in all photos where I was aware of a child in the photo, I asked permission to take the photo and

post here.

I did not ask permission for many group photos, where poses were being done for

photos, assuming that taking those photos was implied okay. If you have any questions please message me through my Flickr page. Thank you!

Some times I included photos of both front and back because often times cosplayers have created something elaborate on the back side - and they never get to see what

it looks like!

This is the first time that I've seen one of these beauties. Maybe it's going to be a good year for butterflies.

The blossom looks like blackthorn, but I'm not entirely sure about that. The name "Question Mark" comes from a distinctive white mark on the underside of the wing that looks absolutely nothing like a question mark imho.

Ok guys, I got two questions:

-1. Where can I order Lego Call of Duty Ghosts mask minifig head?

-2. Where can I order cheap, decent quality brickarms?

BTW

If you can only answer one, it would help a ton. You don't have to answer both.

QUESTION QUI DÉRANGE N° 3 :

Dans une société dont les valeurs sont basées sur la seule notion de profit, n'est-il pas sage de faire piétiner par un rhinocéros l'enfant qu'on élève, avant qu'il ne nous coûte de l'argent ?

Kauai is without question Hawaii's hidden gem, and one of the most remarkably gorgeous destinations in all of the Pacific.

I have to give a huge thank you to the Kauai Visitors Bureau for hosting, and to McNeil Wilson Communications for putting together a brilliant itinerary.

Too old for ambulance chasing? No need if you're an on the nose politician and there's an election looming! The ambulances will chase you.

Every ambulance I've seen lately has a political message, a protest, scrawled on a window. This was the first one I saw, so I had to stop for a closer look!
