The Amphicar Model 770 is an amphibious automobile, the first such vehicle mass-produced for sale to the public starting in 1961. The German vehicle was designed by Hanns Trippel and manufactured by the Quandt Group at Lübeck and at Berlin-Borsigwalde. Its name is a portmanteau of "amphibious" and "car". The Amphicar was designed to be marketed and sold in the USA. Compared to most boats or cars, its performance was modest, and only 4000 were produced by 1965. Nevertheless, it is still among the most successful amphibious civilian autos of all time, and still often prized and preserved as novelty collectible automobiles today.

Das am Rande des Elbsandsteingebietes liegende Dorf Dittersbach ist ein typisches Waldhufendorf der Deutschen Ostkolonisation. In einer Urkunde aus dem Jahr 1350 wird hier bereits von einem Herrensitz gesprochen, der die Grundlage des heutigen Schlosses gewesen sein dürfte. Als Johann Gottlob Quandt das Rittergut Dittersbach erwarb, fand er bereits ein aus dem letzten Drittel des 17. Jahrhunderts stammendes Herrenhaus vor, welches auf drei Seiten von niedrigen Stallgebäuden umgeben war und zusätzlich auf einer Seite von einem Wassergraben gesäumt wurde. Dieses Herrenhaus ließ der Goetheverehrer und aufgeklärte Adelige Quandt umgestaltet, wodurch die heutige Gestalt de Schlosses hergestellt wurde. Über den Wassergraben führte damals noch eine Brücke in den an der Wesenitz gelegenen Landschaftspark.

Blick auf die Hauptorgel im Dom von Speyer
Im Gegensatz zum Dom, der 1061 als größte Kirche des Abendlandes geweiht wurde, ist die Hauptorgel auf der Westempore sehr jung. Sie wurde 2011 durch die Orgelbaufirma Romanus Seifert & Sohn eingebaut, nachdem die Vorgängerorgel von 1961 an eine 2002 fertiggestellte Kirche im polnischen Białystok verschenkt wurde. Das Instrument hat 5.496 Pfeifen, die sich auf 83 Register auf vier Manualen und Pedal verteilen. Die größte Pfeife mit einer Länge von fast 10 Metern. Die Kosten der Orgel beliefen sich auf ca. 2 Millionen Euro, die zum Großteil von der Unternehmerfamilie Quandt zur Verfügung gestellt wurden.
Der Speyerer Dom ist seit 1981 Bestandteil des UNESCO-Weltkulturerbes.

Industriegebäude der Tuchfabrik Wittstock Dosse von 1905 mit Sheddachhallen. 1911 wurde der Industrielle Günther Quandt Mitinhaber der Tuchfabrik Friedrich Paul in Wittstock an der Dose. 1945 wurden die Maschinen der verbliebenen Anlagen demontiert und als Reparationsleistungen in die damalige Sowjetunion transportiert. Das seit 1994 leer stehende ehemalige Verwaltungsgebäude der Tuchfabrik , das später den Rat des Kreises Pritzwalk aufnahm, wird in Zukunft unter anderem Wohnungen enthalten und in den Lager- und Produktionsbereich der Tuchfabrik wird die Pritzwalker Bildungsgesellschaft moderne Ausbildungsstätten und Möglichkeiten zur internatsmäßigen Unterbringung von Auszubildenden schaffen. Wer in der New-York Hamburger Gummi-Waren Compagnie am Harburger Binnenhafen zum Licht gehen will, bricht vielleicht durch den Fußboden. Der imposante Gebäudekomplex ist einer der bedeutendsten Zeitzeugen der Industrialisierung Hamburgs. Das Ursprungsbaus von 1866 verfällt leider zunehmend seit dem Standortwechsel des Unternehmens im Jahre 2009.
Wie ihr sehen könnt, war ich nicht in der Gummifabrik, sondern in einer Ausstellung mit Fotos von Florian Quandt
Anyone who wants to go to the light in the
New York Hamburger Gummi-Waaren Compagnie at the Harburg inner harbor might have to break through the floor. The imposing building complex is one of the most important witnesses to Hamburg's industrialization. The original building from 1866 has unfortunately been falling into disrepair since the company moved to its new location in 2009.
As you can see, I wasn't in the rubber factory, but in an exhibition with photos by Florian Quandt

The Amphicar is an amphibious automobile, launched at the 1961 New York Auto Show, manufactured in West Germany and marketed from 1961 to 1968. Production stopped in 1965.
Designed by Hans Trippel, the amphibious vehicle was manufactured by the Quandt Group at Lübeck and at Berlin-Borsigwalde, with a total of 3,878 manufactured in a single generation.
A descendant of the Volkswagen Schwimmwagen, the Amphicar offered only modest performance compared to most contemporary boats or cars, featured navigation lights and flag as mandated by Coast Guard — and after operation in water, required greasing at 13 points, one of which required removal of the rear seat.

Bayerische Motoren Werke Aktiengesellschaft (BMW AG),[4] trading as BMW Group (commonly abbreviated to BMW (German pronunciation: [ˌbeːʔɛmˈveː] ⓘ), sometimes anglicised as Bavarian Motor Works), is a German multinational conglomerate manufacturer of luxury vehicles and motorcycles headquartered in Munich, Germany. The moniker, "BMW ", first came into use when the German firm Rapp Motorenwerke changed its name to Bayerische Motoren Werke GmbH (BMW GmbH) in 1917. BMW AG is headquartered in Munich and produces motor vehicles in Germany, United Kingdom, United States, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, India, and China.[10] The Quandt family [de] is a long-term shareholder of the company, following investments by the brothers Herbert and Harald Quandt in 1959 which saved BMW from bankruptcy, with remaining shares owned by the public.
History
Main article: History of BMW
Otto Flugmaschinenfabrik was founded in 1910 by Gustav Otto in the Kingdom of Bavaria, which was a state of the German Empire. The firm was reorganized on 18 August 1916 into Bayerische Flugzeugwerke AG. This company was then renamed to Bayerische Motoren Werke (BMW) in 1922. However, the name BMW dates back to 1913, when a company using that name was founded by Karl Rapp initially as Rapp Motorenwerke. The name and Rapp Motorenwerke's engine-production assets were transferred to Bayerische Flugzeugwerke in 1922, who adopted the name the same year.[11] BMW's first product was an engine for fighter aircraft of the Luftstreitkräfte. It was a straight-six called the BMW IIIa, designed in the spring of 1917 by engineer Max Friz. Following the end of World War I, BMW remained in business by producing motorcycle engines, agricultural equipment, household items, and railway brakes. The company produced its first motorcycle, the BMW R 32, in 1923.
BMW became an automobile manufacturer in 1928 when it purchased Fahrzeugfabrik Eisenach, which, at the time, built the Austin 7 under licence from Automobilwerk Eisenach, badged as the Dixi.[12] The first car sold as a BMW was a rebadged Dixi called the BMW 3/15, following BMW's acquisition of the car manufacturer Automobilwerk Eisenach. Throughout the 1930s, BMW expanded its range into sports cars and larger luxury cars.[13][14]
Aircraft engines, motorcycles, and automobiles would be BMW's main products until World War II. During the war, BMW concentrated on building the BMW 801 aircraft engine using as many as 40,000 slave laborers.[15] These consisted primarily of prisoners from Nazi concentration camps, most prominently Dachau. Motorcycles remained as a side-line and automobile manufacture ceased altogether.
BMW's factories were heavily bombed during the war and its remaining West German facilities were banned from producing motor vehicles or aircraft after the war. The company survived by making pots, pans, and bicycles. In 1948, BMW restarted motorcycle production. BMW resumed car production in Bavaria in 1952 with the BMW 501 luxury saloon. The range of cars was expanded in 1955, through the production of the cheaper Isetta microcar under licence. Slow sales of luxury cars and small profit margins from microcars, meant BMW was in serious financial trouble and in 1959 the company was nearly taken over by rival Daimler-Benz.[16][17]
A large investment in BMW by Herbert Quandt and Harald Quandt resulted in the company surviving as a separate entity. Günther Quandt was a well-known German industrialist and joined the Nazi party in 1933; he made a fortune arming the German Wehrmacht, manufacturing weapons and batteries.[18] Many of his enterprises were appropriated from Jewish owners under duress with minimal compensation. At least three of his enterprises made extensive use of slave laborers, as many as 50,000 in all.[19] One of his battery factories had its own on-site concentration camp, complete with gallows. Life expectancy for laborers was six months.[19][20] While Quandt and BMW were not directly connected during the war, funds amassed in the Nazi era by his father allowed Herbert Quandt to buy BMW.[...Wikipedia

Der Name Eschdorfs geht wahrscheinlich auf einen Lokator namens Eschwin zurück. Die Siedlung ist erstmals 1317 in Urkunden zu finden, jedoch ist die Kirche offenbar schon 1225 gegründet worden. Ursprünglich unterstand Eschdorf der Grundherrschaft Rossendorf. Als ein neuer Besitzer dieser Grundherrschaft 1685 seine Residenz von Rossdorf nach Eschdorf verlegte wurde ein hier befindliches Freigut ausgebaut. Dabei entstand das Herrenhaus, welches 1767 als "herrschaftliches Wohnhaus mit Gerichtsstube, Wirtschaftsgebäude, Brauerei, Gesindehaus und Kuhstall" beschrieben wurde. Das Wohnhaus mit Wendeltreppe ist bis heute erhalten geblieben, wenngleich 1840 die Residenz der Grundherrschaft wieder nach Rossendorf verlegt worden war. Johann Gottlob von Quandt hatte dort ein neues Herrenhaus erbauen lassen.

Acoma Pueblo (Sky City), New Mexico, is the oldest continuously inhabited village in the United States. The Pueblo was built on top of a massive sandstone mesa which rises 400 feet above the valley and approximately 7,000 feet above sea level.The Acoma people are known for their delicately decorated black-on-white pottery.
