This the FINAL postings for the Cooktown Trip after two years uploading photos. I am continuing on from the last posting I did, with photos at the Quaid Dam which is beside the highway. I liked that area because of the colours but it was not the best situation as you were looking into the late afternoon sun.
Thank you all for taking the time to look at this series which saw over 250 photos posted. I appreciated the comments and the help in identifying plants I enjoyed the series.

This dam was built for a farming venture and a road bulldozed through to the coast about 25/30 years ago. I understand the road is in fairly good condition, and with work done on it could be an alternative route to the coast from the northern Atherton Tablelands. However the current Queensland Government refuses to do anything about it because of idealogical (sp) positions it holds (aka "stubbornness"). All remains in limbo with gates put across the road.
Anyway I was here at late afternoon and the western sun was strong off the water and I was facing west. It was hard to take the photos. 5 photos showing the area. I will post one more set of 5 and that will conclude the Cooktown adventure that I have been posting on for 2 years.
Mazar-e-Quaid, Jinnah Mausoleum or the National Mausoleum refers to the tomb of the founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah. It is an iconic symbol of Karachi throughout the world.
Paddy has been involved with Special Olympics Ireland since Eircom became a sponsor 25 years ago.
He has also led staff involvement in other community activities, but in Eircom, he is the internal face of Special Olympics.
Since 1984, Paddy’s constant engagement with the Special Olympics has been instrumental in growing and keeping a large number of Eircom staff involved in supporting the organisation.
Paddy has managed staff involvement in Torch Runs and fundraising campaigns as well as being a volunteer himself for Special Olympics’ All Ireland Games and World Games both here in Ireland in 2003 and abroad.
He also has spent periods of formal secondment with Special Olympics on Eircom’s behalf and has been a constant volunteer for the organisation, giving lots of his own time to helping people with intellectual disabilities participate more fully in life.

Remembering Capt (retd) Azhar Ali - a distinguished polo player
A very honorable person, disciplined and true to commitment as a person and a player. His achievements are many on the field and off the field. He had excelled in the field of polo at a very young age and had won the country’s most prestigious Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup (a national Open Tournament) 10 times. This is a singular feat which is achieved by very few. He played for the Pakistan team on many occasions nationally and internationally. He was an excellent horseman, the credit of which goes to his father late Col Inayat, commandant of Mona Depot Sargodha. Trained in those formative years in the Army discipline, he developed a classic style of English polo where emphasis is on the correct seat. The style of play is very different now and it is more Argentinean style of play which has less emphasis on how you sit on the horse.
Cappy remained on the Executive Committee of the Lahore Polo Club and also served as the Honorary Secretary when he promoted the game, facilitated foreign visiting teams, and introduced running commentary in Urdu, for the first time. (Text by Ishaq Khan Khakwani)
I am not pointing fingers to anyone but I personally don't like the idea of giving up Pakistani passports only because we are treated differently. We should be steadfast and work hard to develop respect for our green passport. Main iss ko khud gharzi samajhta hoon. beher haal har koi samajhdar hay aur apnai acha bura khud samajh sakta hay.
