This week's theme for Mosaic Montage Monday was Quad .I found the perfect Quad of Irises in bloom at Horton Iris Garden! HMMM!
Numerous quad tracks can be seen running over the hill here that vanish in the morning cloud. This is rough sheep faming country near Fruid. A lovely morning in the hills.
Iowa Interstate's eastbound CBBI rolls through the yard and past the makeshift corporate sign at 44th street in Rock Island, IL. A nice chilly day for 'fanning, but sadly, not much action, and not the leader I was hoping for.
Derby's centre for the arts, this is the corner of the building ... lots of visual arts going on, as well as the international photographic Format Festival directed by Louise Clements and supported by many significant photographers from all over the world. Still waiting for my invite :D

"Oriental Quad"
Four men on a bicycle for four. My restoration and colorization of George H. van Norman´s 1898 photo in the Library of Congress archive.
This is the second week of taking the photo I submitted to the group Fotosondag (Photo Sunday) the theme there this week was Advent. I put the post processing to this frame to make it a Sliders Sunday shot. This way one can compare the changes easily since they are side by side in my photostream. Oh and by the way it was only one candle I could come up with so I would turn it and move the camera over and then blend the four shots together.
KCS 2971 leads CPKC's KD70 near the Water Works on Davenport's east side after returning from a run up the Eldridge Branch. They will cool their heels here for a little bit while 252 heads north with a KCS ACe just out of view to the right.
KCS road power is a common sight on the former CP side of the railroad now. However, the local power is still quite segregated. 2971 is one of the first KCS geep to hold down a regular assignment up here. When I returned a week later, KCS 2847 also appeared. It's only a matter of time before the geeps get as mixed as the road power and this is just the beginning of a lot of change to come. So enjoy those multiple unit KCS locals while you can, because the solo ECO's invasion is coming.

While passing through the Quad Cities on I-80, I saw a heads up on here referencing the train seen here rolling through Cammanche. After some quick real-life math class work in my head, I figured that it'd be hitting Le Claire about the same time that I would, and I was not wrong!
My wife dropped me off to run up the hill to the gas station, and just about that time, this great looking KCS Tier IV GEVO came around the corner towards me! This is a 760 train that runs as needed with auto racks from Cottage Grove, MN (SW of the Twin Cities) to IFG in KCMO along the old KCS mainline.
The Belle may be out of place here on the old Milwaukee Road main, but no more so than SOO or CP, and so long as it's looking good, I'll take it! Soon enough, they'll all be gone. For future reference, this was at MP 179.12 in Le Claire, and for those unaware of the geography, the Mississippi River is about 50 yards to my right.
DME 4006 leads a northbound local underneath the Iowa Interstate on its way to Le Claire and Clinton.
RL305, RL307, RL301 and RL302 work loaded SSR grain 3448 towards Picton, having made the overnight run from Henty in the NSW Riverina where they loaded.
RL302 was outshopped days prior with a new vinyl wrap sponsored by UGL Rail Linx.

NR28, AN2, NR93 and NR9 get lit up by a quickly opening gap in the clouds as they work 1BM4 to Melbourne through Exeter. This train was very lightly loaded, usually 1BM4 runs after trackwork or due to wagon balancing. The loading only extended for the photo, and the remaining almost 1000m of train was empty.
The Bureau of Meteorology has declared a La Niña event until the end of January meaning many wet days and humid temperatures.
