"String Quartet Fever" refers to a series of candlelight concerts by Fever that feature string quartets performing a variety of music, including film scores, tributes to popular artists like Queen and The Beatles, and classical pieces. These concerts are known for their intimate and atmospheric setting, with the music played in spaces illuminated by candlelight

This guy played a mean string fiddle in Shakespeare country. Tried a high aperture for some still and blurred effect. Of the quartet two are in focus and two motioned.

This will be one of only a handful of pics from me between now and the end of June. Will check in and comment on everyone else's lovely work but my life is a bit manic at the mo so the photos will be infrequent. Boo.

I took that in our garden. It's always nice to see springs first messenger :-)

Please feel free to give me some critique and feedback: Describe the image in terms of your general feeling or impression. Tell me what you like or dislike about the photograph, and why. That could help me a big deal doing better in the future. THANKS!

ArtRock Quartet

in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Jim and I went to the former Louise Mandrell Theater--now the Miracle Theater--to a concert by the Triumphant Quartet, gospel singers/musicians. They were fantastic.

In this era, CN has taken back the Hagersville sub and has put a quartet of 4 axle GPs up to managing it. I don't think this lasted long, and within a few months some 6-axles started pouring in to offset the less powerful/reliable GPs.

Here 581 (I think) is making some moves at Paris likely on their way back to Brantford.

Marquette Rail interchange job Z151 has just departed CSX's Wyoming Yard. The quartet of SD40s is crossing the Grand River Bridge, and will reach home rails in a few miles at Turner Street.

A good looking quartet of Rio Grande Tunnel Motors lead the MNYRO west as they descend the west side of Soldier Summit between Thistle and Castilla. March of 2001 while well after the UP/SP merger it was still common to find Rio Grande powered trains along the line, especially in Utah. It was especially nice to catch a good looking set like this quartet.

The "lead singer" on the right, with his "back-up" singers to his left!!

After a tip from Bryant, I also decided to venture out and find this unusual quartet of EMDs on a train of grain empties for the Browns Valley Sub.

John Martin Quartet

John Martin - Tenor & Soprano Sax

Jonjo Grisdale - Piano

Tim Fairhall - Double Bass

Andy Ball - Drums

This gig falls 4 days after the release of John Martin's debut album on the "F-ire" label. www.f-ire.com

The album, entitled "Dawning" reveals a young saxophonist/composer with a warm and engaging voice, mature and emotionally fluent on his instrument. His writing combines joyful African-inspired grooves, dark Mehldau-ish harmony, contemporary odd-time meters, and the folky European sound reminiscent of Keith Jarrett’s early quartet with Jan Garbarek.

‘Dawning’ represents the starting point of a journey full of promise. It has been recorded beautifully at Artesuono studio in Italy, and is characterized by a warm and open sound, and a certain emotional directness. Martin’s uncluttered improvisations and the dynamic structures created by the band respond to a wide range of inspiration, from English jazz and folk and the ECM sound to Wayne Shorter and the downtown New York scene.

“This album should be heard and bought” - Kenny Wheeler

“This is an honest, cohesive and sophisticated release –

a band to listen out for in 2011 and a credit to the F-ire collective” Iain Ballamy

The Golden Gate Quartet (a.k.a. The Golden Gate Jubilee Quartet) is an American vocal group. It was formed in 1934 and, with changes in membership, remains active.

It was a great favourite with my mother, so I’ve been listening to them since the 1960s.
