Two questions, very basic ones and I stared at the keyboard long enough for me to realize that there isn’t much going on in my head. Okay, what makes me happy? I’m happy when I wake up ahead of my alarm clock, and get to receive good morning texts from those I love the most. That push to start the day right. I’m happy when I get to see the faces of my family; smiling, contented with what life has to offer. When my grandfather still recalls something about me, that Alzheimer’s Disease can’t get in the way with those precious memories that we’ve shared. New books, those new pages that are waiting for me to touch…discover, flip through and devour. Unexpected hugs: comforting hugs, hugs behind the back, welcome back hugs…that kind of embrace that passes one human warmth to another. People who remembers my birthday not because Facebook notified them but because they know it by heart. Sunsets and sunrise, the color dance of the sky day in and day out, good music, old toys, butterflies, caring friends. And most importantly those long walks and having to hold the hand of that someone I want to be with for the rest of my life.

So what makes me sad then? I would love to say nothing, but that’s a lie.

Friends that have suddenly became strangers in a blink of an eye. Unkept promises, when you hoped that they will. Being forgotten. Not doing the things I desired to do the most and being left with all the what ifs in the world. Knowing I’m not worth to know any of the truth or being the last one to know. Seeing kids cry. Realizing I’m the reason of someone else’s sadness, having to say words that I should have not or not saying the words that I should when in the long run it could have changed everything. Death, grief and pain.

But what’s the point of all those sadness, when I can choose to be happy?

(This would have been legit if that’s me in the photo, yet I’m not fond of taking photos of myself…Got tagged to do 5 things that make me happy and sad, this is my take on it, your turn…)

Lunar Crown and Pleiades

The photograph, taken on the evening of January 20th from the city of Arras, after a significant snowfall in northern France, reveals a remarkable celestial phenomenon - a lunar crown. Are you familiar with this rare phenomenon?

Unlike a typical rainbow, the observed phenomenon was not related to recent rain but rather to the refraction of light in the droplets or ice crystals present in the air, particularly in the clouds. A luminous and whitish halo formed directly around the moon. At the periphery of this lunar crown, the characteristic colors of a rainbow emerged, although their separation was not as distinct as that of a traditional rainbow. The hues appear to blend harmoniously into one another.

This phenomenon is characterized by its relatively small diameter. The inner edge surrounding the moon extends at an angle between 2.5° and 8°, while the outer edge can reach up to 15°.

Another feature of this image is the "conjunction" between the moon and the Pleiades (a cluster of stars) present in the orange halo within the crown.

Equipment used: Canon 6D astrodon – January 20, 2024 – Canon 50mm - HDR.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions about this phenomenon.

"In a city where the traffic lights were permanently stuck on yellow, and everyone walked a little sideways just because it felt right, there stood a statue of a lion with a leaf clasped gently in his mouth. The statue's name was Sir Reginald P. Lionhart III, but everyone just called him Reggie. No one knew why a lion would hold a leaf, and frankly, no one questioned the oddities in this town—like the crosswalks that led nowhere or the park benches facing brick walls.

Reggie's leaf wasn't just any leaf; it was a meticulously chosen leaf from the only tree in the city that grew upside down. The roots reached for the sky, and the branches plunged into the earth, defying all botanical logic. One day, the leaf decided it had enough of subterranean life and embarked on an adventure upward, eventually landing squarely into Reggie's open mouth.

Reggie, being a lifelike statue with a keen sense of irony, decided to keep the leaf right there. It was his silent protest against the mundane expectations placed upon stone lions. Holding a leaf was his way of saying, "I contain multitudes."

People started to notice. The local philosopher, who held office hours on the corner between the invisible bookstore and the café that only served imaginary tea, proclaimed that the leaf symbolized the absurdity of existence. "It's a manifestation of our intrinsic desire to find meaning in the meaningless!" he shouted to a crowd of none.

Children began to leave offerings at Reggie's feet: mismatched socks, left-handed gloves, and drawings of three-headed dragons playing saxophones. They felt a kinship with this lion who dared to be different in a world that was already quite different.

One night, a mime—who wasn't actually trapped in an invisible box but liked to pretend he was—approached Reggie. "Why the leaf?" the mime didn't say. Reggie didn't reply, because statues and mimes share an unspoken bond that transcends words.

Meanwhile, the mayor issued a decree that all statues must adhere to the "Statue Code of Conduct," which explicitly forbade the unauthorized holding of foliage. Reggie remained unmoved—literally and metaphorically. The townspeople loved him for it. They started a movement called "Leaf It Be," campaigning for the rights of statues to express themselves.

Amidst all this, the leaf began to sprout tiny wings. Turns out, it wasn't a leaf at all but a caterpillar in disguise, yearning to become a butterfly but accidentally becoming a leaf instead. Reggie didn't mind. He admired the caterpillar’s commitment to its absurd identity crisis.

Eventually, the caterpillar-leaf took flight, leaving Reggie's mouth and soaring into the nonsensical sky, where clouds sometimes floated underground and rain fell upwards. Reggie felt a pang of something that might have been emotion if statues could feel.

In the end, Reggie decided to hold a spoon in his mouth next, just to keep things interesting. The townspeople applauded his new choice, reading all sorts of culinary and existential meanings into it. The philosopher began writing a book titled "The Spoonful of Existence," which no one would read because the pages were all blank.

By the way, did you ever consider that maybe the lion isn't holding the leaf—the leaf is holding the lion? In a world that absurd, anything is possible. Perhaps the real question isn't why the lion has a leaf in his mouth, but why we think a leaf doesn't belong there in the first place."

Wanderling Acoe. Wanderling - That's what the size will be called I think. Has anyone used that?

Acoe is the molds name. Like Chloe only with an A and without the L XD

I hope to focus on odd worldly faces that don't seem to have a place, but you feel like they belong somewhere. For example, is Acoe from asia, maybe somewhere in africa? Northern europe? I like faces like that. I like it when people can't just say "You're white, you're black, you're asian" etc. It's a big change the world is going through, and I don't think some people like it when they can't put people into corners based on race or nationality. Suck it, right? XD

Her head is almost done. Just got to work on the body now. She’s going to be somewhere between 35-40cm tall, but yosd sized torso with longer legs and arms. She’ll have two sets of feet - one pair will be yosd sized, and the other will be momoko/pullip sized, so there’d be a nice selection of shoes. I’m hoping that she’ll fit yosd clothes, they’ll just be super short. So like, dresses will be fine, and shorts/bloomers/shirts, but things like jeans and such will have to be made specifically for her. She would also come with a sleeping face, and I plan on doing an elf head and a sleeping elf head, though the open eyed will still have a different shape to her eyes than the non-elf. Eventually I hope to have her professionally cast but the first few will be cast by me.

Her ears have also been moved after this and her eyes are a different shape. I’LL SHOW YOU SOON. Thoughts? Would you buy a doll like this for $350-$400?

I’m also thinking of casting her in porcelain but I’m not sure about selling her in that medium, would anyone be interested in a spring-‘strung’ porcelain version?

Do you think my faceups would be good enough to offer as default faceups?

I know it’s hard to gauge but I’m doing so much thinking now and I thought I may as well ask. I know I consider buying dolls based purely on progress shots sO I figure I can’t be the only one.

ANYWAY. I hope you like her! ^^

The Oakland Oaks were a minor league baseball team in Oakland, California that played in the Pacific Coast League from 1903 through 1955, after which the club transferred to Vancouver, British Columbia. The team was named for the city and used the oak tree and the acorn as its symbols.

Harry Nelson

Bats: Unknown • Throws: Left

Born: March 14, 1884 in Batavia, Illinois

Died: June 26, 1950 (Aged 66) in Oakland, CA

Full Name: Harry Edward Nelson

Nicknames: Slim

Both of his parents were born in Sweden

(Morning Oregonian., September 19, 1907 ) - Tacoma 1, Aberdeen 0. - TACOMA, Wash., Sept. 18. (Special.) In the most brilliant game of ball played on the Tacoma field this season "Slim" Nelson today beat Aberdeen 1 to 0. Nelson allowed but one hit in the game, a two-bagger to Boettlnger in the sixth Inning. He gave no bases on balls and did not hit a batter. In fact, Boettlnger was the only Aberdeen player to reach first base in the nine innings. Just 28 batters faced Nelson. Behind this phenomenal pitching the Tigers played superb ball. Besides performing wonderfully In the box. Nelson was active with the bat. He laced out one three-bagger and added a single the next time up.

In 1908, Slim Nelson threw a no-hitter against Oakland in the outlaw California State League. The only run of the game came on a home run by Nelson.

(San Francisco Call, Volume 106, Number 60, 30 July 1909) DEAN OF OAKLAND BALL FANS DIES - Peter Nelson, Veteran Enthusiast of National Game, Passes Away at Fabibla Hospital - OAKLAND, July 29.— Peter Olaf Nelson, dean of the Oakland baseball fans, died at Fabibla hospital this morning, ending a residence of 24 years in Oakland. For many years Nelson was the chief rooter at the league baseball games in this city. He lived at 1357 Twenty-third avenue, East Oakland. His son, Harry, better known as "Slim" Nelson, is now pitching for the Oakland Coast league team, and another son, "Bill," is catching' for a team In Mexico. Nelson was 53 years old and a native of Sweden.

(San Francisco Call, Volume 108, Number 159, 6 November 1910) - "SLIM" NELSON AN OAKLAND PRODUCT - He is One Player Whom None of the Fans Ever "Crab" At - Slim Nelson's head extends higher in the air than that of any other ball player in the Pacific coast league, and if he trained like Bat Nelson trains there Is no question that he could make the feather weight limit any time he wanted to start. : But he's a pitcher, not a boxer, so he don't have to weigh in.

Unlike most of the tossers on the Oakland team, Slim is a native product. Up to three years ago he had never broken away from the wilds of East Oakland, where he was born and where he used to throw rocks at lamp posts and Chinese washhouse. This is how he used to practice control when he was a kid, and he never lost the knack either.

Lou Schroder, who used to run the Alameda state league some three or four years ago, is the discoverer of the elongated slabster. He picked him out of a gang that was tossing rocks at a Chinese laundry one afternoon. Schroder noticed that the tall, Swedish American youth broke more windows in less time than any of the others. He immediately came to the conclusion that he would grab this kid and make a pitcher out of him. All he had to do was to offer Slim the job. The rest was easy.

In his first year with the state league the human sky scraper, was a go. He liked to pitch, and he soon developed a line, of curves that made all the opposing bushers worry. He pitched ball just like he pitched rocks at the oriental washing and ironing establishments. His control was great, and he generally hit the bullseye.

After a year and a half in the state league Slim's fame began to spread. It spread so rapidly and covered so much ground that they soon heard about him over in Oakland. They heard so much about him that one day Pa Van Haltren, who was then driving the Oakland band wagon, took a run over to Alameda to watch Slim work. He watched the long fellow for about three innings. Then he gave him a job. This, in brief, is the story, of how Slim introduced himself to fame. He became a big leaguer just as soon as he and Van Haltren had exchanged a few words. Van took him over, to Oakland and had him measured for a special uniform. This was necessary, otherwise they would have slipped him one of the castoffs. However, one peek at Slim convinced Van that he would have to contract for a special suit for the new slabster.

Oakland evidently looks good to Nelson, for he has never strayed away from the transbay team. This is his third season and he seems to like it better now than the first day he joined the team. He knows everybody in Oakland and they all know him. He has no enemy in all the world. They never roast Slim like they do the other pitchers, because they know that it will not do the slightest good In the world.

Slim never took himself seriously, and therefore he can not makeup his mind to take anybody or anything else seriously. He just goes on his way, kidding along and getting by. If he loses a game, it's all right, and if he wins one, well, it's a little better. But he never fumes or rages or goes into raptures over anything, not even when he makes a home run, and it is a matter of public record that he has made two since he linked himself to organized baseball, some two and a half years ago.

Many of the players believe that this quaint southpaw would have found his way back, to one of the big organizations ere this if he only took life and baseball a little more seriously. But such a thing seems impossible for Slim. He's against all the serious stuff either on or off the diamond. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why the fans all over the circuit like him so much. Anyhow you never hear them calling him a "bone head" or a "rubber skull" or a "busher," or anything like that.

It is the general belief that Nelson is a sort of fixture with the Oakland club. Players come and go every year, but Slim still holds on. And so long as he pitches good baseball he's bound to be a hit with the fans. Occasionally they bat him out of the box just as they do the other pitchers, but then Slim does not worry and he never gets sore when the relief man comes along to take his job.

(The Evening Statesman, January 31, 1910) - Reds Want Nelson. - Business Manager Frank Bancroft of the Cincinnati Reds is trying to buy pitcher Slim Nelson of the Oakland club. Oakland wants a great deal more money for Nelson than Bancroft is willing to pay, though poor Nelson has been working for a mere pittance over the last two years. He pitched a few games for the All Nationa's this winter and thus made good with Bancroft.

(Morning Oregonian., April 26, 1910) - "Slim" Nelson, the comic twirler of the Oakland club, has more fun on the coaching lines than any other player in the league. "Slim" likes to kid the stands and the bleacherites as well as they like to jolly the funny man of the Athenian herd. "Slim" is funny enough - without the antics he cuts up.

(Sporting Life - 27 May 1911) - Southpaw pitcher "Slim" Nelson has been released by the Oakland Club.

(The San Francisco Call., April 28, 1912) - Slim Nelson, formerly one of the Oaks' firing line, a southpaw, has joined the American Rubber company nine, one of the fastest, if not the fastest, amateur nine about the bay. Slim acquitted himself well Sunday.

(The San Francisco call., April 25, 1912) - Rubber Nine Defeats

Y. M. I. by Nose - The American Rubber company team yesterday defeated the Washington council of the Young Men's Institute at the Emeryville grounds by the score of 6 to 5 after 11 innings of hard fought baseball. McGushin of the losers pitched the better ball, allowing the hard hitting American Rubber boys but six scattered hits and fanning 16. The umpire was responsible for the defeat of the Washington council, as the home run that "Slim" Nelson, the former Oakland southpaw, secured was foul by many feet. He was off in calling balls and strikes also.

A full interview with the Israeli painter Raphael Perez (in Hebrew Rafi Peretz) about the ideas behind the naive painting, resume, personal biography and CV

Question: Raphael Perez Tell us about your work process as a naive painter?

Answer: I choose the most iconic and famous buildings in every city and town that are architecturally interesting and have a special shape and place the iconic buildings on boulevards full of trees, bushes, vegetation, flowers.

Question: How do you give depth in your naive paintings?

Answer: To give depth to the painting, I build the painting with layers of vegetation, after those low famous buildings, followed by a tall avenue of trees, and behind them towers and skyscrapers, in the sky I sometimes put innocent signs of balloons, kites.

A recurring motif in some of my paintings is the figure of the painter who is in the center of the boulevard and paints the entire scene unfolding in front of him, also there are two kindergarten teachers who are walking with the kindergarten children with the state flags that I paint, and loving couples hugging and kissing and family paintings of mother, father and child walking in harmony on the boulevard.

Question: Raphael Perez What characterizes your naive painting?

Answer: Most naive paintings have the same characteristics

(Definition as it appears in Wikipedia)

• Tells a simple story to absorb from everyday life, usually with humans.

• The representation of the painter's idealization to reality - the mapping of reality.

• Failure to maintain perspective - especially details even in distant details.

• Extensive use of repeating patterns - many details.

• Warm and bright colors.

• Sometimes the emphasis is on outlines.

• Most of the characters are flat, lack volume

• No interest in texture, expression, correct proportions

• No interest in anatomy.

• There is not much use of light and shadow, the colors create a three-dimensional effect.

I find these definitions to be valid for all my naive paintings

Question: Raphael Perez Why do you mainly choose the city of Tel Aviv?

Answer: I was born in Jerusalem, the capital city which I love very much and also paint,

I love the special Bauhaus buildings in Tel Aviv, the ornamental buildings that were built a century ago in the 1920s and 1930s, the beautiful boulevards, towers and modern skyscrapers give you the feeling of the hustle and bustle of a large metropolis and there are quite a few low and tall buildings that are architecturally fascinating in their form the special one

Also, the move to Tel Aviv, which is the capital of culture, freedom, and secularism, allowed me to live my life as I chose, to live in a relationship with a man, Jerusalem, which is a traditional city, it is more complicated to live a homosexual life, also, the art world takes place mainly in the city of Tel Aviv, and it is possible that from a professional point of view, this allows I can support myself better in Tel Aviv than in any other city in Israel.

Question: raphael perez are the paintings of the city of Tel Aviv different from the paintings of the city of Jerusalem

Answer: Most of the paintings of Jerusalem have an emphasis on the color yellow, gold, the color of the old city walls, the subjects I painted in Jerusalem are mainly a type of idealization of a peaceful life between Jews and Arabs and paintings that deal with the Jewish religious world, a number of paintings depict all shades of the currents of Judaism of today

In contrast, the Tel Aviv paintings are more colorful, with skyscrapers, the sea, balloons and more secular motifs

Question: Raphael Perez Tell us about which buildings and their architects you usually choose in your city paintings

Answer: My favorite buildings are those that have a special shape that anyone can recognize and are the symbols of the city and you will give several examples:

In the city of Tel Aviv, my favorite buildings are: the opera building with its unusual geometric shape, the Yisrotel tower with its special head, the Hail Bo Shalom tower that for years was the symbol of the tallest building in Tel Aviv, the Levin house that looks like a Japanese pagoda, the burgundy-colored Nordeau hotel with the special dome at the end of the building, A pair of Alon towers with the special structure of the sea, Bauhaus buildings typical of Tel Aviv with the special balconies and the special staircase, the Yaakov Agam fountain in Dizengoff square appears in a large part of the paintings, many towers that are in the stock exchange complex, the Aviv towers and other tall buildings on Ayalon, in some of the paintings I took plans An outline of future buildings that need to be built in the city and I drew them even before they were built in reality,

In the paintings of Jerusalem, I mainly chose the area of the Old City and East Jerusalem, a painting of the walls of the Old City, the Western Wall, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the El Akchea Mosque, the Tower of David, most of the famous churches in the city, the right hand of Moses, in most of the paintings the Jew is wearing a blue shirt with a red male cord I was in the youth movement and the Arab with a galabia, and in the paintings of the religious public then, Jews with black suits and white shirts, tallitas, kippahs, special hats, synagogues and more

I also created three paintings of the city of Haifa and one painting of Safed

In the Haifa paintings I drew the university, the Technion, the famous Egged Tower, the Sail Tower, well-known hotels, of course the Baha'i Gardens and the Baha'i Temple, Haifa Port and the boats and other famous buildings in the city

Question: Have you created series of other cities from around the world?

Answer: I created series of New York City with all the iconic and famous buildings such as: the Guggenheim Museum, the famous skyscrapers - the Chrysler Building, the Empire State Building, Lincoln Center, the famous synagogue in the city, the Statue of Liberty, the flags of the United States and other famous buildings

Two paintings of London and all its famous sites, Big Ben, famous monuments, the Ferris wheel, Queen Elizabeth and her family, the double bus, the famous public telephone, palaces, famous churches, well-known monuments

I created 4 naive paintings of cities in China, a painting of Shanghai, two paintings of the city of Suzhou and a painting of the World Park in the city of Beijing... I chose the famous skyline of Shanghai with all the famous towers, the famous promenade, temples and old buildings, two Paintings of the city of Suzhou with the famous canals, bridges, special gardens, towers and skyscrapers of the city

Why do we never get an answer

When we're knocking at the door

With a thousand million questions

About hate and death and war?

When we stop and look around us

There is nothing that we need.

In a world of persecution that is burning in its greed.

She was a beauty--a gold 45 goddess for sure! A Gold 45 Goddess exalts the archetypal form of Athena--the Greek Goddess of wisdom, warfare, strategy, heroic endeavour, handicrafts and reason. A Gold 45 Goddess guards the beauty of dx4/dt=ic and embodies 45SURF's motto "Virtus, Honoris, et Actio Pro Veritas, Amor, et Bellus, (Strength, Honor, and Action for Truth, Love, and Beauty," and she stands ready to inspire and guide you along your epic, heroic journey into art and mythology. It is Athena who descends to call Telemachus to Adventure in the first book of Homer's Odyssey--to man up, find news of his true father Odysseus, and rid his home of the false suitors, and too, it is Athena who descends in the first book of Homer's Iliad, to calm the Rage of Achilles who is about to draw his sword so as to slay his commander who just seized Achilles' prize, thusly robbing Achilles of his Honor--the higher prize Achilles fought for. And now Athena descends once again, assuming the form of a Gold 45 Goddess, to inspire you along your epic journey of heroic endeavour.

(sic)

Why not the Cute Azz for men?

Coachwork by Espera - Sbarro

153329 is seen at Okehampton awaiting to depart on the slightly delayed 2J05 1155 service to St James' Park. The guy in the green vest was asking for opinions about the service as this service could be potentially soon running every day all year round instead of just summer Sundays. Observed on 21st August 2016.

Toronto held its second anti-Trump protest in as many days outside of the U.S. Consulate General on University Avenue today. The rally was attended by thousands despite the frigid temperature. The anti-Trump protesters came from many walks of life: liberalists, left-wing and centrist people, Socialists, Communists, Black Lives Matter (BLM), labour unions, mainstream population and visible minorities, and groups from many religious groups.
