It was already late in the afternoon when I decided to hike up to Avalanche Lake, and my first time at this location.
I questioned myself whether I had made the right decision when it started to rain and thunder came rolling in, nor did it help seeing everyone else heading the opposite direction.
Yet, I could not and did not want to turn around.
A magnet was pulling me to keep walking, surrounded by ancient western hemlocks and red cedars as tall as 100 feet,
until I reached my destination.
No one was in sight. The whole lake so still, so beautiful, already expecting me, hugged by Bearhat and Little Matterhorn Mountain. Even the setting sun appeared from behind the clouds.
In this moment, at this location, I felt that love can be a sudden arrival in overwhelming quantities, just like an avalanche.
Given the quantity of Swamp Sparrow shots I got, it could be swampie for a few weeks... ;-) They are seriously cute little guys, with a surprisingly wide variety of plumages. All of them blend in very well with the background at this time of year, but they were active enough to make them fairly easy to spot if you were patient enough to wait for them to come out into the open. While native to South Africa, they grow in many countries. Flowers are red, orange or yellow. Yellow is much harder find than the common orange. A more vibrant shade of red, adorning that of the Terminal Railroad Association's hefty SD60I pair, flashes by the forlorn scene on the point of a 201 transfer job from the Terminal's Madison Yard moving cars to BNSF's Lindenwood Yard on the western edge of the city.

This photo from galleria vittorio emanuele ii for me, shows very good what Milan is standing for (at least the city centre). Beautiful architecture and a lot, many, people, whoe want to get from A to be as fast as possible. Among them quantities of tourists, like myself, just standing around making pictures.

I planted bareroot strawberries in late February, expecting to wait a year before they produced any usable quantities. I was pleasantly surprised to get an abundant crop less than three months later. They're so good, they're worth putting in a little white bowl and taking a picture.

On their way to make a delivery of a large quantity of long and matured bamboo are two guys riding on a motorcycle cart which is passing in mid-morning along the national road at a moderate speed.
The bamboo of this variety is used for the construction of temporary shelters and fishing boats.
It is pretty obvious that the buyer has an urgent need for this particular construction material as he asked that it be delivered to him immediately, no matter if the delivery day falls on a Sunday, which is usually a rest day for many working Filipinos. On the part of the seller, on the other hand, it is a good opportunity for him to turn his bamboo into cold cash, which during this coronavirus pandemic-era is hard to come by. And for these two delivery boys, it is a work, period.

Because large quantities of water are taken from the sources of the Jordan by the countries of Israel and Jordan, the river today is a small, winding, dirty stream that makes its way to the Dead Sea. The river winds so much on its journey from the Sea of Galilee to the Dead Sea that the entire course runs about 130 miles instead of the 60 miles it would take if it ran straight.

A walking trail passes a golden-roofed Greek Orthodox church and leads to a shaded wooden platform by the river, which here is little more than a creek lined with reeds. You can be baptised in the Jordan if accompanied by a priest; there's also a font accessible to all that is filled with water from the river (but note that, despite its holy status, the river itself is quite polluted, so the water shouldn't be drunk).
This is the only place where civilians can currently touch the Jordan River in Jordan, as the remainder runs through a military no-man’s land. Across the river is the Israeli-run complex of Qasr Al Yahud in the Palestinian Territories, where you can often see large groups of religious tourists being baptised.
The berries are not edible for humans as they are distasteful. They are considered toxic if eaten in large quantity.
Massive quantities of Yellow-rumped Warblers have arrived in Northeast Ohio coinciding with a large hatching of midges along Lake Erie. Just as the midges are an easy target for the warblers, the warblers are providing an easy target to local bird photographers. In trying to keep things interesting, I look for a spot that provides a nice setting and then wait for a bird to arrive and complete the composition. Fortunately, with so many birds present I don't have to wait very long. For this shot I found an area with a colorful, softly lit background and waited for the Yellow-rumped warbler to enter the space.

Am doing the FAFM (February Alphabet Fun Month) challenge, wherein we post a picture for each letter of the alphabet on the corresponding day; and I decided to feature the macro animals that the kids gave me for Christmas and my birthday…..
Now starts the tricky letters- X, Y, Z - methinks there will be artistic license for some.
