The world is facing a crises, not the global financial crises.... One of sustainability. Most of the world recieves drinking water dellivered to their house weekly as it is done here in China. This is a lolcal service which provides drinking water, as you can not drink what is from the tap. There are every growing areas though that find it a challange everyday to get to clean drinking water sources. PLaces which deliver water have very little quality control and supervision; however it is a much safer alternative than the tap water.

Received this while going through the drive-thru today. Brought it home and this is what I was surprised to see. I'm absolutely amazed at how horrendous the quality control is here at the McDonald's. This has not been the first time I received a bad order like this. Majority of the time, the chicken is small. I still say, for a $6+ combo meal, it's not worth the price. I'm not posting this just to knock on McDonald's, but merely to just show my experience.

To start, I would simply like to say that Sunkey, the maker of my first converter box, makes junk. It lasted a month and 11 days after I took it out of the box and installed it. It worked at 9:30 Monday morning, March 25. At 5:00pm that same day, bupkus. It turned on with the remote, booted, but instead of the channel display, there were four LED hashmarks -- no picture, no sound. Then, it would not shut off using either the remote or the on/off button on the converter. Sunkey's "tech support" number (a 323 area code) is hooked up to an answering machine. It's been three days, and they have not responded to either my calls or e-mails. Until I hear something from you, Sunkey, and this is resolved, YOU BUILD JUNK. And you don't stand behind it.
In doing further research, I found that poor quality has been a problem with every brand of converter box from the time they came out in 2009. I'm not the only one whose converter has conked out after barely a month. And in my case, the thing was barely used, since I had sworn off most TV except for the 5:30pm and 10:00 news for Lent. So most of the time, it just sat there, ice cold, unless it was turned on with the remote, and I always had it set to turn off after a half hour. No reason for this thing to have done this. And it's powering a TV that, except for a tuner issue in 2008, has provided reliable service for almost 12 years now, and I hope it's 12 more.
Watching the news online is not an option. The network news isn't available as one continuous newscast, and the sports segments on the local news are chopped out of their streaming broadcast because of rights issues with the footage. So a converter box is a very necessary evil.
To prevent a recurrence of this merriment, I decided to buy a more expensive Digital Stream converter from Radio Shack, and also buy the extended 2-year warranty. If it craps out again, I can take it back to any Radio Shack for a replacement. It doesn't have a channel display like the Sunkey, but then, neither did my last Comcast cable box.
By the way, I never, ever keep this one or the previous one sitting on top of the TV. This is just to show you what it looks like, and the picture it provides. On an unrelated note, will spring ever come to Chicago?

Hand-made corkscrew from the famous French artisan region Laguiole. A nice classic. The only thing I don't like about it is the smooth blade (not serrated) to cut a winebottle's foil. Supposedly there's an old man at quality control who has been doing qualitycontrol for decades. Beware of lots of fake offerings on internet. The bee (abeille) - a badly crafted one - is a telltale sign of fakes.
Strobist: SB-800 bounced of wall facing away from the corkscrew, on-camera Commander flash dialed down to EV -1.7, taken with the 105mm lens to get rid of shadows. Background is a spare wet tile. A leftover tile from my new bathroomfloor.
Photoshop: The Nikon D80 and SB-800 have a tendency to create a lot of CA on shiny surfaces (metals and waters etc.), so I choose the Color Balance (Command-U) tool and selected the green and red CA bits and decreased their saturation and lightness. The area around the lettering was horrible.
*80% of this brand are Chinese fakes. This one turned out to be fake as well. The iron broke off.

The Munsell Rock Color Chart provides a durable, accurate method for classifying and judging rocks sample. Each book comes with over 115 Munsell Color Standards each with its correct ISCC-NBS color name and unique Munsell alpha-numeric notation.
Easily and accurately communicate the exact color information of your rock samples by using the Munsell Color Standards contained in the Rock Color Chart. This chart is primarily for field use and indicates the range of rock colors for all purposes and is accurate for wet or dry samples. Although the chart is mainly used to assign values to medium to finegrained rocks, it can also be used to describe coarse-grained rocks as well.
The Munsell Rock Color Charts is a revision of the previously published Geological Society of America (GSA) Rock-Color Chart

I called Reebok and they said it would take 3-4 weeks to process the paperwork for a return. They said they would need photos of the damage.
When I complained about the 3-4 week delay, Rebook suggested I take the unit back to the retail store.
I called Sam's Club where I bought it, and they graciously agreed to take it back. So I put all the parts back into my car and drove to the store. I needed a flatbed push cart and a 2nd shopping cart to hold all the parts. I picked up another machine and drove home.
Another couple hours of assembly and I had a working machine.
I emailed Reebok and asked them if I could contact their Quality Control Manager. They said I could send them my photo, but they did not give me the name of their QC person.

Here is a photo of the base unit before I unpacked it and two photos of the damage.
There are two important issues I want to stress. I am familiar with off-shore manufacturing procedures.
1.) This damage was definitely done at the factory. The protective foam wrapping was applied correctly and there was no signs of any damage to the wrapping or the outside box. This damage might look minor, but a great deal of force was needed to dent the metal tube. The damage prevented the pivot axle from pushing through the horizontal tube. I tried it from both sides.
2.) Please consider how much effort this required to correct. I had to get the 250+ pound package out of the back of my station wagon. There are a lot of assembly steps required before hitting asembly step #9 - screwns, nuts, washers, light and heavy parts. And then there is the issue of getting all these parts back to the retailer for replacement. After driving back to the retailer, I used a flat bed push cart and a shopping cart to get all the parts from my car to the returns area. I had to get another flat bed push cart and pick up the replacement machine. After processing the paperwork, I put the replacement into my car and drove home. And then went through the assembly process once again.
All of this could have been eliminated with a simple visual quality control check of the unit before it was packaged at the factory.
But now you have
- an upset customer
- a retailer that will have to dispose of the damaged machine
- and Reebok issuing a credit to the retailer.
A lot of pain and suffering which could have been avoided by simply checking the tube.
Regards
John Benson
