A Vermont Railway Qualifying Extra is seen blasting north over the Sugar River trestle in Claremont, NH on the NECR Palmer Subdivision. With the closure of the Middlebury Tunnel on the VRS Northern Subdivision starting in the coming weeks, Vermont Railway will be detouring trains over the former CV now New England Central mainline from Burlington to Bellows Falls, providing some unique photo opportunities for a normally nocturnal stretch of railroad. Although I would like to see matching VRS power, the power will primarily be GATX GP38-2's that were leased by the State of Vermont specifically for these detours.

Amtrak HHPC 9750 brings up the rear of an HHPC qualifying train over Dock Bridge in Newark, NJ on April 14, 2025. After spending several years out of service the HHP-8s will soon make their return on the Northeast Corridor acting as cab cars on Northeast Regional trains.

I've seen videos of vehicles having to be towed out of the sand farther back down this road (where we camped). There is a steep uphill section that causes most of the problems. If I remember correctly, it's about the only time we actually need 4WD while in Vermillion Cliffs.

Qualification runs of Amtrak's Avelia Liberty (Acela II) train sets have ramped up this spring. Here we have 2133 running west through Edison on a mostly cloudy afternoon. Maybe these things will actually enter revenue service soon.

Keolis Extra 2025 is seen passing the former B&M Lancaster Freight House in Lancaster, MA as they qualify crews on the Pan Am Worcester Main to account for track work scheduled on the Grand Junction in the coming weeks.

The roll-out of the Metrolink F125's continues. Here #928 with F59PHI 887 for back-up is ready to take a train out of LAUS, possibly Antelope Valley line #211. On the adjacent track, MP36PH-3C 899 has just brought train #312 in from San Bernardino. Once the F125's have run a certain number of hours without any issues, they get sole possesion of a train without the need for a backup loco. The latest F125's now going into service have the addition of a white frame stripe to increase visibilty from the side. It does dress up the scheme a little bit.
