Die Sinter-Terrassen und heißen Quellen bei dem Ort Mammoth Hot Springs im Yellowstone-Nationalpark wurden 1871 durch eine geologische Expedition entdeckt. Zuvor dürften sie nur einigen Indianer - Völkern bekannt gewesen sein. Heiße Quellen lassen Wasser von ca. 70 Grad Celsius über die Terrassen gleiten. Die hohen Kalk- und Mineralienanteile des Wassers lagern sich in Form von Terrassen ab.

The sinter terraces and hot springs at Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park were discovered by a geological expedition in 1871. Before that, they were probably known only to some Native American peoples. Hot springs let water of about 70 degrees Celsius glide over the terraces. The high lime and mineral content of the water is deposited in the form of terraces.

Der Tangkuban Perahu liegt etwa 20 Kilometer von der viertgrößten indonesischen Stadt Bandung entfernt und ist dort optisch allgegenwärtig. Obwohl er lange Zeit inaktiv war, ist eine gewisse Ehrfurcht der Einwohner Bandungs dennoch vorhanden.

Von Lembang aus ist der Vulkan in den unteren Regionen von unerschlossenem Dschungel umgeben, gefördert durch die fruchtbare Vulkanasche. Neben dem inaktiven Hauptkrater gibt es zahlreiche Nebenkrater, die typischerweise als heiße Quellen vorkommen. Kleinere Ausbrüche mit Ascheregen treten gelegentlich auf, zuletzt im September 1983. Schwefeldioxidgeruch ist am Hauptkrater sowie an den zahlreichen Nebenkratern allgegenwärtig. Am 4. März 2013 brach er nach fast 30 jähriger Ruhe wieder aus. Er schleuderte Asche und Gestein 500 Meter hoch. Es wurde die zweithöchste Warnstufe ausgerufen.

After a light rain shower, the sky clears over the coastal marsh Marais du Quellen near Trebeurden in Brittany and there it is, one of the semi-wild Camargue horses that ensure that the meadows in the marshy terrain remain meadows. One sees the horses rarely in the unclear and hardly accessible, because boggy area. However, the photo god was probably very favorable to me in this case.

Nach einem leichten Regenschauer klart der Himmel über dem Küstensumpf Marais du Quellen bei Trebeurden in der Bretagne auf und da steht es, eines der halbwilden Camarguepferde, die im moorigen Gelände dafür sorgen, dass die Wiesen in dem Sumpfgebiet Wiesen bleiben. Man sieht die Pferde selten in dem unübersichtlichen und kaum zugänglichen, weil morastigen Gelände. Der Fotogott war mir aber in diesem Fall wohl sehr zugeneigt.

Die Bretonen nennen die weißen Pferde »Chevaux de fées«, Feenpferde.

Und wirklich, in diesem wilden Eichendickicht sieht das Feenpferd aus, als warte es auf die Nacht, um umschwirrt von Glühwürmchen mit der Elfenkönigin Titania auf dem Rücken, durch den Sumpfwald aus Eichen, Erlen und Pappeln zu streifen.

Britzer Garten

Water is a formative element of the Britzer Garten. The ten-hectare lake, surrounded by a hilly landscape, forms its calm heart. Nearby are three smaller lakes, and slender streams and waterfalls traverse the park. In many parts of the lake area the vegetation, including bushes, shrubs and meadows, continues down to the banks and into the water. An interplay of space and small details, light and shade, hill and valley, lakes, springs and brooks gives the interior of the park its characteristic aesthetic. Its many garden attractions and special gardens blend harmoniously into the park landscape.

Wasser ist ein prägendes Element des Britzer Gartens: Der fast zehn Hektar große See, umgeben von einer Hügellandschaft, bildet das ruhige Herzstück im Zentrum. In seiner Nachbarschaft liegen drei weitere kleinere Seen, außerdem durchziehen schmale Bachläufe und Wasserfälle den Park. Taj Mahal - Der Name des Bauwerkes ist wahrscheinlich europäischen ursprungs, abgeleitet aus der Ehrenbezeichnung der Herrscherin, denn in den Einheimischen Quellen wird das Mausoleum durchweg nur als Rauza-i-Munavara (beleuchtetes Grab) bezeichnet.

The Monte Capanne, which forms the western part of the island of Elba, is 1019 m s.l.m. the highest point on the island. The mountain is made of granodiorite. On the north side of the Capanne massif, chestnut forests and bush forest, the so-called macchia, grow. The south side, however, is quite bare. There are numerous springs in the area.

The imposing Iffigfall (Iffig Falls), the magnificent Simmenfälle (Simmen Falls) and the Quellen der Simme (Springs of Simme). Add to that the superb view from the Langermatte. From highlight to highlight, this hike to the origin of the River Simme is really a thrilling experience. From Langermatte, where the legendary Battle of Wyber took place, the 30 minute ascent to Oberlaubhorn is really worth the effort.
