One really rewarding thing of being a structural engineer is seeing your work when it is completed. I went to the Qualcomm campus today to take a few pictures of the final outcome of all my hard work. I literally got one shot off before the security told me photos aren't allowed.

Demolition of "The Murph". Another chapter closes in the history of San Diego. These are some drone photos of the demolition of the former home of the San Diego Chargers as well as the San Diego Padres.
SDCCU Stadium was a multi-purpose stadium in San Diego, California that is currently under demolition. The stadium opened in 1967 as San Diego Stadium and was known as Jack Murphy Stadium from 1981 to 1997. From 1997 to 2017, the stadium's naming rights were owned by San Diego-based telecommunications equipment company Qualcomm, and the stadium was known as Qualcomm Stadium. The naming rights expired on June 14, 2017 and were purchased by San Diego County Credit Union renaming the facility as SDCCU Stadium on September 19, 2017. The stadium closed in March 2020 and demolition is currently underway, scheduled to be completed in early 2021.
Due to the structure containing asbestos, PCBs, and other toxic materials, demolition has to be a slow and careful process. Imploding the stadium is not an option. San Diego State University is building the new Aztec Stadium and an expansion campus on the existing parking lot.

Road Trip to San Diego for the Raiders vs Chargers game. When my Sorority sister and I were in New Orleans we met a couple of the officers of the Raider Nation South LA crew. They invited us to join them for the Raiders/Chargers game. They promised we would be treated like family. That is exactly what happened. Of course we met a few Sorority sisters that were in that chapter. We had such a good time. Looking forward to joining them again next year.

Gulfstream Aerospace G650 (cn 6017) an early morning departure from ANC with Lakes Hood and Spenard in view.
When in ANC I always stay at the Lake Hood Inn which is on this lake and just minutes from the runway. Special spotter's rates are sometimes available, especially for longer stays off season.

Demo by Matt Grob, CTO of Qualcomm at the Abundance360 conference in Beverly Hills. I took a video too, for a sense of it.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon Flight drone platform is an autonomous navigation system, with an optical flow camera, visual inertial odmotery, motion planning, obstacle mapping and local neural networks for object recognition.
They have a 1-2 watt Snapdragon 820 processor and a SNPE (Neural Processing Engine) and there is an deep learning SDK and rumors that they are tensor flow native with a neural processing unit to come.
