Pas vraiment rare autour et dans le parc de Khao Yai (nous en avons vu deux en moins de deux jours), les pythons viennent dans les grottes et grimpent sur les murs pour attraper les chauves-souris. (Parc national Khao Yai - Thaïlande)

Hoping he'll open his mouth again, but no such luck.

It is funny when the rocks shrink down to human-sized for a pose.

This fellow came crawling under the table at our camp spot. He went into the tall grass behind the fence and at some point was headed up a tree. But then he thought better of it - yawned at us, and disappeared in the grass.

I didnt know snakes yawned. That is kinda interesting.

"Shaggy," in this picture, is in molt and will shed his skin in a few days. Notice how his eyes are "opaque" indicating that the dead outer layer of skin scales are separating from the new scales underneath. Snakes do not have movable eyelids but rather a clear scale which covers their eyes like contact lenses. Because of the dry climate here, "Shaggy" needs more humidity and is soaking. This picture also illustrates how a six foot long snake can fit into a small area. It's what snakes evolved to do! "Shaggy" is a Jungle carpet python (Moreilia spilotes cheynei). Carpet pythons are native to Australia. Photo by Frank

This beautiful python was laying half in a water dish I have outside my house when I woke up the other morning. He stayed in there for a good hour before sliding off into the forest. I noticed he had a very thick tail with an injury - maybe hit by a car or even attacked by one of the many who have snake grudges. There are snakes everywhere at the moment with the heat we're having.
