Бахчисарай… Золотые лучи солнца скользят по скалам плато Бурунчак (Бурунчыкъ) и древнего пещерного города крымских караимов Чуфут-Кале. Вечерняя тень уже захватила ущелье Биюк-Ашлама-Дере и медленно ползёт по склону соседней горы Беш-Кош. Белый известняк скал и стволы деревьев украшает трио лишайников: рыжая ксантория, серая фисция и бледно-зелёный ризокарпон. Вдалеке, на стыке четырёх ущелий, виднеются белые домики Староселья (Салачика).
Bakhchysarai… The golden rays of the setting sun caress the cliffs of the plateau Burunchak (Burunςaq — “Little Cape”) and the ancient Crimean Karaite cave town of Chufut-Kale (Çufut Qale — “Jewish Fortress”). The evening shadow has consumed the canyon Biyuk-Ashlama-Dere (Biyük Aşlama Dere — “Greater Apple Tree Valley”) and is slowly creeping up the slope of the neighboring mountain Besh-Kosh (Beş Qoş — “Five Corrals”). The three lichens—red xanthoria, gray physcia, and light green rhizocarpon—adorn the white limestone rocks and the tree trunks. Afar off, at the crossing of the four valleys, are seen the little white houses of Satroselye (Salachik).
