Spent a very pleasant couple of hours up on the hills today, looking for Dartfords. I think I found three pairs, but they were very mobile, so maybe just four birds.
Staple plain, Quantock Hills.
I was hoping to get back up here to have another go at this location but the window of opportunity is short and the recent wet weather has all but put paid to it for this year for me.
The light was looking promising so a trip to Crowcombe was on the cards for me , i had an idea of the composition i was after but in ever fading light it still proved difficult , it always does, eventually it all fell into place , one of the best skies ive seen at this location , when ive had my camera with me that is ,and so the shutter was pressed and i drove home content with the capture.

We are back in Somerset and this is somewhere we loved to walk...a bit misty today but still stunning..

One of the many semi-wild ponies on the Quantocks. This one at a drinking pool near Wills Neck trig point. This was a nice but only very temporary distraction from the amazing cloud inversion going on in the background.
Rain falling, fog bank rolling in from the Bristol Channel. Ten minutes later it was sunny.
